Crist cool to 'Sen. Bush'? Yeah right

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist today gave his stamp of approval to a possible U.S. Senate run for former Gov. Jeb Bush, who has said he was considering a campaign for the seat Mel Martinez will leave in 2010.

"Gov. Bush would be a great candidate, and I hope that he runs,'' said Crist, speaking at Art Basel Miami Beach. "I would encourage him to run if that's what he wants to do.''

Le Dork at Le Fruity Art Show

This reminds me of Bill Clinton trying to say nice things about Barack Obama.

At Art Basel in Miami? And I actually thought he'd be in Tallahassee today. Foolish me.

Art Basel is one of Carole's charities. Poor Charlie, already abandoning his gov duties for his "wife".

Jeb Bush would go nuts in the US Senate. Havint to sit idly by and listen to 99 other longwinded Kings and Queens opine and grandstand might be enough to throw him over the edge!

ONE SURE SIGN of how low R expectations and talent pools are is the thought that anyne with the name of "bush" could be electd to do any thing other than clean a toilet with his tongue!!

fattieforsenate??!!

No more Bushes...we have suffered enough.

"... if that's what he wants to do."

Not an overwhelming endorsement, really.

Chas is a do nothing wimp he is not mean!Bush is rotten and mean ..Please run so the dems can whip you ..The economy of this state is your legacy!

evetyone knows that Jeb Bush is special, when he walks into the room he has presence, he would fire up republicans and make obama look weak....make no mistake about it - he is a smooth operator and people love him, go jeb!

After Jeb has time to think about this...think about raising money and taking on the National Democratic Party...think about working with Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid...think about being in D.C.....think about the long hours and bottles of Tums...not to mention the loss of income and loss of quality of life...not to mention that he could actually do more to change education out of office than in the U.S. Senate....

9:31 is right on the money. I have nothing further to add.

Hey do we really need another Bush in politics. He is just like George and will continue to push his own programs based on what he thinks we want. I don't need a politician telling me how to educate my kids, how to pray to God, what is right or wrong and neither do any of you. They think they have all the answers but like most politicians are out for themselves. The Bush's think we are to stupid to see what is going on but times are changing and I think most people are smart enough to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

7:20 The nonsense that Jeb is ANYTHING like George won't stick without a lot of money pushing it like Obama had in pushing the nonsense that McCain "is just like Bush".

By 1010 either Bush has totally destroyed our economy or Obama and the DEMs have started to turn things around; either way, it's not going to be a good time for an R to be running for election.

8:18 is not totaly wrong; Jeb is probably smarter than George, but even more arrogant and evil. The second worse act of fate was the election of George Bush as president; the worst would have been Jeb.

To all the liberal dolts here; be happy that the party of the socialist agenda is in power.

You will sock it to the rich for sure. You can feel better that people that worked hard on their education and risked it all in their career will be punished. After all, that is what you call fairness.

Our economy will stay depressed as long as you are in power. But that is OK with most of you because most of you are sucking off the teet of the Nanny State and insulated from all this madness; or are you?

You might want to think ahead a bit. The evil rich in this country are largely responsible for all you have. You don’t think the $100 you spend on Pot and Busch Lite is helping the economy do you? No, when the rich stop spending, we are all in for a rough ride. When they stop investing, well, you might just be calling this decade “the good old days”. They will pay less in taxes due to the “turtle up” effect. Less taxes from the evil rich means less milk from your mammas teet in DC.

The evil rich have tons of cash stuffed away and you can't get your greedy little hands on it. They will just forgo the new jet, BMW, yacht, house and catered parties for a while. They are not going into foreclosure, they are hibernating, and that’s all.

You think its bad now, wait and see what socialism brings you. The rich and powerful will still be rich and powerful. The rest will see their government cheese ration evaporate.

I will be waiting patiently for this little charade to end. I have enough to weather the storm. Gone are my lawn service guys and housekeeper; for now anyway. I have a feeling that these people can’t “turtle up”, too bad for them; too bad for you.

To all the conservative morons, you can take your Bush and stick him. We are fed up with the Bush crooks and their fawning syncophants. We don't want your crappy big government theocracy.

10:08
"hibernating"?
I thought they were pumping all their ill gotten gains into start up businesses and jobs for the middle/lower classes not canoodling over at Art Basel in Miami Beach.
Let's face it, most multi-millionaires in the US inherited sizeable chunks of money from their parents and grandparents, they weren't self made men. Many of the women simply opened their legs as the ticket to fame and fortune.
What was the saying from Gecko in Wall Street? "most of America's wealth will be passed down to widows and b*stard children".
I think the Bush family fits that mold.
I say "off with their heads"!

