Sick as a dog, Lopez-Cantera saves Rivera
He felt like crud.
But Rep. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, R-Miami, answered the phone Wednesday night. Get down here. Now. We need you.
Lopez-Cantera, reeling from a bout of stomach flu, dragged himself out of bed and headed to the Miami-Dade Republican Party meeting, already in progress. He cast a vote for David Rivera for party chair. When it was over, Rivera beat out rival Carlos Curbelo 61-60.
"They were both qualified," a still-ailing CLC told the Buzz Thursday afternoon. "But I think David has many more years of experience. He's just paid his dues a little more."

Awww....his tummy hurt...

That is the definition of gangsta!

Hope the flu didn't kill any brain cells....
That tank wasn't too full to begin with.

How about Zapata? Has anyone written about his blank ballot? The result was Rivera 61 / Curbelo 60 / Blank 1
Zapata has no backbone - what an embarrasment to the Party and his peers!

Wonder what this election means for Greer'sd chances to stay in control of RPOF so he can puch Charlie...

I hope he french kissed every single member there. If they all come down with the "stomach virus," we'll know what happened.

The big story here is what a joke the MDREC has become.
121 voters? Out of the several MILLION that live in the county? Pathetic.
Lew Oliver won the other day with over 200. His opponent had over 200 as well.

Did Rivera get all of his Log Cabin Republican friends to "come out" for him?

What were Carlos Curbelo, Xavier Suarez, and JC Planas so secretly talking about before the meeting the other night?
Posted by: observer | December 12, 2008 at 12:22 AM
They were wondering why Rivera was wearing knee pads and a silly Mr. Bean grin.

It's getting harder to laugh at the antics of brainless conservatives these days. It used to be funny, but now they've ruined our nation's economy, killed thousands overseas, spent our kids into debt with corporate welfare, destroyed our enviroment, trashed our education system...

Lopez-Cantera a.k.a AC/DC was able to bring the Gay vote in for Rivera and put him on top.

Big Losers: Carlos Curbelo, Lincoln and Mario Diaz Balart, Charlie Crist, Jim Greer, Alex Villalobos, Rudy Garcia, Marcelo Llorente, JC Planas, Julio Robaina, Carlos Alvarez, Xavier "The Lunatic" Suarez, and David Custin.

The TRUE loser in this election was ALEX VILLALOBOS - the guy that lacked the morality to stand up to the Evil Empire once and for all. Thanks for giving Miami-Dade Republicans two more years of David and Marco, Alex! You're really something else... A democrat, perhaps... And Custin too!

Did anyone see Mario and Lincoln vote? Why didn't they show up for the election? Let see, Mario + Lincoln = 2 votes. Now we Know why Curbelo lost!
Posted by: | December 12, 2008 at 04:18 PM
Curbelo lost because Lopez Cantera delivered the gay vote for Rivera. Rivera promised not to oppose a repeal to the gay marriage amendment.
Posted by: | December 12, 2008 at 04:46 PM
Lincoln and Mario don't have votes in the REC. Curbelo also lost because of the letter a New Jersey republican activist sent to all the members exposing curbelo as a contributor to NJ Democrat congressman Albio Sirez.

Go David! Go Marco! Marco: do you think now you can come back to Tallahassee and fix our broken party, please? No more self-promoters as chairman. No more infomercials running in our hotel rooms showing what a "great guy" Greer is. Marco: we need you NOW.
