Democrats blow out GOP in registrations
Stunning numbers in the final voter registration report out this afternooon. Democrats head into the election with 657,775 more voters in Florida than Republicans. They added more than 200,000 to their advantage just since July.
When George W. Bush won Florida by 381,000 votes four years ago, Democrats had a registration advantage of 368,757. Now, of course, the 657,775 dollar question is how well can the Obama machine turn out all those voters.
Because of how the data was compiled, it's impossible to get a solid estimate for absentee ballots in 2004. Republicans estimate they had a 4% lead in absentee ballots , but come election day that evaporated to a virtual tie because of the Democrats' advantage on early votes. Democrats guestimate the GOP lead in absentee ballots was closer to 20%, and early voting made up for it.
So far, according to Republican estimates 267,000 Republicans have voted by mail, 179,000 Democrats, and 68,000 others.

Thank you Charlie Crist for 1) restoring felons voting rights, and 2) restoring Democrats to power in Florida.
Next up: The Governor's race.

Too bad no one in the Press nor our Governor, Windbag W. Windvane, seem to care how many are illegally- or multiply-registered Acornites. Obama and his Acorn folks are bringing a real Taste of Chicago to Florida and we'll find that out as they try to vote....Let'em vote and the election results are tainted.Don't let'em vote and be called a Klansman. No win all the way around...

ACORN isn't even an issue in Florida. The new "No Match No Vote" law is in effect. If a voter can't be verified they can't vote.

Hey 6:33 - McCain's running ads in Spanish too - who's that leave you with?
Posted by: | October 19, 2008 at 06:42 PM
6:27-
You're correct IF:
1) Kurt Browning etc. can get substantially all registrations checked out per NM/NV before the election; and
2)The federal court rejects the suit by ACORN and its Liberal fellow travelers that's trying to have the law thrown out.
Let's hope the answers are "YES" and "No," respectively, in that I really want you to be right...

I am Hispanic and I don't enjoy being called "stupid". I am voting for McCain, but if this is how the Republican party feels about me and my family, maybe I need to reconsider.

I am praying that John McCain and Sarah Palin win. They will restore GOD as head of this great CHRISTIAN nation once again. Prayer will be brought back to the schools and abortion will go away forever.
Join me in prayer for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

I am voting for Sarah Palin. She is the most inspiring Vice Presidential pick ever. She is a very quick learner and will be a great President one day. Also, she showed her sense of humor on SNL last night. She was great.

Mark Jacoby, the owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario late last night on voter registration fraud.
Jacoby's arrest by state investigators and the Ontario Police Department comes after dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by his firm, Young Political Majors, or YPM. The voters said YPM tricked them by saying they were signing a petition to toughen penalties against child molesters. The firm was paid $7 to $12 for every Californian it registered as a member of the GOP.
Several agencies had launched investigations into Jacoby's activities, including the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, which issued the warrant for his arrest earlier this month on felony charges of voter registration fraud and perjury.
More importantly, this is not the first time that this individual committed this same fraud and the Republican National Committee was aware of his history and hired him again!
People need to know the much broader scope of this issue!
It's the Republicans that get arrested for switching people illegally from Democrat to Republican.
It seems that unlike Acorn, Mr. Jacoby was paid for registrations, approximately $7 to $12 per registrant.
But this is not the first time, according to the St. Petersburg Times, the Republican party in 2004 hired Mr. Jacoby through another firm and he ran the same scam then--and they knew about it and hired him again for this election.
His strategy was to go onto college campuses and get students to sign a petition for stiffer penalties for child abuse or relaxed regulation on Marijuana and then forge their registration after the individual completed the petition. The petition was a fraud, but the registration was then real.

Hey Jim Greer, I thought you said the Obama campaign didn't exist in Florida?
Posted by: fed up gop | October 19, 2008 at 07:28 PM
fed up gop - Jim Greer is right. The Obama campaign ground game in Florida is a figment of the liberal media's imagination. I have yet to see any evidence that Obama has ANY ground game in Florida. I see 6 McCain signs in my neighborhood and no Obama ones. I also had a visit from McCain supporters today asking for my vote. I have also had a phone call from the McCain campaign. No evidence of Obama at all.

