Sink running for governor?
There's buzz among Democratic activists about this Facebook page for Alex Sink, which was updated to describe Sink as a candidate for governor.
But it seems to be wishful thinking by Sink fans. The CFO does not have a Facebook page, at least not one she maintains, says spokeswoman Tara Klimek.

I think the bulk of the Alex Sink fan club is Adam Smith.

She is one sharp, smart lady, with a dazzling financial and business background.

It would be nice to have a grown-up in chage of state government one of these decades.
If the Republicans try to primary Charlie, CFO Sink could have a good chance.

Too many strange dealings in that office.

More support for the draft movement! Trust me the fan club for Alex Sink is much bigger than one.
Check out Draft Alex:

By contrast, Sarah Palin is such a birdbrain.

of course she's running. That's why she's suddenly calling press conferences and generally acting like she is somehow relevant.

Finally---a woman other women can be proud to support!!
Anyone who thinks her fan club is small is deluded. She still has so many friends from pre-government, not to mention all those who are impressed by her CFO performance.

I can see it now. Charlie The Tan whipped out of office.
Go Alex!!!!

Geez, Alex. Have you no shame? Enough of these self-promoting posts.

"CFO performance"? I guess you're right - it has been one staged event after another. quite a performance but no substance.

Ms. Sink should make a name for herself before seeking promotion. Like Charlie did. Or like Mayor Rick Baker. I don't like everything Baker has done, but he is certainly a mover and a shaker. He would be a better candidate for Governor than Ms. Sink.
But that's not to say it's too late for Ms. Sink. There are lots of things she could do to boost her image. Pro voter things.
I mentioned the despicable payday loan outlets yesterday. If as someone noted she is not in a position to regulate them, there's nothing saying she can't make some noise about it, as she has done recently in seeking a special legislative session.
Her legislative session stance looks like grandstanding, whereas seeking to protect poor people would show some genuine concern. She DOES care about poor people, I assume?
Also she could step out on a limb and recommend ways to deal with the current economic mess. Shedding some light on bad effects of variable rate mortgages would be useful. How could we get people back in their homes that were kicked out because of variable rate mortgages? She IS a financial expert, is she not?
Just some friendly suggestions. Anyone else have some constructive suggestions for Ms. Sink?

Let's see. Alex Sink is in Tallahassee working and trying to get others to move in the face of the biggest financial crisi of our generation.
Charlie Crist is ... doing nothing but promoting himself... Hmmmm

Maybe she'll do better than her husband did!

2:33 I have a question for YOU. What HAS Charlie done?
Posted by: | November 13, 2008 at 03:00 PM
Glad you asked.

This is some pretty good stuff on Charlie, also:

Now go and compare Alex Sink's wikipedia page. You'll see she has a lot of filling out to do before stepping in as head of florida. Doesn't mean she can't eventually. She's just not ready yet.

And to your point at 2:59 -
It made me stop and think. What would happen if state government ran out of money? I think that's what Charlie is pushing to find out. And it's a good thing. There's just too many hogs at the trough at this point.
When they start running out of money, where should we cut first?

Not to worry, Obama gonna' pay my mortgage and put gas in my car!

Andrew, by "too many hogs at the trough" I assume you are talking about the big business supporters for the GOP who are always lining up for tax cuts and corporate welfare? The ones who want to eliminate even more government positions so that they can plunder and pave over our state and line their pockets without concern for the environment or pollution? I think we've seen the error of that strategy. I hope we create lots of regulatory postions to help keep the big boys in line. America for Americans.

3:59 - To your last sentence, I say make 'em $30 to $40K WORKERS instead of $150K "management" and I'd agree with you. But the hogs at the trough are as much inside government as outside. Too much dead weight at the state making way too much money. Charlie's right, we need to trim the fat.
Coincidentally, this might be one way for Alex to earn her stripes. Let her use her skill to crunch some numbers and show us how we can balance the budget without raising taxes.
There's a lot of waste and you know it. People are seeing their wages stagnate - if they have a job at all - while watching their savings dwindle to nothing. (And you know very well it is a situation brought on as much by democrat greed as republican.)
Now is NOT a time for a tax increase. If you do that, you may as well go on tv tonite and say "let them eat cake."

Sink is a tax raising idiot.

No one knows who Alex Sink is. You ask 10 Floridians on the streets, I bet you won't get more than 1 person who knows who she is?
Most may even think Alex is a man.
She has no chance.
Give it up Adam Smith.
