Is Crist 'governing' or fundraising out of state?

CristatlantafundraiserYesterday, Marco Rubio challenged Gov. Charlie Crist to at least 10 debates in their GOP primary for U.S. Senate. A spokesman said Crist would debate at the appropriate time but "in the meantime, he’s focused on governing."

But Crist has spent the past two days fundraising, including an event in D.C. yesterday and one this evening in Atlanta. As for governing, his official schedule has shown no public events, just a few phone calls with staff.

The Washington event drew John McCain (Ariz.), John Cornyn (Texas), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Richard Burr (N.C.), Olympia Snowe (Maine) and Florida's Mel Martinez. Crist's former chief of staff, lawyer George LeMieux, tagged along at the D.C. event Tuesday night and declined to estimate how big a financial haul Crist's campaign received. "They did well," he said.

The Atlanta event (click image to enlarge) shows as invited guests Georgia Aerospace Systems' Thomas Mensah; both Georgia U.S. senators, Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss; Gov. Sonny Perdue; and attorney Willie Gary.

More names here, including Florida Sen. Tony Hill. The Democratic lawmaker told the Buzz that he was not attending. Hill teamed up with Kendrick Meek (the Democratic candidate for Senate) in the famous sit-in at the Florida Capitol in January 2000 to protest Gov. Jeb Bush's changes to minority contracting policy.

Hill said he is friends with Mensah and that Mensah put his name on the fundraiser without his consent. "People do things without consulting you," Hill said. "Man, I'm a member of the DNC."

Crist's schedule shows in back in the capital tomorrow.

When has he ever governed? ... practiced as Attorney General? ...Secretary of Education???

And as a Senator, he gave us chain gangs. An expensive propositon which does not hing for prisoners, costs the taxpayers a lot more money than any they might same from convict labor and which was universally opossed by law enforcement.

But notice how he leapfrogged from each jom on to the next one.

Crist isn't "governing" when he IS in the state. Why people still support this fake is a mystery...

The fact that Willie Gary showed up, should tell you everything...

Gary is a sleazebag and shows that Crist is in bed with the scum-of-the-earth Trial Lawyers.

He is their friend, make no mistake...

Stanley -- Crist didn't even give the state chain gangs. He stole the idea after another Senator first proposed it. It just goes to show if you say something to the media long enough, they fall for it.

Social cliff notes here,

The Washington attendees of the Gov. Crist fundraiser...all the local left wingers were present and accounted for!

Senator McCain was certainly being gracious since Gov. Crist completely threw him under the bus in Florida.

Legalized extortion, legalized renting, and legalized bribery.

The fact that Willie Gary showed up, should tell you everything...

Gary is a sleazebag and shows that Crist is in bed with the scum-of-the-earth Trial Lawyers.

He is their friend, make no mistake...

The time when you may need a trial lawyer, you will change your tune quickly.

Most trial attorneys are ethical and zealous advocates for their clients.

I should know: I've worked with many trial attorneys over the decades.

gotta love "stuffed suit, empty chair" Chuck.
the guy has no shame and most Floriduhians are too stupid to remember come the next election.
it's guys like Chuck Crist that are ruining this country but moronic voters keep re-electing them because they're too lazy to be informed and know what really goes on.
What's Chuck doing tonight and where is Manuel the pool boy?

Charlie Crist is merely 'governing' his next campaign.

Chuckles is the quintessential politician, always in campaign mode, always running for something, never giving a straight answer in his life, and never committing to anything other than promoting his pathetic career.

This disgrace of a man--a term I use very lightly--has accomplished nothing during his many positions. He just views those positions as feathers in his caps and bullet points on his resume that somehow qualify him for the next office in his mind.

Chuckles has never governed nor championed any issue while he has held all those numerous offices. Why? Because he has always eyeballed the next office.

Chuckles is a disgrace and the last thing we need is to promote him to the next office. He is the most do-nothing, ineffective hack politician this state has ever seen, not to mention a lousy and phony Republican. Let's save some face and end his pathetic career in 2010.

...Forgot to sign my name

Hopefully Floridians will wake up and kick this fake to the curb...where he belongs !

I remember when all you Crist haters supported him enthusiastically for governor over Jim Davis. You reap what you sow.

Chuck hasn’t governed 20-minutes since he got the job! He’s spent the first ½ of his first term photo-opping, jet-setting, tanning, hair dying, pimping for McCain, and lining up a pretend wife… ON OUR DIME! He’ll now spend the rest of his first term campaigning… ON OUR DIME, for a promotion he does not deserve while our state sinks ever deeper into the abyss.

This man (?) is a fraudulent, unaccomplished, self-serving, closet gay empty suit. And if he wins this undeserved promotion, we’ll validate our nickname; Floriduuh! Moreover, we’ll deserve the depression we’re headed for.

It's time for analogies Charlie-Stlye
Governing is to campaigning for higher office
like
Fancy wedding is to lying about being gay to prepare for campaign for higher office

Aren't Republicans always talking about the need for less government? Heck, here's Charlie with sky-high approval ratings, sure to be the next senator, and governing just like party people have said they wanted for years. What's the problem? Rs have it made!

5:15 am - EXCELLENT!!! I wish we could post that on billboards ALL OVER THE STATE.

The tan is pretty good though.

Hey Alex, corporate donations and sponsorships are illegal in US Senate fundraising. This invite is illegal. Hello.

That depends, June 24, 20009 at 11:13 AM. It is necessarily so if done legally.
