Amid gloom and doom, GOP parties
An e-mail went out today announcing a reception honoring RPOF Chairman Jim Greer at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando this coming Friday. The break will be a nice respite for lawmakers who have been hearing gloom-and-doom stories all week long about the impact of their cutting the state budget.
The host committee includes Gov. Charlie Crist, Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, Sen. Jeff Atwater, House Speaker Ray Sansom and several lawmakers.
See the e-mail and full list on the jump.

BRILLIANT!

will they all fly in on corporate jets and stay in $2,000 a night suites on the taxpayer dime?
Posted by: terminator | January 06, 2009 at 01:53 PM
Poor GOPers. Their responsibility for our economic crisis must be a terrible burden for them.
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 01:58 PM
Geez. This is news. The Chairman is having a party in his own honor.Surprise, surprise. He will probably eat too much, drink too much, say something stupid and do a rotten version of Elvis.
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:00 PM
Nahhhh, Termie, they used up all the private planes and first-class seats getting themselves and staff to the special session. And they still have regular session coming with even more chances to travel in style.
If they ever put some "sacrifice" on themselves (like flying coach or carpooling) people might have a little sympathy for the crying about budgets.

This guy has a brass pair as big as bowling balls. Amid all of the scandal he has created he insists on throwing another Party. Is this one paid for by the RPOF too ? This wind bag has to go. He is dangerous for the party.
Posted by: PO'd RPOFer | January 06, 2009 at 02:04 PM
And, you know what, PO'd RPOFer? He is still going to get reelected. There is noone who will pose a credible challenge to him. Nobody has any balls anymore.
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:06 PM
termie told you guys what was going to happen when you elected empty chair Charlie!
don't say I didn't warn you.
FloriDUH is going to hell in a handbasket!
Posted by: terminator | January 06, 2009 at 02:18 PM
Doesn't someone have to be credible to begin with... before someone can "pose a credible challenge" to them?
Jim Queer's a bloated pinhead!
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:20 PM
What exactly has Greer done to earn such honor?
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:25 PM
Has Greer provided copies of the credit card statements outlining detail of charges as required by law on filings subsequent to the report the charges were first reported?
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:26 PM
Don't forget the half million donated to the RPOF by Developer Jay Odom as payment for the 6 million dollar airplane hanger for his corporate jets. Half a million can pay for a lot of parties for the Party.
Posted by: Disgusted R | January 06, 2009 at 02:27 PM
Okay... if that is the actual email... Greer sent it himself...
TACKY!
Don't they have a generic email they can send stuff from?
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:39 PM
Nice misleading title...this is not a party...it is business...electing a Chairman is important business for a political party....we were in a recession a few weeks ago when the D's got together to select their Chairman...where was the "Party" headline then?
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:42 PM
isn't Greer's email the same as everyone else's
jgreer@rpok.org?
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:43 PM
Most of the folks on the host committee could probably care less about Greer...they are just trying to show party unity...the shame of this is just like the Sansom issues...people not recognizing the significance and impact of their actions, and the symbolic nature that those actions have long beyond...these Greers and Sansoms are not leaders or statesmen, just businessmen who found new ways to get more toys and make more "new friends"

apparently i really missed out on the charter flights etc. as a former aide. I remember eating takeout and sleeping on a sofa in an apartment with 6 other people.
But, i guess misery loves company so go ahead and drag everybody down with your complaining.
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 02:55 PM
When your national party has been reduced to a regional challenger, I guess you have to do something to relieve the pain. Sounds like they're fiddling while Rome burns.
Shame on them, and shame on us for putting up with them.
Posted by: Pearl | January 06, 2009 at 02:57 PM
2:55 - as a former aide, I remember the Lear Jets going home... at least a bottle of liquor each night I went out... unlimited food... luxury apartments fully furnished...
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 03:02 PM
Looks like Greer has enough people on his "host committee" to win several times over.
I guess the vocal are in fact a minority. We'll see come election time
Does anyone know when that is?
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 03:04 PM
Greer is a pig!
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 03:06 PM
I would not trust that HOST committee list at all. There are people on there that are just covering their political butts. Greer is in trouble. He is sweating like a fat man in a sauna. And the fat lady will sing on saturday. No More Greer
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 03:27 PM
No wonder the RPOF is in the red. It must cost a fortune to transport Greer, Delmar, and Fat Mikey from Point A to Point B. Not to mention the grazing that takes place in between!
Posted by: | January 06, 2009 at 03:37 PM
How can you Demoncraps say anything about Fat Cats and Spending?
The One, The Only, HIM, spent more money buying the election then most 3rd World countries spend per year.
Add to that the orgy that is coming in two weeks.
You are just a bunch of hypocrites!

I hear Green Peace is predicting a HUGE hole in the ozone over Washington DC about the time of Obama's inauguration. Obama will need to close coal plants after that blow-out.
Posted by: | January 07, 2009 at 01:13 AM
None of this is at taxpayers at expense. What about the lavish inaugural Obama is throwing is that not a slap in the face of those struggling? No neither are. they are Political events paid for with 100% private resources not one state or federal dime.

1:18 Ditto!
Guest looking forward to attending another good party with great people and you others that complain, get off the blogs and get a job so you can host and pay for your own party.

Whats the question?
Oh! I know. Who would a RPOF member vote for if that RPOF member had a IQ of 50 or less.
Greer 75-85% NO MAAS-NO MAAS!
RPOF Member THAT VOTES SAT.

If this is the type of drivel I have to put up with in my future, then my double major of PoliSci/Public Admin and Policy is being changed.
My 12 year old whose taking 11th grade Quantum Design could do better than this.
Quick, without going to google: wht is Quantum Design?
My son for President in.......
