Q poll: 50% would re-elect Crist, 36% Martinez
Quinnipiac 11/11-16 Fla poll (moe +/-2.7%): "Florida Gov. Charlie Crist remains overwhelmingly popular with a 68 - 18 percent job approval rating that makes him a strong favorite for re-election in 2010, but Sen. Mel Martinez's 42 - 33 percent approval rating makes him much more vulnerable, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. ...
"Attorney General Bill McCollum gets a 51 percent job approval rating, three times the 17 percent who give him a thumbs down verdict. CFO Sink has a 35 - 21 percent job approval rating, while U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson gets a 51 - 22 percent score. "

Q poll: 50% would re-elect Crist.
Well they don't call it FloriDUH for nothing.
The same 50% would probably re-elect Bush-Cheney.
See where our 50th place public school system has gotten us?
Way to go FloriDUH. Land of ninkompoops, nitwits and morons and proud of it.
We've got great football teams even if our populace is primarily a bunch of turdbrains!

I think people realize that the only electable Republicans are moderates. The mood of the country has changed since the neo-con platform has been exposed as an economic failure. People only have time to argue about wedge issues when all their other ducks are in a row. When the majority of Americans have decent jobs, health care, retirement, and education for their kids, then they will worry about the minor issues that held the neo-con coalition together.

Our time tested GOTV operation will re-elect Mel Martinez, just like it delivered the state for John McCain. Just as I did in 2008, I will personally oversee the entire operation from my personal chartered jet.
The Democrats don't know what they are doing and can't win Florida. There is nothing to worry about.

Shoulda voted for the people, Mel, not with Pelosi.
That financial bailout/giveaway/fleecing plan could have died a quiet death and capitalism would have run its painful but fair course. Instead, you and a few others caved. Now our livelihoods are in a socialist death spiral. Goodbye, buddy. Look what you caused.

and 50% would NOT re-elect Crist, so how is this so wonderful for him?
Let's see this poll after the State Budget is released this Friday, after more cuts are made to vital services, and after Obama is sworn in...

10:02 I don't agree, the FL Republican party merely lacks effective principled leadership.
This is leadership:

10:04 Of course you wouldn't agree. You're so full of Kool-Aid, your eyeballs are purple. Leadership isn't the problem, it's the neo-con agenda that the old guard leadership is devoted to. Don't say I didn't warn you, though. The people want change and obstructionists are not going to be welcome.

10:14, rather
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 10:34 AM
10:11 Please don't confuse social responsibility with socialism. At least in dumping the conservatives from power, we may have rescued our nation's middle class from the feudalist death spiral the rich were trying to orchestrate.
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 10:38 AM
10:14 is correct. Mr. O'Bama swept into power on a well-oiled and well financed campaign that energized many, many young people and a huge swath of minorities who may have never voted before...and who wanted change. Any kind of change.
Now after a year or two, these enthusiastic young 18 to 29 year olds will have seen giveaway after giveaway to huge corporations. Giveaways engineered by Madame Pelosi and eagerly signed by Senor O'Bama. And it won't take them long to know THEY are not getting those billions in this new land of milk and honey. But they will know that it is THEY who will be getting the bill.
Doesn't take long for a crowd to turn ugly. I expect by 2012, they'll be ready to vote for even Joe the plumber. Anybody that offers them....CHANGE. So enjoy your vendetta while you can, Mr. Koolaid man.

