Leon County GOP may slap Jim Greer

The resentment over Jim Greer's unsuccessful efforts to take sides in the Charlie Crist-Marco Rubio primary continues to simmer in the GOP base. Tonight the Leon County Republican Executive Committee is expected to vote on a resolution reaffirming the importance of primaries and letting voters pick their nominees.

More on that here in this radio interview.

Dan is a day late and dollar short as usual. Passing resolutions is so May 2009.

These far right kooks make me sick! Hope they are happy they are making us the laughing stock of the country. Minority of Republican but they have such a big mouth!!

LOL but crying inside.

its actually a positive thing. GOP leaders have finally come to terms with their arrogance and superiority complexes enough to not hide it. They are openly telling us that they are smarter than us and don't care what we might think. If Charlie is really the best man he shouldn't have any problem winning the race. So all of you geniuses and RPOF staffers that keep putting REPUBLICAN opposition down have fun. You may have the honor of telling your kids that you were the one who put the last nail in the coffin of the GOP. Be proud!

Bully for them!

And nuts to the bully Greer and his rear guard action for Shucking Chuckles.

Dockery-Rubio in 2010!
Greer's out.

Leon joins about half the RECs. They are asking for Greer's resignation in the July quarterly.

Dear Mo (2:40)

You mean the August Quarterly. If you are going to bash the RPOF you should get your facts straight.

Greer does not get it nor will he ever get it. He did not earn his position, his actions shows he has no respect for the REC's or its members and he doesn't understand nor can he lead grassroot operations. Take a look at the horrible job he and staff did in 2008 with all the money the party had. What is he going to do now that he has no money and no body trusts him?

Greer has surrounded himself with a bunch of "buddies" that tell him what he wants to hear while they are all chasing the next golden ring for themselves. They do not care for the survival of our party only the survival of themselves. The long term damage that has been done to the party in the 2 1/2 years he has been at the helm is unbelieveable. Our party's demise will fall squarely on his shoulders due to his lack of leadership.

Mo: you had it right it was a July meeting Greer and his "buddies" changed the date to give Greer more time for the RECs to calm down. Threw a bunch of things for the same weekend together supposedly for the good of the REC members...that's a joke! Their thoughts are the more feel good things Greer can wrap himself around people will forget that he tried to close down the Senate primary against Marco Rubio and hand deliver to his good buddy Crist while not allowing the voters to choose their candidate. What a loser!

Go Dan and go Leon County! I would do a resolution as Greer is not to be trusted. Greer says one thing and does another. The truth is not necessary his strong suit.

A lot of counties have passed resolutions as they do not trust Greer. Greer will do whatever he wants - just look at the budget - if you can ever see a copy. A budget gets passed by the members and then he spends whatever and for where ever he wants without any concern for what was passed in the budget.

Greer is nothing but a self-serving narcisist who cannot stand to see a news release without his picture on the front. He has done a huge disservice to the RPOF with his out- of-control spending and circle of yesmen. How humiliating it is to see him hold posh fundraisers while the unemployment rate is staggering and Florida is in a huge fiscal crisis. Instead of working to recruit true conservative candidates who will bring out the base, he spends his time fundraising for celebrity candidates in the Keys and the Bahamas. The Dems are laughing all the way to the polls.

Add the Leon GOP to the list of courageous county RECs to pass a resolution spanking Jim Greer. Good for them!

These counties passing these stupid resolutions have no effect on any of the decisions that the RPOF top leadership (Greer, Crist, Attwater, etc.) make regarding winning elections.

People like Dan Abel and the other County leaders that have whined and gotten a little press look like complete idiots, they are talked about by the political strategists who know how to win elections as being the exact reason why many elected officials and major donors try and stay as far away from the State Executive Committee and local REC's. I don't always agree with Chairman Greer, but I do agree as others do who know politics that he's been a fairly effective Chairman, has brought alot of new ideas to the Party and provided alot of resources to the local REC's that they never had. I would also ask to those REC's and people like Dan Abel, Jason Steele and others if you were Chairman, would anybody not think it was a no brainer to support a Governor of the same Party who has an 80% approval rating.

The Democrats must be laughing all the way to election day because these local REC's are attacking their own State Chairman, Pary Leadership and Governor.

These REC's ought to support their State Chairman and Governor and stop this circular firing squad and in fighting. If not, the Republican Party will lose in 2010.

Greer's biggest mistake was making the REC's more involved in the State Party's business. Chairman you should have listened because this is the thank's you get!!.

Dear "What's up with the GOP",

Your failure is to see the result that has been brought about by years of listening to the political strategists. The point you offer here about a loss in 2010 is a direct result of us doing what you suggest in your post.

Do you think the GOP is a bunch of strategists? Are you so far lost in your political ideology that you have forgotten that the party is the PEOPLE!?!?!?

Want to know why the party is falling apart? It is because the people have lost hope. They have no reason to participate. When candidates lobby the party chair for endorsement versus the constituents for nomination, you have ignored the people. Members will only take it for so long.

Want to see a resurgence in the party? Watch all of the counties that have passed resolutions like this and see what is happening to the party there.

