Crist, GOP to throw 'victory' bash for McCain

The Republican Party of Florida is throwing John McCain a "victory party" on Oct. 18 in Orlando. Gov. Charlie Crist will be there along with an unnamed special guest (rumored to be Sen. Mel Martinez), according to an invite. The rally will be held at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. Doors open at noon.

Is he going to celebrate his ability to lose a sure thing, like florida

Arlene will next to next him smiling and holding hands while stabs him in the back.

No sequence of events could have more aptly illustrated the two major parties for what they truly represent than the recent economic meltdown.

First, there was the Democrats' well-meaning push to get everyone into a home, which led to subprime loans.

Then it was the Republicans’ failure to regulate what they knew was a brewing disaster.

Then it was a team effort at giving away the life savings of every American taxpayer for the next 40 years to a band of hoodlums that know no national loyalty.

If you’re looking for advice on whom to vote for in the next election, keep the aforementioned in mind. You just may want to look outside the main parties – the parties that put you in the precarious predicament where you find yourselves today.

If you consider yourself liberal, alternatives include the Green party or Socialist party. If you lean to the right, there’s the Constitution party and the Libertarian party. And if you’re middle of the road, there’s always good old Ralph Nader, the perennial candidate. These folks have tried awfully hard to provide leadership based on a true love of America-often spending their own money-and haven’t gotten a lot of love in return. Maybe you should have a listen.

A.) someone tell Andrew Allan to shut up.

B.) this "victory" party sounds like the most depressing thing ever.

What exactly are they celebrating? What victory?

When will we see Gov. Crist out there whipping up an angry mob about Obama's "terrorist bloodlines."???

Someone should ask Charlie if he thinks Obama is a terrorist sympathizer.

I don't know how you Republicans can show your face in polite society.

C- Truth hurts, don't it, 10:54?

Um, Charlie, we're having some premature celebration here, dontcha think?

10:59,

You’re about a desperate R-minion moron, aren’t you…

Dude, lay off the kool aid and stay far away from Fox, Hannity, Limbaugh, and Rove… trust me, you live better and have more friends.

… and since when has what Chuck Crisp says matter to anyone in Florida. This useless puppet has been an embarrassment to our state and will be a one-term loser of a Governor.

Another "Mission Accomplished?"

Sounds like another "ploy" to me! Is Bob Dole going to attend and bring some "political viagra" for McCain's drooping campaign?

I can't wait, balloons and cheers for Arlene running this thing into the ground. But she swears it's not her fault, she said she didn't get any help or support from RPOF. But next time she'll do a better job on the Governor's reelection.

The McCain campaign has not been good for Crist. Crist linked his political credibility to a high profile losing effort. And, with their arrogance and incompetence the Crist people working for McCain have lowered Crist's standing with the Republican base.

McCain has sucked all the money out of the room. And just sucked generally.

11:09, you missed my point.

McCain is benefitting by spreading horrible, racially-tinged lies about Barack Obama.

Reporters should ask Charlie if he agrees with the McCain Campaign that Barack Obama is a "terrorist's best friend."

Charlie is backpeddling -- he can't afford to get tagged as an extremist. But we shouldn't let Republicans have it both ways.

Governor, you can either benefit from John McCain's appeal to racial bigotry, or you can keep your place in polite society.

Someone should put him on the spot and make him choose -- crazy racists, or moderate conservatives. Who's your buddy, governor?

John McCain's appeal to racial bigotry??

Are you smoking something this morning?
Senator Obama's ties to radicals is only now be recognized by the MSM because of Gov Palin bringing them up and now ads. He should be asked and held accountable and explain to the American people how in 20 years sitting in a pew at Rev Wright's church he never heard him spew his hate?
For Obama to claim that he never knew about Ayers' past as a terrorist is comcial at best.
Go play the race card somewhere else.

Obama has over and over again proved that he has poor judgement with his friends and pastor.

