Greer distances himself from RNC talk

Chairman_greer Jim Greer says he wants to be part of the national discussion of where the Republican Party is headed, but when asked if he would be interested in the RNC job he replied, "I really don't think so."

Sounding Cristlike, he added: "I'm running for re-election of chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. We're a battleground state. There's a lot of satisfaction of what we can do here in Florida that you don't need to hold another office."

In an interview this afternoon, Greer said he's planning a statewide listening tour to hear from ordinary Republicans and independents. "I'd like to see if we're doing things right or if we can improve upon things or if there are areas we're not seeing that we could focus on."

Greer also said he's planning to reduce the party budget but said that at this point he does not have specifics. He said he is also planning additional Hispanic and African-American outreach forums.

Greer said Sen. Barack Obama's win was a disappointment but little could have been done.

“They had more money and more resources to run a campaign in Florida than we’ve ever seen. That’s a challenge when your campaign is limited. The national political environment was seeking a new direction.”

But considering how voters embraced the gay marriage ban and constitutional amendments calling for tax cuts and retained most Republican incumbents, Greer said he awoke feeling refreshed.

“I didn’t have any visions that, 'Oh, my goodness, the party is failing.' This is a bright, sunny day for the Republican Party of Florida.”

"Distances himself?" Sounds to me like he just dropped out. He should do himself a favor and just not seek re-election.

GREER is the man

Jim Greer had nothing to do with the success for Republicans in the state. He isn't interested suddenly because he has no shot. He is a fairweather friend just like CC going back to Tallahassee last night for "legal issues" What a traitor.

"I'd like to see if we're doing things right or if we can improve upon things or if there are areas we're not seeing that we could focus on."

---

Jim Greer is criticized for squandering money on unecessary travel and token outreach.

So Jim Greer plans a listening tour, requiring more unecessary travel and token outreach.

Let me save you some time and the Party some money Jim Greer: The best thing you can do to improve the Party is to not seek a second term as Chairman.

Either Greer goes or the Party will lose many valuable contributors and members to NPA status!!!

Jimbo let me save you the trouble of all that listening and touring.

Never put your picture on another thing. Nothing.

Buy a small used car. Need to go somewhere? Drive.

Lose the yes men and flunkies.

Quit playing in Republican primaries.

Take some responsibilty for the meltdown last night. Show some humility. Make it real humility, not listening tour fake humility.

Eat a salad every now and then.

CC will throw Greer under the bus before January.

He needs to resign.

Greer should also listen to Democrats. They are the best equipped to tell him what happened.

I ate a lot of Mexican food last night. I need to take a Greer.

Greer talked a lot of trash yesterday.

How's the Presidency working for ya' Jimmy? LOL.

Why take a bus tour?

Explain to people why less government, ethics and lower taxes are best for everyone. It's pretty simple really.

I have a lot to say to Jim when he makes his tour... how poorly the McCain campaign was run and how we will get a Democrat Governor electedin 2010 with his brilliant leadership.

In 10 years this state will be controlled by democrats. The republican party in florida is very right wing and the state is crumbling around them. More and more counties are turning blue or purple. Can't gerrymander effectively much longer boys. As this state sinks further, so will your party.

Greer Fall on Your Sword, for the love of G-d.

This tour is the same crap you started with...tour etc. Been there, done that.

You already HAVE a African american and Hispanic American Coalition as well as a women's coalition

YOU DID NOT USE THEM to elect the party's choice of the leader of the free worls after your bud CC shoved him down our throats.

You spent more money- $3 MILLION dollars in an off election year - and let Florida win.

Carol Jean where are you?

Greer should leave w/ some dignity. Florida is a laughing stock! The sword, Jim, the sword. do it now

Who ever thought Greer was in the running?

Who outside of FL ever heard of Crist?

They are dillusional! The sword please!

GREER, DO US ALL A FAVOR AND GET THE HECK OUT OF THE RPOF.

YOU, ARLENE, CRIST, THE FRENCHMAN, AND THE REST OF YOU FAIRWEATHER UNPRINCIPLED "REPUBLICANS OUT OF CONVENIENCE" NEED TO GET LOST.

YOU HAVE CAUSED ENOUGH HARM TO THE PARTY.

Greer is not in the running. He is a loser. READ toast!

