Penny tax/class size idea 'in the oven'
Wondering what has become of that idea last week for a combined constitutional amendment on the penny tax for education and the move to loosen class-size standards?
Sen. Stephen Wise, R-Jacksonville, says they're working on it, but have to get past these budget discussions.
"It's still in the oven," said Wise, chair of the Senate preK-12 appropriations committee. "We just gotta make sure that we cook it all the way."
Despite a cool reaction to the idea from House Republican leaders, Wise said, "It's somehing that we're still considering and the president of the Senate is considering, and when we get a go ahead, we'll go ahead."
Andy Ford, president of the Florida Education Association, said they're still look at the idea, too: "We have polled the issue and we'll talk about that next week."

If the union hacks like the plan, it must be a terrible idea.

The doom and gloom environment our “self-proclaimed” leaders have fostered is irresponsible, and brings into question the character of each elected official and the efficacy of the body as a whole.
The current budget shortfall caused by Amendment 1, declining housing values, high level of political arrogance, and poor government prudence and leadership – equates to a small percentage of the state's 08 budget. A budget that increased near 75% in 4-years, mind you.
The current practice of “political fear mongering” – assisted by an irresponsible and culpable media structure – is nothing short of a political and strategic method designed to teach taxpayers a lesson for expecting some real leadership that focuses on meeting the needs of our State by applying a responsible level of ethical and fiscal restraint.
The same exists at our local levels as well.
But what do I know; “Mongo only pawn in game of life.”

Peole are fed up with this far right no-tax for any reason crap.People are also fed up with the lobbyist running this state. The only thing the republicans are doing is rubber stamping the national agenda, not listening to Floridians at all unless its in line with the national GOP agenda.Well people are fed up,here is a cool little article about moderates trying to take control back from the fringe extremist in Virginia.

Doom and gloom with a boat load of conspiracy theories. The far right fans must be short minded because it was only months ago limbaugh and his crowd dismissed any negative comment about his hero "dubya" as a conspiracy.
Look who is wearing the foil hats!!!
Limbaugh talks about socializing banks,
well what is the FDIC and how long has that been in existence?
Hahahaha lookie at the funny foil hat wearing limbots,,,ditto indeed!

I voted for the class size amendment and it was not to be taxed more to fulfill it.
Take the illegal alien children out of the schools and send them back to mexico, ireland, wherever. Then get back in the business of educating American children not dumbing them down more than their parents just so they will be useful idiots for corporate fascists and union socialists.
We need to ensure freedom for the next generation. Additional taxation is not the way to do it. Cut out all the unnecessary administration and physical plant if more money is needed to satisfy class size amendment.
The rest of us can no longer afford all of you lobbyist and union hacks.

Doesn't it take a 2/3's vote of the people for new taxes to pass via the ballot?