Acorn can register Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Porky Pig and all the looney tunes they want. The fact is, those characters are not going to come out and vote on election day. So, conservatives, drop the red herring excuse for your pathetic campaign.

Read Newsweek this week.
The good news for Arlene is that she finally got recognition by name in a national publication. The bad news is they recognized she is massively incompetent.

Why is it that the Dewey vs. Truman race is always the last rationale for winning that is used right before a campaign tanks?
Posted by: | October 19, 2008 at 07:48 PM
I love how the right wing has turned on people like Colin Powell, Chris Buckley and Chuck Hagel for their support for Obama. Why can't people support whomever they want without being attacked and smeared by these people? Colin Powell has the right to free speech and people can accept his opinion for whatever they believe it is worth. Their continued attacks on Powell will backfire.

Finally! Arlene has gotten her comeuppance. With any luck, she and that shifty-eyed husband of hers will be back in Miami doing secretarial work posthaste!

With ACORN's help, they will all vote. Dead or alive.

A question for all you Palin bashers. If she has been so bad for McCain, why isn't the Messiah up by more than he is in the polls? Seems to me you all are still scared to death she and Joe the Plumber may actually help to upset the Socialist Regime plans of the Democrats. Could very well happen. Why are all these Dems so concerned about a VP who hurts McCains chances? Seems to me I'd just shut up and let his campaign implode. Then again, it isn't imploding!!!
Posted by: | October 19, 2008 at 08:33 PM
Ted: don't look now, but nobody cares what Colin Powell does.
Posted by: | October 19, 2008 at 08:34 PM
8:33...People have been critical of Palin for her obvious cluelessness because of their concern for the country. I wish her nothing but luck back in Alaska. But Mccain lost this election when he picked her. People who once respected Mccain couldnt grasp his sellout to the religious right in naming her as his running mate. He didnt even know her when he selected her. Often times it is people who like Mccain, like Colin Powell, who can't support him because he did not put country first in picking her. By the way, Do I live in the pro-american part of america? I just want to know.
Posted by: Confused | October 19, 2008 at 08:49 PM
Oh, the Colin Powell endorsement would have been the biggest endorsement of the election if McCain had gotten it, so come off it. Palin's been a bust for McCain, great rallies (Hey, I thought celebrity was a bad thing) but no there there. Anyone viewer of any of her interviews knows she's not up to the job. It can be said that Colin Powell put it as respectfully as possible today. Putting Palin No. 2 on the ticket, shows a serious, serious lack of judgment from McCain. Ultimately, the Palin pick will end up contributing to his loss.

Palin cost McCain my vote.

I love how the left wing has turned on Joe Lieberman for his support for McCain. Why can't people support whomever they want without being attacked and smeared by these people? Joe Lieberman has the right to free speech and people can accept his opinion for whatever they believe it is worth. Their continued attacks on Lieberman will backfire.

Obama/Biden 2008
Posted by: | October 19, 2008 at 09:53 PM
The left wing did not turn on Lieberman because of his support for Mccain. No, Democrats turned on him when he lost his primary and renounced his party affiliation and ran as an independent.(Its all about him don't forget) They renounced him when he lied during his campaign by saying he supported an end to the war and then when he won the election he was the strongest Iraq war supporter out there. He kissed Bush's a---s every chance he got. Barack Obama ACTIVELY campaigned for Lieberman during his Senate race and then he repayed him by not only endorsing Mccain, but becoming his constant sidekick and presumptive VP. There are many reasons people on the left don't like him, not just an endorsement. Oh and did you see the timid reception he got at the Republican convention, they barely applauded. I love karma.

8:30 Wrong - it was mostly small donations from the desperate folks of the middle class - the ones who are suffering from the Bush/McCain policies which favor the wealthy and big money corporate backers. Obama's appeal extends to just about everyone, but NOT the absurdly wealthy who's greed has been running our nation into the ground with the collaboration of the Republicans.
