Floridians on the bailout, Part 2
Here's how Florida's congressional delegation voted on the Wall Street bailout, er, rescue. Last time, of course, the bill failed, but this time it passed. So, somebody had to switch. Who? In Florida we had two, both Republicans. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Miami and Vern Buchanan of Sarasota.
Here are the rest: Voting yes: Republicans Adam Putnam, Ander Crenshaw, Dave Weldon. Democrats Corrine Brown, Alcee Hastings, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ron Klein, Tim Mahoney, Robert Wexler, Kendrick Meek, Allen Boyd.

A crippled monkey could do a better job than Allen Boyd.

The greatest transfer of public wealth to private hands in the history of the world. We really do live in an oligarchy.
Government with the rich, by the rich, and for the rich.
Posted by: Piobair | October 03, 2008 at 03:09 PM
Oh and stocks tanked on the passage of the Crap Sandwich...
Soon they'll be telling us they need MORE tax dollars. You realize there is no end to what government will spend your money on.
Government at work, folks...Both parties are responsible. Anyone voting "yes" to these bills should be voted out the next chance we have.

does anyone remember when Clinton was in the Whitehouse and Congress couldn't pass a budget so Clinton basically just let the government shut down for a day? This bailout will come back to bite if not us, our children - you can't borrow money to pay back already borrowed money and then say you've fixed the problem - Republican or Democrat its time for PLAIN common sense and accountability - I say let em fall and fail on Wall Street-Does this mean i can go out and charge all my credit cards to the maximum and ask Uncle Sam for a loan to pay my loan???

Thank you, Bill Young, for voting no on this travesty, which pays off toxic debt belonging to the Saudi Royal Family and the Chinese Sovereign Wealth fund.
I am celebrating by buying 10K worth of my Vanguard Wellington Fund, which is at its lowest price ever.
Posted by: Julie | October 03, 2008 at 03:35 PM
Yes, bravo to Bill Young. A true representative of his constituents. Not many of those left.
Posted by: | October 03, 2008 at 03:37 PM
I hope this makes people consider a presidential candidate outside the two-party system. Personally I supported Ron Paul (who was against this) and since he has left, I support Bob Barr. Lets stop corporate welfare! Please people spread the word, and with enough of us, we can bring someone out who will do something. Don't vote Democrat or Republican this time!!!!
Posted by: Jessica | October 03, 2008 at 03:50 PM
Oh, we are soooooooooo getting it up the posterior. Is it too late to immigrate back to England? This "bailout/rescue" whatever will do nothing to help "the little guys". It won't even give us enough money to buy a tube of KY for the rampant ****** we are about to receive. Thanks for voting the worst President in history BACK into office....

Thank you Kathy Castor for having the courage to stand up against this sellout! As we know, it does nothing for the people who are truly in need now. I have never been more proud to have you as my Congresswoman. I am going right out and getting your bumper sticker and yard sign. Keep up the good fight.

THE OTHER DAY AFTER THE BAILOUT HAD GONE DOWN TO DEFEAT IN THE HOUSE, THE MARKET ROSE 400 POINTS. THE NEWS MEDIA NOTED "THE MARKET ROSE MODESTLY ON OPTIMISM A DEAL COULD STILL BE REACHED." TODAY THE DEAL WAS REACHED. AND THE MARKET DECLINED BY 157 POINTS. I WONDER IF WE'LL HEAR THAT ON THE NEWS TONITE.

Vote Nader, not NObama.

I also made a list of Representatives and how they voted as well as noted how Sens. Martinez and Nelson voted. You can bet I'll be taking my list with me to the polls come November. I'll not vote for ANYONE who voted for this horrific piece of legislation.

The last great act of this thieving failed President is in full swing: the looting of our Treasury. Big money for big oil--check. Big money for war profiteers--check. Constitution trampled--check. Economy to be left in tatters for the next president--check. Multiple front endless wars--check. Fear=control. This is the game plan of the fascists. The neo-cons are laughing at us all as they fade into the sunset...their "mission accomplished".

Please note that most of you will now be working until well into your 70's, just so you can afford to eat (don't even THINK you'll be able to afford medical care. ) Do we have the best and brightest prepared to lead us out of this mess? I personally think we should be listening to as many smart people as we can to make certain of that. Please go here and see what I'm talking about:

Thanks Kathy Castor for courage. American's will remember who voted against the bail out. I knew I couldn't afford a home, now my tax dollars will pay for others grandiose decisions. No one seems to mention the appraisors. Why aren't they held accountable?

