McCain: 'Nothing is inevitable!'
[Photo by Scott Keeler | Times]
John McCain just finished a quick, rousing speech in Tampa. "We will win Florida and we will win this race. There is one day left until we take America in a new direction, my friends. We need your help and we win!...Nothing is inevitable here! We never give up, we never quit!"
He talked about the troops returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan in victory, not defeat. He talked about his records fighting for change in Washington, and Barack Obama's lack thereof. And he talked about cutting taxes, not raising them.
"Sen Obama's massive tax increases would kill jobs, make our economy worse,'' McCain said, drawing cheers of No-Bama! No-Bama"
"Nothing is inevitable here! We never give up, we never quit!"
Charlie Crist to the crowd: "Are you ready to deliver a Florida victory for John McCain!?"
Former Buc Mike Alstott introduced McCain: "We can trust John McCain to put his country first because that's what he's always done."

Someone tell the old man that his direction isn't a new one. It is just more of the same downward spiral that Shrub has fed us for eight years.
Thank God we will see the change in direction we so need tomorrow evening when Obama becomes the 44th president of the United States!

A socialist utopia is inevitable when Obama is elected tomorrow!
March on for communism, Comrades!

Really, all you have against McCain is that he's old, and you don't like older people (how tolerant, how diverse!) and that he sometimes was on the same side as Bush?
Contrary to Obama's propaganda and the short-term memory (apparently) of his followers, McCain on many, many occasions differed with Bush AND with the GOP. Hence the "maverick" name. On the other hand, hand, Obama didn't once go against his own party.
Obama's direction isn't a new one, despite the hype and the media's adoration of the guy.
It's the same old Far Left radical, knee-jerk liberal Dem, tax-and-spend approach that he has been rubber-stamping during his unimpressive and short career in the national political arena. And on top of that, he's closely associated himself with openly anti-Semitic friends.
Sad that the Dems couldn't have picked someone of substance and without so many shady associations.
And sad that apparently so many people are using their emotions, not their brains, to make their decision.

A perennial fumbler is going to tell us who we can trust with the rock?
I don't think so.

How many people were there? Not many from the pic I saw, and the other article I read that said it was "modestly attended." Some more info would be nice here...

Why is John McCain too lazy to develop some policies that might give us options for receovering from our economic crisis? Instead, he just takes over the Bush polices, lock, stock, and barrel. We alredy know that those policies don't work. Maybe if McCain had spent some time with his staff to come up with some solutions, instead of just thinking up new attacks, he might have created something that would find favor with voter. As it is, he deserves to lose for taking the lazy route and insulting us with more Bush garbage.

You repiggies showed colossally horrible judgement in backing Bush/Cheney twice, and yet you dare to criticize the judgement of Obama suppporters. You people live in bizarro world.

OBAMA IS NOT GOING TO RAISE YOUR TAXES UNLESS YOU ARE A FREAKING MILLIONAIRE
Posted by: Ch | November 03, 2008 at 01:35 PM
Obama. The least qualified man to run for President since Franklin Pierce. He's corrupt and has firmly backed corruption in Chicago. He has no real convictions and will promise anything to win.
Obama. The media hype machine. The man the media has rigged the polls for in an attempt to scare away voters.
Obama. The man that will be severely disappointed tomorrow.
I hope you all that vote for him enjoy your massive depression and tears on Wednesday. Of course you'll just claim the election was stolen again. It can never be that most Americans reject your ridiculous, disproven leftist dogma.
Obama will lose tomorrow and then lose his Senate seat in two year. He will be a footnote to history.
Posted by: Me | November 03, 2008 at 01:43 PM
Ch,
Have you only recently begun to pay attention to politics?
Bill Clinton made nearly the exact same promises during his 1992 campaign and what did he do? He raised taxes on the middle class (as well as everyone else).
Look, there is no way Obama can pay for all of his grand plans without raising taxes on everyone.
This may come as a shock to those of you whose blind faith in this charlatan causes you to ignore history (and math) but sometimes politicians don't follow through on promises made during their campaigns.
In this particular instance I would suggest some real research. Not wikipedia, not the huffington post, not the daily kos.

"OBAMA IS NOT GOING TO RAISE YOUR TAXES UNLESS YOU ARE A FREAKING MILLIONAIRE"
The Bush tax cuts provided an across-the-board tax cut. EVERY taxpayer got a cut under Bush. Period. This is not even up for discussion.
Now along comes Obama and says that he wants to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010. So whatever "tax cut" he provides to the middle class will at the least offset the increase those people will see when he allows the Bush tax cuts to expire.
At the very worst, Obama's "tax cut" will not be enough to offset this increase and those middle class people will actually see a tax increase.
Get it? Do you idiots get it now?
I see your deer-in-the-headlights look. Just nod your heads and pretend...

