NRSC chair endorses Crist

So much for staying on the sidelines. U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, endorsed Charlie Crist for the Senate, minutes after the governor announced his candidacy. Not a good day for Marco Rubio.

“I am pleased today to endorse Gov. Charlie Crist for the United States Senate. With his record of reform in Florida, I know that Gov. Crist will bring a fresh perspective to Washington in our efforts to fight for lower taxes, less government and new job creation for all Americans. Charlie Crist is a tireless advocate on behalf of all Floridians and one of only three Governors who earned an ‘A’ from the CATO Institute for his efforts to restrain spending and cut taxes last year," Cornyn said.

“While I believe Marco Rubio has a very bright future within the Republican Party, Charlie Crist is the best candidate in 2010 to ensure that we maintain the checks and balances that Floridians deserve in the United States Senate. Gov. Crist is a dedicated public servant and a dynamic leader, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee will provide our full support to ensure that he is elected the next United States Senator from Florida.”

Now Marco Rubio is going to run the "Washington Doesn't Get It!" campaign.

I actually think this move can only embolden him. The only question is can he raise the cash.

You know Club for Growth is going to POUR in the cash if he stays in this race.

Just the other day, Cornyn said that the NRSC was going to stay out of the primary.

The NRSC wants to win. Charlie's the one who will win. End of story. The voters have changed too much for Rubio.

I could understand if this endorsement came 6 months from now, but the day of the announcement....and the party wonders why people are leaving.

When a small group in Washington are the only ones to decide who runs, the GOP will never come back to power.

Ironic: When you go to the NRSC's website www.nrsc.org, the first thing that pops up is an ad asking for a donation to "Stand up to Former Republican Arlen Specter". Now they are endorsing Charlie Crist.

Before he decided to change parties Cornyn was going to support Specter. Now he jumps in and supports Crist.

Write Cornyn and just ask him to look in the mirror and then ask himself why are donations down?

Just say no to the NRSC donation requests until they get someone to listen to the people.

john cornyn just crapped in his own pants....gov crist is just another RINO. john evidently has earwax in his ear because we conservatives have already told him we will not contribute to the party. we will only contribute to verifiable conservatives...grandmother from texas

We need much more property tax cuts.
It has definitely not "dropped like a rock".