My votes on Nov. 4th will go to those that voted YES for this rescue plan (or to the opposition of those that voted NO). The majority simply don't understand why this bill was needed for the common people to save their lifetime investments in 401(k), mutual funds, pension/stock plans, etc. Some of our Reps did not understand these fundamentals, either.

American Samoa Economic Development Credit-Cost: $33 million over 10 years. 3.* 7-Year Recovery Period for Certain Motorsports Racetrack Property -- Cost: $100 million over 10 years. 4.Provisions Related to Film and Television Productions-Cost: $397 million over ten years. 5.Income Averaging for Exxon Valdez Litigation Amounts-Cost: $49 million over 10 years
When we NEED a "REAL CORRECTION", Congress continues to give out FREE LUNCHES...when we people wake up?

Our country has hope as long as McCain continues with the same policies as George W. Bush. I am confident that he will since he has voted alongside our beloved President on virtually every single issue.
We don't want Obama to change anything. We like how our economy is going under Bush. We like to stay in Iraq as long as possible.
McCain will give us four more years of Bush!! That's why I'm voting McCain/Palin!!
Posted by: Bill | October 03, 2008 at 05:44 PM
Now if Kathy Castor would just be able to call herself a Democrat on her website and her signs. With a heavily weighted Democratic district, what's there to be afraid of?
Well, I guess you can only expect so much courage.
Posted by: Lucy | October 03, 2008 at 06:39 PM
Isn't it a wonderful country we live in. Just imagine all the other former Hooters girls that will now aspire to become President. Just like Palin.

Good vote Rep Young. Glad to vote for you again on Nov 4th.

There was a couple at the craps table on a recent cruise to the Bahamas. The guy had been losing all night and was getting crazier with every throw. I heard him tell his wife to give him "the other thousand". She argued a bit until he told her to shut up and give him the money "if she knows what's good for her." I feel like that lady tonight.

Hey RT:
"The majority simply don't understand why this bill was needed for the common people to save their lifetime investments in 401(k), mutual funds, pension/stock plans, etc. Some of our Reps did not understand these fundamentals, either."
What you don't understand is that congress has the power -- and many would say the DUTY -- to insure lifetime investments in 401K and pension plans. Mutual funds and stocks = risk oriented plans that will offer potentially higher payouts. But a pension plan implies security that the managers are supposed to hold dear. The problem was our wonderfully FREE MARKET decided that pension funds should be treated like venture capital. They rolled the dice poorly and lost, and now historically secure investments are taking a hit for their commissionable greed.

Senator Bill Nelson was one of only 15 democrats and 9 republicans who voted NO.
Martinez voted YES.
The bill is a travesty. The only way they passed it was to add 150 billion dollars in pork and special interests. This was not the way to fix this situation -- and it will not fix the market.

Pleeese.... Barack Obama will phone in his solutions. Only showed up in person because McCain did.

After watching the bailout...it's obvious the Democraps are AssClowns.
Why did they add 150 billion to the 700 billion..? Their AssClowns..that's why! Why add pork to a bailout? Because when the Country needs help....their willing to make it worse!
Obama said no tax increase...then voted for a $850 billion tax bailout! How's he possibly going to cut taxes..? He can't...and he lies!!
Posted by: Dr_Dug | October 04, 2008 at 06:39 PM
I bet he didn't even read the plan....he just voted "Yes" because his party told him too...
What an AssClown!!

Again we see the left doing what they can to shift the blame.
Fannie was created by a Democrat FDR to encourage banks to provide mortgages.
In 1968 Democrat LBJ expanded it and took it off the federal books.
During the last 15 years, Democrats blocked efforts by Republicans to investigate the mortgage giants. Their books, though hidden were audited and flags were flying that there was trouble on the horizon.
At the same time, banks were told to loosen their credit policies in an effort to allow more people to buy into the American dream. By whom you ask? You got it, Democrats.
The housing market over-heated due to speculation that had investors flipping houses in hours, making huge profits.
Interest rates ticked, adjustable mortgage rates followed and KABOOM.
The Democrats have their fingerprints allover this mess. And in fact, we should see some jailed.
But with Democrats in charge of Congress and possibly the White House; you are going to have to wait a few years before you hear the truth.
Good luck during the depression. I for one am glad I am a hunter and survivalist. I promise to wait to see the whites of your eyes....or not.