10:02 you may be right. But Charlie Crist is neither a "moderate" nor much of a "conservative". In fact, the only ideology that guides him is pushing himself higher and higher.
CC voted to ban Gay mariege. That's pretty "conservative".
CC also betrayed the mcCain campaign when he failed to make VP.
So he's nothing - just a cristine. Soon to become extinct.
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM
10:48 Do you really think they will blame the DEMs if they can't fix the problems the conservatives caused, or do you think they will blame the conservatives who caused them? Do you think they will blame "Government" or blame the bad government of the GOP? Keep on obstructing change and vending the neo-con Kool-Aid; maybe you can trick the people again, maybe not. I will do my small part to make sure that your responsibility for our problems and lack of cooperation in fixing them remains as much in the spotlight as possible.
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 11:01 AM
11:01 You may be right - perhaps the Bush fallout means no one will trust any Republican. Charlie is just the lesser of two evils. For example, he still wants to bailout his pals at Big Sugar; one of the more obvious corporate paybacks I've seen from a pol.
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Don't give up yet, Kool Aid girl. At least TRY to fix the problems.
Posted by: Andrew Allan, Values Voter | November 18, 2008 at 11:11 AM
11:11 OK, I'll throw my support behind the party of real change and ignore your defeatist lies and spin. As for your personal problems, I think that like many ceo-cons, you just lack human decency.
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 11:18 AM
The first columns of the hyper-pro O'bama liberal columnists exulted in their victory. And like monkeys squealing from the treetops, their second jeered at the Republicans and Palin in particular for their loss. The third for almost all were stupendous displays of backpedaling with words like "campaign promises aside, don't expect too much change..." Actually, there's a perfect example in the post at 11:01 "blame the DEMS if they can't fix the problems." Ah, victory is sweet, ain't it, when you can make excuses.

11:19 I believe Bush and the GOP intended the economic mess to be unfixable, just so that heartless anti-government fanatics like you could do exactly what you're doing - redirecting the responsibility for the neo-con mess towards the civil servants you hate so much. If you can't bend government to your will as a tool of the corporations, at least render it ineffective so that it can't help the average citizen to save themselves from the predations of the rich. I'm so so glad people are waking up to your traitorous ploy; will it be soon enough?
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 11:41 AM
11:41
I'm sure that is what Bush and the GOP intended to do. Secret meetings where we all met and said 'Let's destroy the economy so we lose the Presidency, the Democrats potentially get fillibuster proof majorities in the Congress, there are massive Government bailouts ensuring more Government control over major industries and Wall Street'
Good plan - worked well. Just what we wanted.
Posted by: Gator(R) | November 18, 2008 at 12:03 PM
11:19 - Calm down, young lady. Actually I kind of agree with some of what you say. I don't find it that far fetched to believe Mr. Bush knew this bailout would be a fiasco...but also knew that Nancy Pelosi couldn't resist a giveaway and a move toward socialism.
And trust me, I don't hate all civil servants. There are millions of hard-working men and women in all sorts of government employment who make our days liveable and I appreciate it. There are also many who are overpaid, underworked and wasteful.
I'm not a tool of corporations. I wouldn't be surprised if my annual compensation is less than yours. As for the "predations of the rich" (my, you can turn a fancy phrase!), take a look at the incomes of ALL our representatives and senators. Both Republican and Democrat. You'll see a healthy dose of millionaire's disease on both sides of the aisle.
But also check their voting records. Just being rich doesn't mean they want to hose the little guy. Many of them started out as little guys. Guys just like our new president.

Isn't "industry" and "government" the same thing? A bunch of rich people making decisions for the rest of us...
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 12:21 PM
50% re-elect number is usually considered -- bad.
Plus 68% approval and 50% re-elect makes it clear the support is all soft.
Posted by: | November 18, 2008 at 01:03 PM
12:03 Sounds like a farfetched conspiracy theory, doesn't it? Too bad there were Bush-watchers who predicted it well before the 2004 election. But Bush never expected to lose his Congressional majority in 2006; that was the real deal-killer for the neo-con agenda. However, his advisors could have told him that the continued transfer of the wealth from the middle class would result in his ouster for a Democrat in 2008. It's still a win-win situation for him (except for his reputation)- the rich keep getting richer and the government keeps getting more broke and powerless to stop them. You fools may yet "win" if the problem is insolvable and the public is fooled into not getting that money back from the rich or (God forbid) electing another neo-con. Of course, by "win" that presupposes that you are one of the 1% who actually benefit from neo-con policies, and not one of the vast majority of GOP Kool-Aid drinkers who support their absurd policies for no good reason other than blatant ignorance.