Wow i lost a lot of respect for Alstott
Posted by: Sal | November 03, 2008 at 02:18 PM
Where's all the outrage at Alstott for using his position with the Bucs to endorse McCain? Why aren't the same people who raged against six Rays introducing Obama two weeks ago criticizing Mike. I guess it's ok for a white athlete to endorse a white candidate, but not for black, Hispanic and white players to endorse a multiracial candidate. Hypocrisy reigns on the right.
Posted by: Marty | November 03, 2008 at 03:26 PM
1:35 you are being fooled: Obama will raise EVERYBODY'S taxes. Obama's idea of redistribution fo wealth iss to tax ALL who work to carry those who don't. That includes you, chump, if you have a job and pay taxes.

Oh, John McCain, please win this race!
We need an honest "yoda" face. Your integrity outshines blinding smiles and M&M candy. The only colors we want to see?...
RED, WHITE and BLUE waving proudly!
We are young, and have perserving minds-who finish first and play hard.
We want you to win so you don't raise our college taxes, so Mom and Pop can retire and pay for their own medicare.
We need you where it counts the most-
Our Country First-USA!
We know Sarah will taken on Amendments
so you can concentrate on keeping our country safe!
Good luck John and Sarah-we love you both,
USF-students who are voting for you approved! Elizabeth, Angela, Leanna, Angie, and friends.

We all already know that our taxes will go up with Obama. How do you manage to think that the same won't happen with McCain? You can't get this country out of the Mess that GW created without raising taxes, deal with it. I don't believe either of these people is good for this country at this time and will not be casting my vote for either of them. I will exercise my right to write in my vote. But the amount of hatefilled rehetoric from Republicans in this column tells me they are starting to panic in the face of defeat. I hope they are good and scared, like the rest of us have been for the past 8 years. Now the shoe is on the other foot and you will have to live with it just like we did.

"How do you manage to think that the same won't happen with McCain?"
Because McCain understands that when you let people keep what they worked for, they work harder. Their businesses expand and hire more people.
McCain's is a plan for wealth CREATION.
Obama's is a plan for wealth REDISTRIBUTION.
But it is government spending that has to come under control. McCain will veto any crap that Pelosi/Reid try to ram down our throats. Do you think Obama will?
I would rather have McCain holding the veto pen...

Thanks for making me an hour and a half late to work, McSame!!! Stay out of Tampa...

Come to the close of the polls tomorrow... it wil be:
BAKED ALASKA FOR EVERYONE!!
And yes there were only about 1000 McCain "supporters" at his rally today. Kind of sad..
-------------------------
So a tax cut for the wealthy is considered conservative? To "trickle down?"
But a tax cut for the working-class is considered welfare?
--------------------------
honestly, it is really sad watching John's career on it's final leg, his political career rapidly coming to an end..
Good Luck fishing at Sedona soon, John ...Good Luck
Can we have a final rally call for the once senator and one time Republican Presidential nominee .... JOHN MCCAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!

Yeah...only 1000 supporters for McCain....9am on a Monday....gee...most of McCain's supporters WERE AT WORK....BEING RESPONSIBLE....I have to be at work so I can pay for all of those that are too lazy to do so themselves....and under Obama that number will quadruple
Posted by: gman | November 03, 2008 at 10:32 PM
mccain supporters, like myself, actually have jobs and work. that is why the rally was "moderately attended." obama's idea of change is not what most people in this country want. he will most likely win but people are not getting the whole picture, in terms of what exactly he means by change. change can be very, very bad too. remember that, please.
Posted by: jma9 | November 04, 2008 at 12:31 AM
i don't make $250k a year (or is it $200k a year, or better yet, $150k per year; that number keeps getting lower and lower). i do understand that obama will not renew the bush tax cuts and my taxes will go up in 2 years. so, as a middle class guy, how is that not a tax increase for me? obama is very easy to see through. unfortunately, the media has not done their job and mccain's campaign flat out dropped the ball.

Why is John McCain cashing social security checks at around eleven hundred dollars a month, when he is a multi-millionaire? So we have to work until were 72 to pay for those behind us. Stop trading your life to pay for McCain's pocket change. Vote OBAMA/BIDEN
Posted by: bouttime08 | November 04, 2008 at 10:05 AM
Tax RELIEF for families under $250K
Tax CUT for families under $200K
Therefore, the largest part of that demographic he is speaking to is in the velow the $150K range. If Repug's lie to try to keep the most promising candidate out of the White House... what lengths do they go to limit job opportunities for you? Do they lie to the boss about you to get the promotion for themselves?
Posted by: bouttime08 | November 04, 2008 at 10:11 AM
McCain’s 2007 tax return shows Social Security benefits of $23,157 for the year, an average of $1,929.75 a month.