A victory party for what exactly? The election hasn't happened yet, all of the news for the McCain ticket is bad news, and McCain is way behind in the polls for Florida. Yet again the RPOF in it's infinite wisdom is going to waste more donations by not actually trying to gain a victory by giving the money to the candidates but instead by throwing a party for a victory that hasn't happened and is questionable at best. This is why me and many others have stopped giving money to the RPOF. When Jim Greer is no longer in charge our donations will resume.

Obama's Real Problem With Ayers
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Posted 10/7/2008

Election '08: At an education forum in Venezuela, Bill Ayers showed the real issue is not his terrorist past. It's the socialist revolutionary agenda that he and Barack Obama want to impose on the nation's schools.

Still more evidence of how the media are in the tank for Obama was evident in Tom Brokaw's description of Ayers on Sunday's "Meet The Press."

"School reformer" is how Brokaw identified the co-founder of the Weather Underground, the radical organization that, among other activities, bombed government buildings, banks, police departments and military bases in the early 1970s.

Yeah, right: Ayers is a school reformer in the same sense, as City Journal's Sol Stern put it, as Joe Stalin was an agricultural reformer.

An idea of what Ayers has in mind for America's schools was provided in his own words not 40 years ago when Obama was eight years old, but less than two years ago in November 2006 at the World Education Forum in Caracas hosted by dictator Hugo Chavez.

With Chavez at his side, Ayers voiced his support for "the political educational reforms under way here in Venezuela under the leadership of President Chavez. We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution. . . . I look forward to seeing how . . . all of you continue to overcome the failures of capitalist education as you seek to create something truly new and deeply humane."

Ayers told the great humanitarian Chavez: "Teaching invites transformations, it urges revolutions large and small. La educacion es revolucion." It is that form of socialist revolution that Ayers, and Obama, have worked to bring to America.

Ayers, now a tenured Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois, Chicago, works to educate teachers in socialist revolutionary ideology, urging that it be passed on to impressionable students.

As Stern points out, "Ayers and his education school comrades are explicit about the need to indoctrinate public school children in the belief that America is a racist, militarist country and that the capitalist system is inherently unfair and oppressive."

If Ayers was just another nutty professor, we'd be lucky. But he wields great influence in academic circles and has had Obama's ear. He's the author or editor of 15 books. Chicago's current mayor, Richard M. Daley, has employed Ayers as a teacher trainer for Chicago's public schools and consulted him on the city's education-reform plans.

Just last month, Ayers was elected vice-president for curriculum for the 25,000-member American Educational Research Association. AERA is the nation's largest organization of education-school professors and researchers.

In a recent interview on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor," Obama upgraded Ayers' status from "a guy who lives in my neighborhood" to "somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know."

Actually, Obama knew him quite well, having worked together on a school "reform" project called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.

In the 1990s, Ayers was instrumental in starting the Annenberg Challenge, securing a $50 million grant to reform the Chicago Public Schools, part of a national initiative funded by the late Ambassador Walter Annenberg.

Obama was given the Annenberg board chairmanship only months before his first run for office. He ran the fiscal arm that distributed grants to schools and raised matching funds.

Ayers participated in a second entity known as the Chicago School Reform Collaborative, the operational arm that worked with grant recipients.

During Obama's tenure as Annenberg board chairman, Ayers' own education projects received substantial funding.

One of Ayers' descriptions for a course called "Improving Learning Environments" says a prospective K-12 teacher needs to "be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and . . . be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, teaching for social justice and liberation."

John McCain needs to repeatedly point out the stealth socialism of Ayers' education agenda and Obama's complicity in it. Otherwise, we may one day see Ayers as Obama's secretary of education.

Gov. Crist and Republicans -- Do you think Barack Obama has "terrorist bloodlines?"

This is the Republican base, people. Don't forget it.

why is the rpof paying for a party and not using the money to get out the vote?

11:17 am-

Trust me, Arlene is not going to lead or be a part of any Crist re-election efforts. She has been permanently replaced.

hold on just a dadgum second... didn't Crist say just yesterday Mccain's campaign was not his first priority? that he has his hands full right now running the state of Florida?

guess Crist's hands aren't full after
all.

