What a typical liberal smear. The story can't be about traditional wedding. You had to include the homosexual agenda. Typical liberal slant. No wonder the papers are going under

Um, hey tex, you know that All Men Are Created Equal thing, yeah.
I'm a straight, anti-war, pro-gun, pro-choice, atheist republican.
Rights are rights, regardless of gender or orientation.
The dividing of rights umong groups is itself racist. We should do as they do in Denmark and grant civil union certificates to ALL couples, straight or married, and then allow them to find a church that is willing to perform their serivce for them to declare that they are "married".
I don't think people with your intelligence level should breed. Does that mean i should make it a law?
Think, bronco.

I cannot wait until someone strips you ignorant homophobes of your rights, and then tells you its justified by their religion and morality and that you should "deal with it".
I'm no lefty, but you people who consume yourselves with other peoples's lifestyles are beyond worthless.
You're probably the same bible toting freaks who want to put the 10 Commandments into schools and court rooms.
Which version though? (yeah, that's right, there are multiple versions. look it up in your fairy tale bible)
But when you get it passed, just remember if/when there may be a muslim majority in our nation(no, I am an atheist) and they want to post the Koran in public buildings that it was you short sighted hypocritical Chrisitians that paved the way. It's called statutory law, and you're killing the Constitution.

Who cares? Why are they more important than anyone else who gets married in Florida? Let's all focus on the real issues affecting Floridians. Health Care, Home Owners Insurance, Job Security & Social Services. These are the issues that we should be focused on. Who cares if our Governor is single or married. Then again, now that she is the first lady, maybe she'll use some of her money to help the rest of us.
Posted by: Butch | December 12, 2008 at 10:40 PM
In response to protester who asks "when can I get married",the answer is:Anytime you like.Any man can marry any woman.
Also,it's sickening how the papers have to turn any news story into homo propaganda.

I watched the video and thought it was funny when Carole Crist said "how sweet," in reference to the protesters in Williams Park screaming what sounded like, "Charlie Crist is a murderer." At least the couple maintained their sense of humor. They look happy.
I disagree with Crist's stand against same sex marriage, but I'm still glad he is happy. Now, maybe after he gets back from his honeymoon he will be able to concentrate on trying to solve some of Florida's many problems.

This is a beautiful montage of wedding photos for a loving couple. It is sad that people protest this event because they are advocating non-legal marriages.
The gay marriage advocates argue that society is taking away their rights. The governor is exercising his right to marriage between a man and a woman. Rights are not taken away when people want to marry anything other than a person of the opposite sex.
It is sad to think that same-sex marriage advocates believe they are denied rights. They are welcome to marry persons of an opposite sex and are not denied that right. Marrying any other being or object that does not fit within that parameter is not codified in law or the mores of America. Otherwise, some people would be married to a flat-screen, a mini-fridge or a gaming device. The issue is the expanding of rights and it is a slippery slope.
My hat is off to the governor. She is really freakin' hot and he is a lucky gray haired man with a lot of spunk. This gay agenda and the illogical arguments and protests only make voters more happy to vote down gay agendas. Personally, I vote no on marrying anything other than a human.

Posted by: Gary | December 13, 2008 at 02:46 AM
Well said, Gary. Of course, it's not about a "right" to anything; it's about intimidating everyone else to applaud homosexuality, which is why they're so bitter, angry, intolerant, and bigoted against religion.
Posted by: A.C. | December 13, 2008 at 04:13 AM
I don't advocate homosexuality however, I respect their choice and leave them alone. It's a shame they couldn't give this same respect to this couple on their wedding day. They just made the homosexuality community look worse and certainly didn't help their cause.

Social scientist and anthropologist in the past would be able to look at a picture of someone and discern homosexual behavior. If you've ever spent any time around homosexuals it won't take long to see there's real instability, and rage beneath the surface. The women often look bitter, haggard, and angry, the men- well they just look creepy. Young people who are invoved in this unnatural lifestyle are particular unstable- it's sad really they're not being told the truth. Oh by the way I was called a "breeder" by a lesbian clerk twenty years ago when I walked in a record store with my girlfriend. As far as wanting to live peacefully, that is only when gays are in the minority, get aroung them in a majority and they are often brazen and disgusting. It's a culture defined by sex, just look at how they act during gay parades and demonstrations(in front of children and youth). As our culture becomes less traditional, Christian, and more sexual more young people are experimenting with bi-sexuality. This is having a devasting effect on their bodies and souls. If you're involved in this lifestyle you are not really "living" and it's not really bigoted religious people who are making you miserable,It's your own depraved lifestyle. It's a bondage-physical, and spritual(like narcotics)which is not really freeing you, but ultimately destroying you inside and out. If tomorrow morning gay marriage was recognized nationwide and everyone in the world approved of homosexuality gays would still be bitter and angry. Gay men would still live promiscuous sexually reckless lifestyles, and gay women would still feel their life was somehow not right. There is one who can free you from bondage and give you eternal life. Go to Him.

