Poll: McCollum leading Sink; Crist crushing Rubio and Meek
A May 14-18 Mason-Dixon poll for Ron Sachs Communications (moe +/- 4 percentage points overall and 6 percentage points in primary) show Republican Attorney General Bill McCollum leading Democrat Alex Sink for governor 40 percent to 34 percent. Charlie Crist leads Marco Rubio in the Republican U.S. Senate primary 53 percent to 18 percent. From the release:
- Neither of the Democrats running for U.S. Senate could best Crist if the election were held today, even if they won all the undecided votes.
- Former Gov. Bush has much stronger favorable name recognition among Republicans than Crist (81%-50%).
- Less than one-third of Floridians favorably recognize Bill McCollum, despite his 23 years of public service.
- Crist beats Meek (55%-24%) and Gelber (57%-22%) in a general election.
- McCollum easily defeats Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson in a Republican primary for the Governor's seat (39%-12%) but nearly half of Republican voters (49%) are undecided given those choices.
- If former Gov. Bush were added to the mix, he would win with 64% of the vote in a Republican primary.
- None of Florida's big city mayors whose names were tested (Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer) had favorable name recognition of more than 16%.
More interesting tidbits: Crist leads Meek for Senate 55 percent to 24 percent, and independents back Crist over Meek 49 percent to 19 percent; 81 percent of Republicans recognize Jeb Bush favorably while only 50 percent recognize Crist favorably; McCollum and Sink virtually tied among women, and McCollum has a 10-point advantage among independents.

81 percent of Republicans recognize Jeb Bush favorably while only 50 percent recognize Crist favorably;
Guess this means Charlie will be running as a "Jeb Bush Republican" again???

I would love to see the actual results and know how the questions were worded.

If Charlie's approval ratings are in the upper 60s, why does he only get 53% in this poll?

I see Sachs promotes himself as well as he does his clients.

Only 53% for Crist?
So long Charlie - hello Senator Rubio.

MacKay
McBride

Sink

This is a really strong showing for Rubio. There are months and months until election day, for Crist to have all the kings men and all of the kings horses and only to be up by this margin shows big time weakness.

“Sink is the great-granddaughter of “the twins,” as she calls them. She grew up in the house Chang and Eng built, and speaks of them both with unmistakable pride and with a little trepidation.
She speaks of their commitment to education, intellectualism and the business savvy for a couple of P.T. Barnum circus attractions to decide to cut out the middleman to make enough money to become farmers.
Then she acknowledges the trepidation.
Strangers would come to see her house growing up. On the streets of Mount Airy, people would sometimes stop and ask the little girl with the hint of oriental features, “Are you one of the Bunkers?”"

So 49% off voters in the Republican primary think neither current candidates are qualified. Paula Dockery could beat them both. There's a real Republican.

Determined to start living a normal life as much as possible, the brothers settled on a plantation, bought slaves, and adopted the name "Bunker". On April 13, 1843, they married two sisters: Chang to Adelaide Yates and Eng to Sarah Anne Yates. Chang and his wife had 10 children; Eng and his wife had 11. In time, the wives squabbled[citation needed] and eventually two separate households were set up just west of Mount Airy, North Carolina in the community of White Plains - the twins would alternate spending three days at each home. During the American Civil War Chang's son Christopher and Eng's son Stephen both fought for the Confederacy. The twins died on the same day in 1874. Chang, who had contracted pneumonia, died rather suddenly in his sleep. Eng awoke to find his brother dead, he called for his wife and children to attend to him, who reportedly sent for a doctor to perform an emergency separation, but Eng refused to be separated from his dead brother. He died three hours later.

Billy McCollum reminds me of the brother-in-law who comes to the family gathering Super Bowl Sunday and wants to watch "This Old House" on the TV instead of the game.
Energetic, exciting Republican party candidate? I can't imagine McCollum at any party!

HOLD ON!
We have many months to go. Rubio is coming on FAST. Greer is putting a cloud on Governor Crist and we have not seen all the Republican candidates for Governor yet.
The GOP will rise again with the right person in the general after months of thoughtful and historic debate on the most important American dialog of our lives!

