Greer gets cold shoulder as Palin arrives
As Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin arrives in Clearwater this morning for a blockbuster tour of Florida, she will be flying around with Gov. Charlie Crist, while scooping up campaign cash and enthusiasm for the Republican presidential ticket.
Palin's high-profile visit, her second to Florida, comes at a pivotal time. Polls show Democrat Barack Obama is now reaping a reward in the polls for having spent millions in advertising over the summer, and Florida Republicans have begun to question the strategy of Sen. John McCain's campaign in the state.
As an apparent sign of the tension between the state party and the McCain campaign, Florida Republican Party chairman Jim Greer is welcome to attend the events, as long as he makes his own travel arrangements.
He said he expects to participate in Palin events today but would get his own transportation. He has flown with McCain on recent visits and denied he was being shut out with Palin. "This time," he said, "I guess it's a smaller plane." (story here)

Someone on the campaign doesn't like Jim Greer to leak a minor detail like that.

The economy has fallen because of John McCain and his NeoCon cronies.
McCain did it in the Keating S&L fraud and he is doing it now.

Charlie and Sarah will be winking at each other.
Oh, did we mention the Jeb! is a Lehman Brothers' consultant and member of its private equity advisory board?

Give me a break. There is no cold shoulders at all from the national side. I should know.

Once the Obama, terrorist Bill Ayers, Racist Jeremia Wright, & Felon Tony Rezko commercials hits nationally, Obama's polling will drop like a rock.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 04:16 AM
Greer told them the truth and they didn't like it.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 05:46 AM
The plane Palin and Crist were on was only rated for medium-weight cargo. The RNC had the borrow SeaWorld's orca rescue plane to carry Greer.
Orcas live in Alaska. That's why Palin is qualified to be President.
See how the pieces fall into place?

I love it! This campaign pis.es Off the Chairman of the party and eveyone knows the Governors right hand man, why because he tells them that Florida's not looking good. Oh well Arlene and others shouldn't worry, Crist and Greer will only be around another 6 years or more! My bet is they find a seat for Greer today on the plane.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 06:48 AM
Greer doenst care about flying around in a plane with Palin and Crist. He has his own airplane. He's just gonna take his toys and play in another sandbox.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 07:30 AM
Greer makes an fool of himself.

4:16...out partying late again?
Obama and Ayers, the co-founder of the Weather Underground, served on charitable boards together and know each other through that service.
There is NO connection that they "pal around" as Gov Palin puts it.
Interesting that you call Wright a racist, because most of his invective was directed against America, not white folks.
And Rezko? what inaccuracies can you pew about him.
If you can't argue ideas, argue personalities, and if you can't argue the truth, lie.
What else have you been drinking along with the Kool-Aid?

the pig (sorry....I mean pit bull) with lipstick won't save you guys.
face facts, the R's are going down, down, down at every level (federal, state, local).
Maybe now we can rebuild our party and make it into what it really should have been before liars and thieves like W, Cheney and Jeb highjacked it.
Chuck while not a liar is just a ninkompoop and will be voted out in 2010 if McCain doesn't cut it on Nov. 4th.
I look forward to reshaping our party into what it should have been before the drunk from Crawford, Texas screwed the pooch.
Call it a New Contract With America 2008!

Its a problem with Greer and his ego not the RPOF. Rymes and crew are great.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 07:58 AM
Finding space for Greer should be no problem. Finding space for 1,000 lbs of bodyguards is a problem. On the other hand, maybe the McCain folks have heard about Greer and were afraid he couldn't keep his hands to himself.

OK Team; this economic meltdown is really helping our cause. I mean, who could have asked for anything better? Basically we hit the trifecta:
Record Bank Failures
401k Meltdown
Massive Layoffs
All we need now is a couple major troop losses and we will sweep right into the White House for sure.
It's a great time to be a Democrat!

As a woman trying to get my bills paid and put my son in school I DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT WHO CANDIDATES KNEW 10, 20, 30 YEARS AGO. I want economic help, health care and college help for my son. Obama gives me that best chance PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
DONT GET DISTRACTED BY USELESS NEGATIVE CRAP THAT HAS NO BEARING ON YOUR FUTURE!

Cynical Idealist, we don't know what the real relationship between Obama and Ayers is because Obama has repeatedly lied about his associations with Ayers. What we do know - and what has been proven - is disturbing enough.
Wright is a small-minded racist. He is no better than David Duke. But since he is a black man supporting another black man for President, he gets a free ride from the media.
As for Rezko, no embellishment is necessary. He is a crook and Obama's closest and most recognized money man. He even helped Obama buy the house the Obama's still call home today. Were Obama a Republican, he would have been forced to drop out long ago. But since the media is deep in the tank for Obama, all is forgiven.
Lastly, as to your sappy little argument about ideas vs. personalities, Obama has the wrong ideas for this country, but he has refused to argue them at the countless town halls that McCain has proposed. His personality and his character flaws are fair game, and so are the terrorists, racists and convicted felons that he has surrounded himself during his short and improbable career.
Your cynicism is only outwieghed by your naive idealism, which makes your handle a perfect one.

