Schale pushing Gelber for Senate
State Sen. Dan Gelber may not have the knack for raising big money as do fellow U.S. Senate prospects Allen Boyd or Ron Klein, or the geographic base and statewide network of Alex Sink. But Gelber has Steve Schale, Florida's hottest Democratic consultant. From Schale's Facebook page:
"Dan's life values and his experience working across the aisle to get things done will suit him well in Washington and serve the state well. He understands the political and ideological nuances of Florida and was the most successful house caucus leader in terms of election wins that our party has ever seen, proving he knows how to win elections. But moreover, if the race is one against Jeb Bush (a man that once said that Dan would make a good Governor), Dan is uniquely capable to carry the torch. A skilled prosecutor and uncannily prepared on the issues, there is no one better prepared to go toe to toe with Jeb Bush, who has proven in previous elections to be one of the best, if not the best political debater in the nation."
Btw, anyone else noticing the growing number of Facebook groups for Florida pols and/or their admirers? We see Jeb Bush for Senate, Draft Dave Aronberg, Draft Alex Sink for governor, Marco Rubio for Senate. What else is out there?

Cathy Castor has one.

What is Schale doing these days?
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 03:12 PM
3:12 - He's looking for a job. Can't you tell.
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 03:19 PM
I don't think he is going to have a problem getting a job. He is just very loyal to Gelber.

Draft Jim Davis

Dan Gelber should be everyone's first choice in terms of his incisive ability to communicate the case for the Democratic Party. He's the most inspirational person on that list.
Is an Allen Boyd really going to rally the students, volunteer and small donor base that a Democrat needs to win a Florida race?
No. He's a nice guy, but he's nobody to write home about. And I can already see the ads attacking him for supporting Bush's plan to privatize social security. How do you think that will play to seniors these days?
Of course, Ron Klein would be good too but I think he'd have to give up his House seat so I doubt he'll run.

You can vote for who you think would be the best Florida Democratic party nominee for the U.S. Senate seat at www.ProgressFlorida.org

Here's one:
Defeat Janee Murphy for DNC
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 08:14 PM
If Schale is supporting Dan, I'm one Dem. that will be voting for anyone else.
Posted by: TRUE BLUE | December 16, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Jeb Bush would beat Gelber like a drum.
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 09:40 PM
I'm a Republican but I like Gelber. Wouldn't vote for him, but he's a good guy and would be a good candidate for the dems. However if Jeb runs he would just be building his name ID for something else. And Steve is a solid guy and anyone who has gone up against him in campaigns respects him unles they're just a sore loser.
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 09:46 PM
if alex chooses not to run, gelber may very well be the next best. None of the others have any real name id, and among the four (meek, gelber, klein and Boyd), gelber has the most compelling story.
As for true blue, I assume that means he was no on obama, which in itself is contrary to the posters name.

814- that is a cause every democrat can support.
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Steve just wants another credit but he hasn't been effective in helping Gelber in the past.
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 10:45 PM
I remember when Allen Boyd ran Statewide against Jeb Bush...his name was Bill McBride.
Posted by: | December 16, 2008 at 11:40 PM
10:06 - tell it to your state committee man and woman. Lobby, lobby, lobby. Saturday's the election. It's time to take out some of those ineffective DNC members. Murphy and Ausman would be a good start.

Jeb Bush will have a cakewalk to the U.S. Senate should he choose. The only thing to stop him would be either Lawton Chiles (rest his soul) miraculously showing up on the political scene, or if there's a Democrat out there who can aggressively and effectively hang the state's bleeding budget on Jeb and gang's tax cut and spend policies of the late 90s and early 00s.
Knowing option 1 isn't happening, then I think you need to look for someone like Rod Smith or Scott Maddox who aren't afraid to go toe-to-toe with Jeb while getting some rehabilitation to erase their 2006 performances.
Think Charlie Crist running against Bob Graham.

DAN GELBER & STEVE GELLER ARE THE TWO FATCATS THAT KEPT TRYING TO DENY FLORIDIANS PROPERTY TAX RELIEF, SO THEY COULD CONTINUE SPENDING LIKE DRUNKEN SAILORS ON SHORE LEAVE.
THEY WON'T STAND A CHANCE.

Please, anyone but Jeb Bush. He would be a rubber stamp
Senator for the Republicans.
The only satisfaction that we will have is that he will be in the minority and will be somewhat controlled.
He was instrumental in ruining Florida's economy and is a member of the " big business Bush clan" and as the rest of the clan he is totally insensitive to the needs of main street USA.
Let's hope and pray that either party will find a someone
that puts the average person ahead of the wealthy big business community.
I'm beginning to think that this kind of person no longer exists in politics.

Steve may have been loyal to Gelber but Gelber can see right through opportunistic ways.
Posted by: | December 17, 2008 at 08:57 AM
Paul, if you think Jeb will be a rubber stamp for anyone, you must have been napping from 1998 to 2006.
Posted by: | December 17, 2008 at 09:15 AM
I think the Dems would be wrong to not take time to consider two dynamic House members.. before giving the Gov or Sen nomination to those mentioned above. Please consider Bob Wexlar and Debbie Wasserman Schultz who both got lots of national exposure during the Obama campaign.

Subject: Mark Cross for Florida GOP Chair
What a year this has been!
And what achievements we have had. This Revolution is permanent. It didn't end at the Republican convention. It didn't end on November 5. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity.
An important next step toward fighting for our ideas within the Republican Party is the establishment of principled party leadership. In Florida there will be an election for a new state chairman on January 10, 2009. Only the State Committee will vote and only members of the State Committee can run. The elected State Committeeman from Osceola County is Mark Cross.
Mark Cross served as my Florida Coordinator for the Presidential campaign and was at my side for every debate and event scheduled in the Sunshine State. Mark helped establish an informal network of support across the state and I know that he has the integrity, leadership, and resources that would ensure a successful term as Chairman.
If the Republican Party is going to once again flourish, it is imperative that we restore honesty, integrity, and commitment to Liberty in our party. We need principled leadership, and I believe Mark Cross is the candidate to provide that leadership.
That is why I am endorsing Mark Cross for Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. Please join with me in helping Mark become the next Florida Republican Party Chairman by giving a generous donation to his campaign. I have personally made a donation and urge you to do the same. We need principled party leadership in Florida and Mark will make that happen. Thank you.
In liberty,
Ron Paul