This poll does not bode well for Chuckles the Clown. The fact that he only has a 50% positive name ID among Republicans demonstrate that half of Replublicans dislike him. Wait until the half that "like" him start hearing the ads of his liberal record and the Limbaughs and Hannitys start attacking Crist by name and embracing Rubio as the anti-RINO candidate... Or worse: what if Jeb endorses Rubio?
Chuckles, you're going down, you disgraceful, poor excuse of a little man. That fat miscreant who goes by the name Jim Greer won't be able to help you, either.
In fact, Greer's so monumentally dumb, that he's given Rubio a week of positive press. Keep it up, fat boy! You're the gift that keeps on giving!

My early predictions are all coming out as the early likely scenarios:
*Charlie Crist wins over Kendrick Meek as U.S. Senator
*Bill McCollum wins over Alex Sink as governor
*Adam Putnam wins Agriculture Commissioner

Sample ballots are hypothetical snapshots of what the electorate would do if the election were held today. The election wont be held for a year and half. These polls are meaningless and Chuckles knows it. That is why he put his hatchet man Greer on the job to Rule 11 Rubio out of the race.
These polls are fixations of the news media becuase they make for easy-to-write stories as opposed to going out and actually finding something worth writing about.
And consider this: if high name ID were the be-all end-all Katherine Harris would be a U.S. Senator today. Her name ID was about 90%.
Stick with it Rubio. It's a long way to November 2010.

Watch for any extremist not liking the results of any poll number to dismiss that poll, let a Rasmussen poll come up and they are shouting about that one.
Hey,quick fact, number one buyer of polls, fox news.Of course they don't show them all,or even most, only the ones showing a negative about democrat's and positives about republicans.

who cares about polls except for Charlie Crist? that's what he uses to govern. funny thing is, given the small percentage of people that are ever polled, it is NOT a representative sample. the people polled are probably the same corrupt people that are shoving the useless governor down our throats. butt the H#LL out of it and let the people truly decide. I'd bet you'd find that a primary that isn't influenced by anyone will finally be charlie's downfall. he can't run and hide forever and his downfall is coming.

Republicans should be voted out across the board for the huge disaster they've created in both Florida and the nation. If these poll numbers are accurate then Florida needs to field some more powerful DEM candidates so we can rid ourselves of these self-serving Republican failures. I don't care how the Republicans fare against one another - we need to get rid of anyone foolish enough to put an "R" next to their name.

Here is a snip from the AP;
""When I began inspecting the electrical work performed by KBR, my co-workers and I found improper electrical work in every building we inspected," Childs said. An advanced copy of Childs' testimony before the Senate Democrats' policy committee Wednesday was obtained by The Associated Press."
Seems as though Cheneys no bid contracts to Halliburton and subsidiaries have cost more then just money, they have cost lives as well.
Why talk about this on this thread?
the need to keep Republicans out of the federal government.Has one single Republican law maker spoke out against Halliburton no bid contracts?NO and don't expect them to either.
Say no to more Republican extremists in our government,we can't take any more Republican ethic's!
Posted by: KBR=halliburton=Cheney | May 20, 2009 at 09:21 AM
Not true little buddy, your side uses polls and points to them as "proof".
Fox commission's the most polls but only show the polls friendly to their agenda.
I know you have heard all your extremists pundits say something negative about polls(I watch and listen to extremists media)The reason they are propagandizing about polls right now?
There are not a lot of people that have a positive view about far right republicans.Just a few months ago didn't you hear about how low the poll numbers were for the "do nothing" congress? Well then polls started showing poll numbers for Republicans and Democrats separately, shazaam,no more rush talking about the do nothing congress because it showed it was actually,do nothing "REPUBLICANS" in congress.
Try to minimize the damage from the polls all you want, the REST of us hear both sides of the story, not just the good about republican and bad about democrats like your extremists teach your fringe friends.
In this poll,Jeb has twice the negative s over Crist's negatives.Ya won't hear that on fox!!!
