Crist keeps Martinez on Board of Ed

Roberto Martinez Roberto Martinez, the Coral Gables super lawyer and longtime adviser to Republican governors, was reappointed to a second term on the Florida Board of Education today by Gov. Charlie Crist. Martinez, 55, was first appointed to the post by Gov. Jeb Bush. He will serve through Dec. 31, 2012. His appointment requires Senate confirmation.

Martinez chaired Crist's transition to his attorney general position, and he was a member of Bush and Crist's transition teams after each was elected governor. Martinez was also appointed by Crist to serve on the now-dismantled Taxation and Budget Reform Commission.

Martinez is a partner in the Miami law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson. He is a former United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. He received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and has a master's degree in accounting from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

Was he one of the members who did such an awful job that several amendments were struck off the ballot?

does anyone know what these guys actually do?
since their creation by former Gov. Jeb Bush their impact on public education in Florida has been minimal to non-existant.
Yet the state spends millions each year allowing this group of nitwits to meet monthly for no purpose since the local school boards do as they please.
If this group were abolished today Floridians wouldn't even know they were gone (or ever there for that matter).

It's the same board that includes the football player and car salesman, Peter Boulware. Wonder how much they earn from this?

"... the Coral Gables super lawyer and longtime adviser to Republican governors, was reappointed to a second term on the Florida Board of Education today..."

Classic!

No wonder Floriduuh is:

"Last in Education; First in Corruption!"

... go figure