How big of him to drop out of the running for RNC.

...I guess like CC dropped out of the VP nomination. right.

YOU ARE NOT IN THE RUNNING

the sword, Jim the sword.

Please do not embarrass yourself or us any more...audit audit

Greer/Charlie, you both have used the party to promote ONLY yourselves instead of the principles that made this party great.

It all started when you two traitors decided to cancel the straw poll last year to cover for your fellow GOP backstabber McCain, then it continued in using the RPOF and the Governor's Office as satelite McCain offices during the primaries, culiminating in a tasteless endorsement of McCain hours before the Florida primary.

Had you done all that out of principle because you believed in McCain is one thing, but you did it because you thought you had a shot at being chosen for VP, then when you weren't, you, Arlene and the Frenchman picked up your toys and made Florida go blue.

SHAME ON YOU GREER AND CRIST.

Greer, you should resign or gracefuly decide to not seek reelection, and Crist, you should be true to yourself and just switch parties.

YES 10:36, let's see what the audit shows. How much did Greer and his entourage spend on travel expenses this election cycle.

I'm sure it's more than Carole Jean Jordan, Al Cardenas, and Tom Slade combined.

Paging Mr. Slade.

Greer (and the Charlie Crist shrine he has in his RPOF office) needs to go.

What is it with this guy and his listening tours? It's like Crist forming a "work study group" everytime anything comes up.

Time to go, Greer.

Greer has got to go, period. The grassroots folks that actually do the work, not just hob nob with like minded butt slapers over chicken dinners have lost confidence in party leadership. Hear that Greer. If it was not for Palin we would have had nothing to work with, absolutely nothing. There were women without resources who have never been politically involved that got motivated, used some common sense applied some effort and got something done. They are the ones that contacted people, put out information fliers, took the flak in public when they were out sign waving etc. One thing is for sure until I see some of you suit and dress wearing slick talkers get a precinct list, clipboard full of voter registration cards and hit the streets and backroads in non-red areas you can forget another dime, day of voluteering or even a passing word about the RPOF from me. Get out of the A/C, lock the office door and get amongst the people otherwise you are useless because you got beat from the ground up with your head stuck in the clouds. Without Palin and her energy you would have totally crashed and burned.

President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama President Obama.

How mortifying for any half-educated, half-intelligent, half-caring, half-discerning person who has been a Republican for a lifetime; this party in the state of Florida is embarassing.

One would think that in a state of over 18 million, there is some talent more responsible and effective than Jim Greer to run this show.
How on earth was he placed into this position? And from where did he come? Please save the party for 2010, 2012, etc.
The constant show and laughable press releases without positive electoral results to partially justify any of this silly behavior is completely ridiculous.

He's not interested? Ha-ha-ha... He's so interested he can't sleep at night but with his and Chuck's outstanding performance this election cycle in turning a red state blue he is no longer in the running. I guess that means Bill Bunting will have to stop eyeing Jim Greer's job, but will he? Let's all watch and see...

10:38 you nailed it.

Seeing Florida in the blue column last night was unbelievable.

I bet Peter Boulware would have won had Greer/RPOF done more than shouting the occasional "hey guys! good job!" Peter should've won.

Greer lost the state he has to go. He has to resign. He has no choice.

His boys have to go too. The paid staff spend too much time telling him what he wants to hear and listenting to him at the Slipper bar while he performs keroke.

Greer pays for the losses with his job...it is always done that way.

Greer would never have been elected RNC chair-- no one liked him. Thought he was arrogant and fulll of him self. He is a legend in his own mind!

Villalobos is switching to Democrat before the session. Guess the D's will pick up a seat!

