Agriculture Commissioner Scott Maddox?
Haven't heard confirmation from the man himself, but there's lots of Buzz about former Tallahassee Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Scott Maddox looking at a run for the Democratic nomination for commissioner of agriculture and consumer services. Maddox has been making calls. Democrats already in the race include Eric Draper and Rick Minton.

I guess the Democrats are very forgiving.

i think its a great idea, he is a great democrat and we would be lucky to have in office again.

Eric Draper is going to be the nominee.

Scott you tried to run statewide already, you lost. Move on...

Scott-don't forget to pay your bills on time. This has to be a joke. Karen Thurman is still picking up this guy left of the Democratic Party.

Maddox would be a great agriculture & consumer services commissioner and provide strength to a solid democratic ticket.

Steve Fielding recently asked the Obama administration to reassure him on the science of man-made global warming. When the administration proved unhelpful, Mr. Fielding decided to vote against climate-change legislation.
If you haven't heard of this politician, it's because he's a member of the Australian Senate. As the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to pass a climate-change bill, the Australian Parliament is preparing to kill its own country's carbon-emissions scheme. Why? A growing number of Australian politicians, scientists and citizens once again doubt the science of human-caused global warming.

Steve Fielding
Among the many reasons President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority are so intent on quickly jamming a cap-and-trade system through Congress is because the global warming tide is again shifting. It turns out Al Gore and the United Nations (with an assist from the media), did a little too vociferous a job smearing anyone who disagreed with them as "deniers." The backlash has brought the scientific debate roaring back to life in Australia, Europe, Japan and even, if less reported, the U.S.

Run Scott Run! The people of Florida need you.

Edit: Scott-don't forget to pay your bills on time. This has to be a joke. Karen Thurman is still picking up the pieces this guy left of the Democratic Party.

This is great news. Maddox is the only one that can challenge Putnam and Baker in a statewide race. Thanks for stepping up Scott. We need to win that seat.

Scott, i hope you do run for it. You've got my vote!

Scott Maddox has the moral rectitude of a great man, and would bring honor and dignity to any position he runs for. The state would be honored to have such a great politician looking out for its best interests in the office of Agriculture

Scott Maddox did a lot of great things for the city of Tallahassee, and I look forward to him doing wonderful things throughout our state. He'd be an immeasureable asset to Florida's cabinet. Maddox is an honorable man and a great politician. He's what Florida needs.

All of this stuff about what happened with Scott in the past is not true. One employee made a mistake and Scott took the blame for it, but he actually had nothing to do with it. Sounds like republicans are going to have a solid race on their hands.

Scott would have my vote and he's very popular in South Florida and North Florida... Would be a very strong candidate and probably the Democrats only shot at winning the Ag. Commissioner race.
Hope he runs!

Lots of Dem bloggers on today. Maddox is an idiot. Please run, all of your indiscretions will be brought into full light.....

i hope he decides to run. i was in tally when he was mayor and if he can help run the state like he ran the city- we'll be in good shape

There is no chance this position goes to a Democrat. None. End of story.

Eric Draper is gonna be the victor in the primary and the general election.
Posted by: Paul D. Harvill | June 26, 2009 at 05:06 PM
from what i hear Draper is having tons of trouble raising any type of money...any dem is going to have to be able to raise money in this race to be considered legit
Posted by: bikefan | June 26, 2009 at 06:18 PM
Adam Putnam is clearly the most qualified candidate for Ag Commissioner.

I hope the Dem's nominate dear Scotty. He has so much baggage it will be fun to watch him go down. Bankrupted the Democratic party, gave contracts to his own consulting firm.
And we in Tallahassee know all about his little settlement involving the City of Tallahassee. He will be giving a press conference shortly to tell everyone about his hiking trip(s) to Appalachia. Go Scott Go!!!!
Florida's Clinton!!!!

I wonder if that picture of Maddox leading sheep around the Capitol on a leash a few years ago will be in his campaign mailers?
Can you dig that photo up, Adam?

"Scott Maddox has the moral rectitude of a great man, and would bring honor and dignity to any position he runs for." Are you kidding me?? He has no morals. The only reason no one has looked into his background is that he has never been a real threat as an opponent. Doubtful this will be any different. I just hope his affair doesn't come to light.

Go Scott Go!
Florida needs you!

If the dems want any chance of taking control of the cabinet they need strong, viable, electable candidates and the guys in this race now just won't cut it. Maddox on the other hand can deliver on all 3 of those characteristics and gives the dems a fighting chance.
Posted by: being realistic | June 29, 2009 at 01:37 PM
No comment on the morals. Went to high school with SM. Lets just say I'll be voting for one of the other 2.
Posted by: GMAB | June 29, 2009 at 07:58 PM
anybody but draper. that guy isn't qualified to water his lawn, much less run ag and consumer services.
Posted by: Fla_Farmer | July 07, 2009 at 12:13 PM
GMAB, you took the words right out of my mouth. Anyone but Scott.