Let 'em have it. It's the only victory party they are going to attend this year.

Andrew Allen makes some very valid points

Is this event going to be in Spanish like the one recently held in Orlando?

I am one former GOP'er who got so sick of Mel"the pandering cuban" Martinez I registered Independent and will not vote for McAmnesty.

Republican Sheriff Mike Scott, while on duty and in uniform, tried to attack Sen. Obama by using his middle name.

The McCain campaign has often critized these type of remarks but to Republican law enforcement officers in Florida, I guess it is OK.

What should we expect from these law enforcement officers on election day?

I hear that the Democrats are trowing a victory party on November 4th. Why isn't the SPT publicizing that event? There is are special guests expected there as well . . . "The People."

Shouldn't the Republicans walk in neighborhoods, wave signs and make calls instead of using money for a party in Orlando? Or maybe this is a ploy to get people energized since the RPOF has been rather lukewarm for the McCain-Palin ticket it seems.

Hey!... I'm throwing a victory party too... and you're all invited!

Signed,

The weird 40-year old neighbor who still lives in his mom's basement, and just got promoted to Head Assistant Graveyard-Shift Supervisor in Charge of Changing Mop-heads!

I this a JOKE!. Talk about out of touch republicans.

what has he won, nothing in my mind, the way he hobbled around tuesday at the town hall meeting he looked a 100 yrs old and i'm a republican to the only thing i give mccain is service to our country i'm a vet to as to do for the country he has no clue.i'm tired of hearing about his capture what are his plans for the future. the only thing he wants to do is stay in the war untill a victory bring the troops home in a time line to many are getting killed for no reason let iran fend for then selves we shouldn't even be there. the next conflick will be in packastan and mccain will love that and even in some other part of the world pulling out to an time frame is surendering in mccain eyes not me it's the smart thing to do why lose more troops for no reason

The comments of both 1:30 and 1:50 are spot on and tell the rest of the story as far as this election goes.

Where will Republican leaders be on Nov 4th playing golf talking each other into believing that the economy is strong for those who have theirs.

Gallup Daily: Obama 52%, McCain 41%

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. This event is cutting into prime canvassing time during a Saturday! Florida is in jeopardy, and they want to have a damn "Victory Party", drawing away potential volunteers and supporters from activities that need to be done such as canvassing and phonebanking? What's next, Charlie fiddling while Rome burns?

Whose the terrorist? We have environmental and economic terrorists in charge of Florida. As a Republican I am ashamed of the entire leadership for thes types of deals>

Yet another example of how campaign contributions and public policy can overlap:
Gov. Jeb Bush and the Cabinet yesterday unanimously approved a plan to help Volusia County homebuilder Mori Hosseini finance a development on a 450-acre swath of hickory hammocks and slash pines.
Just three years ago, Bush and the Cabinet (Attorney General Charlie Crist, Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher and Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Bronson) agreed that the state should buy that same 450-acre property as part of a sprawling nature preserve in Voluisa that protects everything from 35-foot high bluffs overlooking a creek to 18th-century British Colonial ruins.
Some preservationists feared that making it easier to develop the property could drive up its value -- and put it out of reach of the state's land-buying program. But the landowners have already rejected one state offer, and now Hosseini, though he says he remains open to discussions with the state, wants to forge ahead with a subdivision called "Woodhaven."
And Hosseini, the CEO of ICI Homes, is a powerful figure in state politics.
He was a "Ranger" for President Bush -- the governor's brother -- during his 2004 re-election campaign, meaning Hosseini raised at least $200,000 for him. This election cycle, meanwhile, Hosseini and companies linked to him have given more than $10,000 each to Crist and Gallagher in their campaigns for governor.
In defense of the decision, Bush and his environmental-protection secretary said they don't think Wednesday's vote would increase the land's value.

Well then, who is Arlene's replacement?

Who else is on the way out, after this Crist/McCain (lack of) organization disaster in FL?