10:08 All those things you mention, if they come to pass, will be the result of the failed conservative policies of the Reagan and Bush administrations, not the Obama presidency. If that's what you're calling socialism, I mean. Why not move to China and hire a few slaves to run your stinking concern. You don't want to pay taxes or have any regulation - go right ahead; your business utopia already exists and is waiting for you there.

11:00-

You are incredibly ignorant of how things work in the real world.

10:08 is correct...the rich will weather this storm, it is the poor who will suffer the coming liberal thugocracy.

As the rich forgo the yacht and jet, etc, all of the builders of of these products will suffer, the companies will fail and it will be poor Suzy the Secretary, Sam the Ship Builder, and Jason the Jet Mechanic that will be hit the hardest.

And it will be the fault of the Obama Administration and Democrat Congress for prolonging the current economic situation with proven failed liberal polices, just as Franklin Roosevelt prolonged the Great Depression.

Good luck with that, moron...

As we can all see from 11:32's obtuse rant, the conservatives will most likely go down with their sinking ship rather than accept teh blame for their failure and allow that social responsibility is a necessary part of good government. If you read between the lines of his propaganda, you can hear the same old failed Reaganomics blather that if we just agree to work in filthy conditions for slave wages and allow the rich to accumulate all the profits from our labor, enough will magically trickle down to sustain life in the poor and middle class, at least long enough to father the next generation of inferior serfs to do their bidding.

I personally would like to see 11:32 and the fat cats that pay him to bleat his lies do without their extra Hummer or their 3rd and 4th vacation homes. They probably can; they have been fattening themselves on us for 30 years without feeling the need to return much of anything in proportion to their gains. Hopefully this will change in the future; they can hide their money offshore, but there aren't many places where one can go to live and enjoy the exploitative labor policies of the US AND the benefits of a free society which we have here. The mix is not sustainable wherever the "ignornat masses" that make up the vast majority of human beings are allowed a say in their own future.

I think a few years of living in the repressive smog drenched slums of China would do those fat cats a world of good. They might quickly want to return to our nation with a new attitude towards the benefits of busniness and environmental regulation and invvestment in infrastructure and government agencies that promote freedom and equality. Perhaps they would appreciate the efforts of so-called liberals who oppose the false prosperity of the irresponible parasitic Reaganomics which merely creates an illusion of prosperity while consuming the resources of it's host.

Maybe, but if 11:32 is representative, I guess they're going to have to learn the hard way, as the rest of us have, and as we clearly demonstrated when we finally dumped their corrupt and inept conservative poster-boy from office in November and put our future in the hands of the Democrats; the only party which has at least a fighting chance to remake our great nation into a responsible and sustainable 21st century economy.

Fellow Republicans, haven't we had enough of phoney hero worship (Reagan) and blind obeyance to a political monarchy (the Bush Family)?

More to the point, does anybody really think that Jeb Bush cares one way or the other what that pathetic excuse for a governor Charlie has to say about a possible run for the Senate? My guess is NO. Charlie's opinion is really quite insignificant on just about anything he speaks about.

12:21
This is where you are your ilk get it all wrong. In a free country like America, you do not need to work for anyone. All you have to do is take the steps necessary and open your own business. I don't want to scare you away from this effort, but you will have to have a viable business plan, some start up cash and risk every dime you have.

Maybe then you will understand what it is like to have the government manage what you think is your business. Along with that, you will get to pay the taxes, insurance and all other government mandates.

Oh and by the way, you will have to actually try to turn a profit.

My guess is that your tune would change a bit.

Good luck with that, or not!

I would vote for Jeb for Senator if he would bring some of these foreign, non-union auto manufacturers to Florida.

Why are the Carolina's and Georgia kicking out butt here?

The Republican wall of lies, and their fantasy planet view of reality, have brought us to the brink of disaster. Their idea of "Freedom" is the liberty to screw everyone else as they line their pockets with unearned wealth.
Even now, they want to abandon the 10 million workers of the auto industry, who can actually provide the "vehicle" for stimulus, while replacing all the money the bankers squandered. The money to the bankers is being converted into anything other than the dollar, as they get ready to abandon ship.