I am amazed that the censors at the St. Petersburg Times continue to allow anti-gay slurs and words to remain in posts, yet these same censors remove anything that is offensive to certain religious sects. What's up, Times?

Somehow activist liberals couldn't them have their day without trying to ruin it... You nuts fruits and flakes will never win people to your side with these antics! Additionally, it is no wonder America is suffering so much...It has lost its moral compass! Ever since Liberal, Gay, Socialist activists have started pushing their agendas across inside the U.S. we normal citizens have lost the moral high ground. We will continue to do so until we stand up and start fighting back! Enough is enough! Time to take back this country from these low life pieces of human excrement!

Marriage is for a man and a woman. If gays want a legal binding contract recognized by our courts call their union something else. Not a marriage! What's natural about butt plugging? It's a waste hole.

I find it odd that a governor get married and you have all these fringe liberal groups protesting for government handouts to gender bending politics. So the logic must be if my pet dog needs health care and I love the dog I should force the government to recognise my pet dog as my partner so that it can get benefits?

Chris K, I saw your "moral high ground" in the televised moments at the Palin/McCain rallies with the racists and the haters. You can keep it, pal. Don't inflict your crap on me.

That governor is so gay. Marrying a woman just so his political career can take him to the White House.
Posted by: John | December 13, 2008 at 12:08 PM
There is no "right" to marry. Sorry, it just doesn't exist. That goes for everyone, by the way. You can't have a right taken away that doesn't exist. That said, I don't feel the government has any business in deciding who can or can't get married. That is a church thing. Grant civil unions to anyone who wants it and let religion decide about marriage. As a christian, it apalls me when people say God doesn't like homosexuals. Go back to Sunday School and start over.
Posted by: B.A. | December 13, 2008 at 01:40 PM
First, there is not right to marry. Doesn't exist. Second, there is nothing stopping a gay may from marrying a woman or a lesbo marrying a man.
Gay rights are not violated as they are allowed to get married. They just don't want to marry someone of the other sex. That is their preference.
We cannot legislate preferences.
Posted by: S.V. | December 13, 2008 at 01:56 PM
Can I support civil unions between loving couples and not be a bigot if I think two brothers should be excluded? Other than the repugnance of siblings fornicating, I can't think of any reason to disallow it. They certanly couldn't mess up the gene pool.

Uh... the 800-lb. elephant in the ballroom. No, I don't mean Oprah attended. I mean Charlie's obvious sexuality. There is not one single person who thought Charlie's gay before the wedding, who has changed his or her mind after. And that is how it will be in 2012, if you're reading this, Charlie.
Posted by: Henriette Wayne | December 13, 2008 at 03:31 PM
Exactly, Henriette. Yeah, Charlie. What a pathetic act. And McCain didn't pick you anyway.
Sorry a_s, yours.
Posted by: Eduardo | December 13, 2008 at 03:47 PM
And one more last thing, Chuck. Gay marriage will be legal in Fl before you die. And you will be in History as an opportunist who sold his soul and his fellow gay and lesbian citizens for the very remote chance that McCain make you VP candidate. I mean, really, did you really think that the Rep Party was going to allow a gay man one heartbeat away from the presidency? Not in your wildest Wizard-of-Oz fantasies.
Posted by: Eduardo | December 13, 2008 at 04:19 PM
I'm all for "rights," but as far as marriage goes, let's make sure we're talking about the whole picture here. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who has absolutely no problem with government honoring same-sex unions. The problem comes when calling it marriage, because the legal institution of marriage carries certain financial benefits that are specifically designed to aid the raising and support of children. There is NO right to those benefits, but they are legally tied to and entitled by marriage.
For religious reasons or not, I know of no democratic country which would vote for government subsidy or aid to encourage or support the raising of children by same-sex couples. Whether you think it is against God's law, or against evolution, it's been shunned by societies for millennia for a socially beneficial reason, and the vast majority of people around the world recognize that. (I believe that last is the very definition of "common sense.")
