Sansom meeting tried to define hangar

A year and a half after slipping $6-million into the state budget for an emergency facility at his hometown airport, House Speaker Ray Sansom led a hastily arranged meeting with local officials to explain how they might use it.

The meeting, held Dec. 10, came four days after the St. Petersburg Times/Miami Herald Tallahassee bureau reported that the airport building was originally proposed by a friend of Sansom's, Jay Odom, a developer who wanted to park his jets in a taxpayer-funded hangar.

Officials deny the meeting was damage control. "It was to lay the groundwork of how the building was going to be used," said Tuffy Dixon, chief of the Destin Fire Control District.

But some critics, who say there is no burning need for an emergency operations center at the airport, question the events. "It's CYA time," said former Destin Mayor Ken Beaird. "They got caught and now they're trying to justify … an aircraft hangar." (story here)

I wonder if they bothered to notice that meeting... I hear they got real good about skirting around the sunshine laws.

Crime thy name is Sansom.

Like the Pensacola News Journal editorial said today, he still doesn’t get it. Sansom still can’t see what is as plain as the nose on his face. That it is wrong to use his elected office to get taxpayer’s dollars for his friends and for those friends in return to give him a high paying make-believe job. Does he really think that we the public are now going to believe that he will not find some other way for Bob Richburg to pay him off for the $25 million of taxpayer money he gave to him? Next we’ll hear that his wife has gone to work for OCC making $200,000 a year!

Sansom's destroyed any chance he ever had of running for higher office.
This guy's toast. You can stick a fork in him!

He needs to RESIGN and do it NOW!!!!!

Of course he won't - he is too busy trying to slash education and necessary services while protecting the cigarette industry from higher taxes and keeping the fatcats happy!

If the Republicans didn't condone his actions and if he was not one of Charlie's boys, he would have given up his position and speaker of the house and kept his phony teaching position.

I guess he can make more money being speaker.

Next question Charlie?

Jail for Sansom. This thing is going to bite Crist in the butt, he should be outraged at this level of public corruption

I'll bet what's left of my savings that Gaetz is tied up in this too. Sansom and him have been joined at the hip for years.

Remember, there just MAY be a connection between the half million dollars of slush and campaign funds provided by Developer Jay Odom to Sansom and the RPOF to dole out as they see fit and the silence of the lambs (Republicans). The Democratic Party has already spoken and told him to resign (and suggested a criminal investigation).

Wow, this paper really has it out for our Speaker. Will you go through EVERY dollar spent in EVERY district?

Why the hush hush with Sands? Oh, thats right. He is a Democrat therefore can do no wrong.

Do we think that if Sansom was a Democrat our Governor would be so quiet about this mess?

All Hell would be breaking loose in Tallahassee and Charlie would finally get back in the headlines.

Hey Charlie, where are you standing on this matter?
"Next question"

Now let's hear some more about the Hillary Billary Shennanigans.

“It was to lay the groundwork of how the building was going to be used”

Ummmm… usually this is done BEFORE you get the money.

Spend it, and they will come!

If funneling six million dollars to build a jet hangar for a crony who has given you a half million dollars in political donations (and who knows how much in actual secret cash handouts) isn't public corruption I don't know what is. Sansom should possibly be in jail and undoubtedly not be Speaker of the Florida House. SANSOM HAS TO GO! House leadership and the future speakers have been cowards so far, but there is still time to do the right thing.

Do we think that if Sansom was a Democrat our Governor would be so quiet about this mess?

No, our Governor would be praising him like he does Wexler!

The whole damn lot of them need to go.

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

Patrick Henry

Democrat.

Def:
Hangar (n.) A nasty embarassing little piece of dried snot that just won't go away no matter how may times you try to get rid of it.

8:17 your boy messed up just admit it instead of tring to act like it was all because he is a R.this kind of thing is what we need to bring out in the open no matter what party you claim! so keep airing out this dirty laundry an maybe when can better this country!!!