Sadly, everybody else is going to have to suffer terribly before these smug and delusional Republicans get their comeuppance.

Of course, the smartest Republicans, the Rockefellers, the Mellons and the rest, know what they are doing. Riding the neo-con myth, they have succeeding in robbing America blind.
The question now is whether we have been so weakened and jaded (That means you, all you Republicans who buy into the Bill Kristol - Fox News lie) that we cannot return to Truth, Justice and Wisdom.

12:58

They put a lot more in economic development tax breaks & assistance on the table.

They also have infrastructure more conducive (Ports of Savannah, Charleston, Mobile - extensive freight rail netowrks) and by geogrpahy closer to distributing to the U.S. market...Florida is sort of the hemhorroid hanging off the end.

Hey Hank, GM, Ford and Crysler are businesses. They designed and built their company as they saw fit.

Their product is not competitive due to several factors that they have control over:

1) Cost of Sales (Mostly Labor)
2) Product Design, including stlye and function and running cost.

Why should they be treated any differently than the Quick Mart that con't compete?

How do you explain other auto manufacturers in this country that are profitable?

Please, enlighten us.

1:06 dagnamit!

Hank, don't worry about Detroit.

Barney Frank is on the job!

1:15 hahahaha

I hate to think what will come standard in cars that Barney Frank designs....

12:55 Good luck to you. I fully support the capitalist system and wish every success to responsible businesses. It's only "your ilk" that try to miscast Democrats as being socialists or anti-business; a major plank in the up until recently succesful conservative political strategy.

Funny thing is, every time you confront a neo-con like you on corporate greed and exploitation and the excesses of the filthy rich, they always revert to the same blather as you have, and try to paint a picture of a small self-made entreprenuer threatened with failure due to government regulation and high labor costs.

Now the answer to all your fallacies, as you probably well know, lies in the the concept of externalities. Every cost that should be the responsibility of your business (in a truly free market) that you can possible get the government (read - everyone else) to shoulder for you, means more profit on your bottom line. "Liberal" economics means accepting reponsibility for these externailities and incorporating them into your business plan. You know, like mitigation for the pollution you cause, paying taxes for the infrastructure that supports you, or the regulation that ensures that you and your competitors are not acting fruadulently, or that mandates that you pay a fair price for the depletion of resources of the common people (water, air, timber, oil, minerals, parkland and wetland, etc.) that you consume in making your business profitable. If you are not willing to shoulder those responsibilities, or if they don't equal up to a profitable concern, then don't bother to beg for a government handout that places the burden of your profitability on the backs of the taxpayers, and makes you into, not a viable concern in a free, sustainable economy, but rather a parasite fattening yourself on the limited resources of your fellow citizens.

Good luck getting that concept into your head, or not. If you do, let me know, and I will gladly buy your product or service because I can do so without feeling like I've sold out on my sense of social responsibility in doing so.

1:40 I understand your point and it has some valid arguments. So let us debate:

My business doesn’t polute or use natural resources. We sell a product manufactured elsewhere. That manufacturer pays for the use of "natural resources' and passes the cost on to me. Should I pay a second time?

The exception being the electricity we use to run the lights, AC etc. I may be wrong, but the money I pay to the electric company has this incorporated into it. Should I pay a second time?

My business does utilize the roads to sell our product. However, when I register my vehicles and buy gas, fees and taxes are collected to cover these costs. Should I pay a second time?

Regarding water; give me a break. We are drinking the same water the dinosaurs drank. For that matter, trees are a renewable resource. PFM isn't it?

The disconnect between me and others like you is I see taxation as a method of collecting money to run the government. And yes, part of their job includes the regulation of which you speak.

You on the other hand look at taxation as a tool for social engineering and at worst, punishment.

Since you seem to be an educated person, please tell me how much you would be willing to pay for a cup of coffee or doughnut? If the liberals (socialists) get their way, the only way to turn a profit will be to raise the price substantially. How does $20 sound?

One last question: Do you own a business?

Funny how neo-libs decry

"corporate greed"

and then turn around and complain about 500k jobs lost etc.

Come on now, stay true to your beliefs. Corporations are all about personal profit and the exploitation of the poor. The fact they are shedding jobs is a sign of weakness. In many cases, it is that they are closing their door for good.

You should all be happy that the rich are taking it on chin.

Florida luvs Jeb!

Gov Crist knows what is smart. He knows which way the wind is blowing and will endorsed a Jeb run or he will get slaughtered by Republican voters.