What you people fail to realize is that Greer is the ONLY one here who has his act together. McCain campaign and RNC are useless.
So because Greer tries to do the right thing and make this campaign in Florida salvagable this is how he is rewarded (assumming this story is even true)??
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 09:00 AM
OMG - Greer, take your ball and cry somewhere else...
I am sure the reporters and press coverage are more important than you flying with them... they are looking for the press coverage...

If you really look at the facts on the fannie/freddie blowup there is some blame to spread but the democratic leadership fought hard to keep regulation away from fannyfreddie and that caused the real demise . their refusal to look at the facts and rein in a runaway group put us where we are today. Time and time again Bush , republicans and Mcain brought legeslation forward to regulate and where squashed by democratic support ( Dodd, Frank) The "I'm for the little man" no matter what arguement put blinders on the dem leadership and let sub prime mortgages kill us. Period !

no one cares about Ayers
people care about the economy, the wars, health care, education, etc.
sounds like desperation time for McCain and Palin!
swiftboating won't work. you guys already broke that mold.
face it, you're going down.
HAHA
Ps did Palin bring her campaign prop (baby) with her?
wonder what her kids are doing while she's galavanging around (probably getting wasted and fornicating).
that's real family values there guys!

Greer told the truth and while I normally disagree with him on this one I agree. This lady needs to get her act together but I don't know if better briefing will do it when you can't answer a simple question like what newspapers/periodicals do you read on a regular basis? Good grief any of us could answer that, does she not read? Couric while distasteful gave a respectful interview unlike Gibson and there was no excuse for Palin's poor performance on it. I think most of us bloggers (Dem or Rep) could name Supreme Court cases we disagree with and reforms that McCain has pushed for. Just like if someone asked me to name legislation Kennedy has pushed for even though I'm a Republican I could name it. This lady fails on interviews that the average blogger could do fantastic on. It's all about being informed on a regular basis and if you're not no amount of prep is going to help you.

I love Greer , he tells it like is and takes no Bu.l Shi.t. Dumb move by McCain people or should I say another dumb move by Arlene and company. Another 30 days and this bunch is gone.
Posted by: Timmy T | October 06, 2008 at 10:27 AM
Sounds like Greer has a better grip on reality than the McCain campaign. If he say idly by and said nothing but "we're gonna win (wink)!" he'd be guilt of drinking the McCain Kool Aid and he'd be lying. At least he cares enough to convene a meeting that and point out if we don't turn things around, and now, Republicans will lose Florida and the presidency.
Here's the offending passage:
"She needs to be briefed more on certain aspects," he said. "She continues to be viewed very positively by the base of the party, but she needs to demonstrate that she's got the knowledge and ability to be president should the need arise."
McCain is like Bush in that the only way to be on the big plane is to agree with him. Now how has that approach worked out for us the past eight years.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 11:24 AM
Nothing Greer has said is incorrect, it just isn't what Davis and Schmidt want to hear.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Greer's comments are offensive because he attacked the intelligence and competence of a woman far more accomplished than he over minor interview mistakes, yet he never tells know-nothing male politicians, such as Crist, that they need to open a book.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 01:22 PM
without Greer, McCain loses Florida. Arlene can't handle this she is in way over her head just ask her staff.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 01:46 PM
This campaign was doomed from the start. Appointing the most hated woman in Tallahassee as the director was one of the craziest moves I've seen in campaign politics. RPOF waited WAY too long to take the reins and now it's probably too little, too late. McCain will lose Florida and the state campaign and RPOF will have some major 'splainin to do.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 03:35 PM
Nov 5th, Crist still here! Greer Still here, Arlene GONE. Doing this to our party Chairman will not be forgotten. Greer has done more to make the RPOF a force in Florida politics then ever before and this is how the Mccain people treat him.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Throw Poppa off the plane. Anyone (finally) get some RPOF press releases with the name PALIN on it TODAY? I find the timing interesting since Greer's hand was slapped by McCain camp for the NYT piece. If it was mischaracterisized then why no press release. I mean really here's the usual RPOF press releases: Govenor CC eats spinach for lunch, CC takes a swim, CC takes a nap, etc. Go back and look at the dismal one sentence from the convention just after the Governor of Alaska was announced - a mere 2 sentences. Thanks for nothing RPOF. Good move, McCain camp.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 12:42 PM
12:42pm, Heres a little News, CC runs Florida and Greer runs the RPOF. McCain-Palin Run nothing, Thats why!
