Detert gets a hand from Crist in SD 23

Images Gov. Charlie Crist watched the Rays first playoff game in St. Petersburg yesterday then hopped down to Venice for a fundraiser for state Senate hopeful Nancy Detert.

Yes, Crist is helping raise money for Detert. During the GOP primary, the governor backed Michael Grant. But he is now lending his popularity to Detert, a former state representative who is facing Democrat Morgan Bentley.

Yesterday's event at Boone, Boone, Boone, Koda & Frook was technically a host committee reception for a fundraiser that will happen Oct. 22 at Mattison's Forty One in Sarasota. Still, some people dropped off checks, minimum $100. Also in attendance: RPOF Chairman Jim Greer, Sens. Lisa Carlton and Mike Bennett, Rep. Doug Holder, and former Sen. John McKay.

Good old Charlie. Always behind a winner.

Does Chuck even know where Florida is?

He does now -- he followed Obama back in after the primaries were over.

I have a question for the St Pete Times - Is anyone verifying that Crist is properly reimbursing his rich friend for use of the jet that carts Charlie and Carole all over the state, and beyond?

Quick question - who paid for Charlie's ticket? And then who paid for Charlie's travel down there....

LaToya,
I'm pretty sure it wasn't Rezko.

Detert is a good egg.

Looks like Charlie isn't much of a political king maker.

Detert didn't need Crist's support in the primary, and she probably doesn't need it now.

Must be incredibly satisfying for her to see Crist, Greer and the rest of Tallahassee ignorati groveling now.

Detert will lose

Can anyone tell me what Charlie has done for us since he has been governor? We are in pretty bad shape in this state and he doesnt really seem to be trying to do much of anything. It must be that smaller government or free market theory.

Love Detert, but that's the kiss of death. Good luck, Nancy, overcoming the curse of Charlie...

How was anyone able to see Charlie with all the smoke that was being blown in that room? Of those in the room, probably only 3 could really say a nice word about her. She will win, but it isn't because she is the right person. It's 25 years running in Sarasota County. Poor electorate!

Detert will win this hands down. The guy with the porn stache has done anything except tell people he represents insurance companies.

They should outlaw the porn stache