Let me get this straight, this Bozo thinks he has a chance of re-election after this? He wrote off three congressional seats of which two of them won to spite his lack of support. He got involved in state committeeman/woman races and local county races all over the state during the primary which created great discord which resonates to this day. When Presidency IV was planned by CJJ there was to be a straw poll but Greer and Crist stifled it. They knew that neither McCain or Giuliani would win it and if they weren't guaranteed that a RINO in the mold of Crist himself would win they wanted no part of it. They first stifled the troops and then with the last minute endorsement by Chuck and the gun endorsement from Bunting they managed to cram McCain through to victory in the Primary. How did they talk Bunting into abandoning the one issue you thought you could trust the guy on? The email he sent to gunshow patrons hailed McCain as a strong second amendment supporter. These would be the same gun shows where McCain and Lieberman tried to outlaw private sales without a background check. Then, after all of this political maneuvering they abandoned McCain and actually insulted Palin during the general election. Greer had the audacity to criticize the Palin pick over Crist, ridiculous, Crist would have never energized the base, the base can't stand him! The effort here was laughable at best, no groundgame, unless you count dozens of repetitive phone calls. And Greer's idea of involving boyscouts? Strange idea Jimbo, they don't vote. We don't go to college campuses but we want to go to boyscout meetings? Gee Dough Boy that's a great idea...maybe next time you should add day care centers and maternity wards to your list of outreaches. Greer you need to go now, like yesterday.

Amen, true conservative.

Greer is just in it for the glamour of the position, and Crist just uses the party as his own personal PR firm. It's disgusting what these guys have done to the Republican party in this state.

The best thing that can happen to Florida Republicans is to see Greer lose in January, see Crist lose in 2010, and see the Frenchman, Sharon Day, and Arlene take a hike yesterday.

that is good it will surely help, maybe it can change everything thanks for give such a informative subject

Lost the state lost the budget democrats out registered us. Yeah lets rehire him.

If he worked for my company he would be fired

Greer - How about listening to this - PLEASE go away. When you started shutting Republicans out of primaries with early endorsing, and then getting involved down to the state committeeman races, it is painfully obviously you don't give a darn what anyone else thinks and wants. Too late. The comment about Palin in the New York Times should have been automatic dismissal. Please go away now.

Greer wants everyone to forget that he, Crist, Ballard, and Arlene are responsible for Florida going blue.

They are the ones who picked McCain even though they knew that McCain was barely a Republican.

They canceled the traditional straw poll because they knew real Florida Republicans would never choose McCain.

They endorsed late in the primary and lets not forget took credit for winning Florida for McCain.

They raised $30 million in Florida for McCain and bragged about it constantly.

Now they will try to pretend they had nothing to do with this disaster. Just watch. Nobody at the Party will take responsibility for what they did. They will say it was all the fault of McCain's team in DC. They will say they didn't have enough money. They will say anything other than the truth: They picked the wrong candidate and then ran an incompetent campaign.

Greer is a political disgrace. Under his leadership the Republican party has lost seats in the State House, Congress not to mention we lost the state in the presidential race. This guy is a political negative!
The RNC needs leadership from a mind like Newt's.......not this bozo!

when greer appeared outside of mahoney's office demanding resignation, during the heat and final days of the campaign, it spoke volumes of who greer really is. he has the audacity to point fingers at someone else's moral frailities while he does the same things? Couldn't Greer see there were more important tasks at hand on that day. Voters would take care of Mahoney. No one needs Greer to be the morality leader - no one would buy it anyway!

the sooner Greer and Crist are out the better for all - whether republican, democrat, independent.

I can't believe what I am reading. You want to blame someone for Florida going blue? We could blame the failed leadership of the past eight years. We could blame the failed economy. We could blame ourselves for not supporting our party. To say it's one or two people's fault is ignorant. The Democrats could of nominated a jelly doughnut to run against McCain and Tuesday we would have millions out to the polls voting for a jelly doughnut. Fact of the matter is the word Republican has left a sour taste in the mouth of many Floridians many Americans. We need to revamp, refresh and focus on the key elements that made this party great. We also need someone who can lead us to victory in 2012. That person is Greer. We lost. Let's get over it and figure out in the next four years how we are going to win.

All hail Jelly Doughnut!

The old jelly doughnut defense. Works every time. The point is that if a jelly doughnut could have beaten McCain, Jim Greer is responsible for picking McCain.

I think it depends on whether it was a raspberry or grape filled doughnut.

Greer is a good strong leader.

Greer is going to spend even more money touring the state???

Imagine that!

Greer aka 9:15 is blogging about himself again.

Stay in Jim! We need to get rid of those Old self serving people who send that hate mail!! They want our party to ramain faaaaaaaaaaaaar right and you are trying to bring us bake to our basic values of being Republicans. Less government, less taxes, more personal freedom! PERIOD!!

Disgruntled women trying to get rid of Greer because he wants them to all play nice together. Why is it that women can't support women?
