In Miami, Crist takes stock of things

Surrounded by a media horde at the Republican Governors' Association meeting in Miami, Charlie Crist said his party lost the election because Barack Obama was such a great candidate and the sour economy was a terrible drag on Republicans.

That prompted a reporter to remind Crist that Florida leads the nation in job losses, and to ask him if the economy would hurt him if he runs for re-election in 2010.

"I don't think so. I think that people are pretty satisfied, but we've got to work harder to improve it. And we will," Crist said. Pressed for solutions on how to help people get jobs, Crist invited them to go to  www.employflorida.com. "There are jobs available. There are opportunities. And we're trying to do more."

As for those anonymously leaked and vicious attacks on Sarah Palin, Crist said: "I think it's unfortunate to have any of it at all. My preference is to look forward to the future."

Is the Republican Party united, or divided between conservatives and moderates? "I think we have a unified party. We just need to grow it," Crist said.

First: get rid of the traitor CHARLIE CRIST.

Charlie's delusional...

Property taxes have to drop like a rock, and the Citizen buyout is a cop out. He has to address many things.

As far as Florida being a GOP model, he's delusional there as well. It is called "redistricting" and they fall where they will always fall, the way the republicans drew the districts. That is why the online on a whole is blue and the inside is still very red.

ILLEGALLY DRAWN DISTRICTS. THE PEOPLE HAVE ZERO REPRESENTATION IN FLORIDA. THAT IS THE GOP MODEL!!!

Dade voted 60% Obama even with the right wing Cubans ..Your party is screwing the majority of Floridians so the Dead GOP can stay in power..Keep it up Alex will Kick your butt in 2 years ..you Cant redistrict that..So Long Chas!

"I think that people are pretty satisfied". who is Crist talking to? Delusional is a gross understatement here.

I am certainly not satisfied with property taxes, Citizens, home values, budget cuts to vital state programs, and i most certainly am not satisfied with Crist.

Compare Crist's nonsense to this: Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said the GOP should be honest in analyzing last week's Election Day loss.

"We gave them reason to fire us," he said.

Now the party has to match its fiscal conservatism and other promises with action, Jindal added: "Our bumper-sticker message can't be, 'Vote Republican because the other side is worse.'

"We’re not going to win debates or elections…by simply trying to be cheaper versions of the Democratic Party," he said, stressing fighting for fiscal conservatism and against corruption.

Does the "People's Governor" mean speaking for them without listening? They are pretty satisfied? Go to my website to get job?

Charlie it takes more than cheerleading to turn the economy around.

Great website!!!

I, for one, will vote for anyone who runs against Crist, be it Democrat or Republican. If it looks as if Alex Sink is running against Crist, I'll support her if he doesn't get the axe during in the GOP primary.

As it is, Sink is more conservative than Crist.

Who else can run in the primary against Charlie Crist? Is there anyone, or do we have to wait until 2014 (since he can now legally keep his job as Governor and run for President, due to the law he crafted and signed)? So do we have to wait till he loses the primary run for President then is termed out before we have some real leadership in this state (not corrupted Alex Sink - have to do better than that)

I'm sick and tired of Charlie's blind optimism. What we need is some straight talk. Things are bad. As bad as they have been in a very long time. And they are only going to get worse. Economists are project 10 percent unemployment before this is all over. Some places in Florida, like Ft. Myers (home of the Lt Gov by they way) are already there. The state is short about $5 billion. Education will get slashed, and people are going to die because of the coming cuts to health care. People are already dying b/c they can't afford insurance. People's retirement accounts have been devastated. Florida is leading the nation in property value decline and forclosures.

But the People's Governor thinks people are satisfied? He thinks jobs are available? I don't get it.

Just because someone hands you talking points that says this ridiculous stuff doesn't make it so, Governor.

We have some very capable people who can and probably WLL challenge Empy-Suit-Charlie for the Republican nomination. Otherwise, it is easy to predict that we lose the Florida Gvernor's mansion in 2010.

Are you kidding me?

"people are going to die because of the coming cuts to health care. People are already dying b/c they can't afford insurance. "

LOL- nothing like scaring people to promote your selfish agenda

Palin is the new leader of the Republican Party, and we've never looked better.