The time for "rank and file" politics is over. The GOP belongs to the people. We choose to think for ourselves and no longer desire the strategists to tell us what is best for us.

If you can't figure this out, then you are in the wrong party.

To "what's up with the GOP".

Greer reinvents the wheel. He's done nothing that hasn't been done in the past, and really was done more effective in the past.

He has done one thing though that no one else has done: try to rule from the top down without getting buy-in from the very people he needs. The resolutions are the best ways to push back.

But here's a littlw secret I bet Greer never considered and would have worked tremendously well: not have made the stupid move to push for an endorsement. With that one simple step, embarassment would be avoided.

As it is the RECs are simply reacting to what they correctly see as improper support of one viable candidate over another by the person who was hand-selected by one candidate.

Staffers cry money is the issue - must concentrate resources. Fine. Tear down the likely Dem opponent. Regardless of who comes out on our side, the other side will already be damaged goods.

Also, raise money and quit spending like a drunk sailor. You can not say with a straight face that you have made the best possible decisions where finances are concerned.

Greer's problem is in how he deals with people. He's too arrogant though to see. But the RECs do, and that's why they're pushing back, but also demoralized because of how they've been treated. There's no will to work by the RECs because they have no big ideas and goals to aspire to - just numbers on spreadsheets.

You say Greer's given more resources - like what? The funding for small counties wasn't done this year because there's no money. Or so some counties have been told.

The current leadership, if that's what it can be called, is terribly inept and who handed us a defeat in 2008 and are virtually conceding a likely defeat in 2010 at the hands of Alex Sink.

So maybe Greer has given us what we haven't had in a few years: defeat.

In past elections I remember Dan being a puppet and enforcer of a REC Chair who forced candidates out of running against Ed DePuy.

This is a good thing for all Republicans. The Party loses credibility with the voters when the "bosses" try to exclude them from the process. If the RECs were to keep silent, the voters would feel completely powerless. These resolutions let the voters know that their opinions are valued and they do have a voice despite attempts to silence them. Perhaps a slap on the wrist or hurt pride for the "leadership," but most importantly, a big win for the 48,000 Republican voters of Leon County. This is the first step in repairing the damage done by mistakes on the part of leaders. Those mistakes can be forgiven, but the message had to be sent to the voters that someone is looking out for them.

The race to appeal to more voters has led to a lack of support for beliefs and morals in both parties.

While everyone is trying to cater to the middle, in order to get some registration numbers advantage, the country is falling apart as people revel in the attention they think they are getting.

It is working right now... but with continued economic hardships, lack of movement (by way of results) to fixing the problems... this ruse that has been embraced by the likes of Obama and Crist will come to a screeching halt very soon.

The first party to realize they need to come up with a platform of positions and hold fast to those positions based on their core beliefs will be the ones that benefit in future elections.

Why not get rid of rule 11 altogether? All it does is say the voters are too stupid to pick their own candidate.

10:29 yes that's an interesting piece of propaganda. here's a suggestion - find a set of core positions that hasn't cost the middle class 50 trillion dollars in lost wealth and cling to that. Obama did and he's wildly popular with voters.

Dear "Conservatives' bankrupt policies bankrupted America ",

The entire resolution was about core values. The people need to be heard and have a voice. This position costs nothing. It actually saves money!

Concerning your Obama statement, his current policies will be costing the middle class far more than you can imagine...and very shortly too. Having spent more money than the last 30 presidents combined, he is the one bankrupting America.

Granted, Bush's TARP plan was a move in the same direction. His spending never came close to what Obama has done.

The cause of our current economic condition is viewed differently by both sides of the isle, but you can not ignore what is going on right now...and that it is not working at all.

Thank for the effort!

Now that we told the RPOF to shove it we are going to pass a resolution endorsing Marco Rubio. He will win the Senate seat and we will have real change at the RPOF.

11:45 I understand that the forlorn hope of all subborn conservatives is to cling to your failed agenda and at the same time try to distance yourselves from your monumental failure by blaming it on Obama and the Democrats. It will certainly be "the people, stupid" if they fall for your dangerous and destructive propaganda. The middle class will benefit from Obama's policies, but I honestly believe we are going to have to tax the rich to pay for them. Nothing wrong with that - they have been the beneficiaries of right-wing largess and irresponsible fiscal policies for the last 30 years.

Dear "Conservatives' bankrupt policies bankrupted America"

Propoganda?? It was an opinion...

Democrat policies that led to sub-prime lending, lack of oversight from republicans, etc. etc. etc. all led to the bankruptcy of America as you put it... and all of those policies and positions were a result of pandering for votes...

I put the blame on both parties and suggest that both parties can come out ahead, depending on who wakes up first...

Continuation of Bush's actions, continuation of Obama's actions... would have and will lead to further ruin of our great nation...

So go back to posting for $5 a blog post and instead of reading your boss's opinion, do a little research outside of your partisan bleating...

11:59 it's the continuation of Reagan's irresponsible policies that has led our nation to ruin. And you can count on me to remind folks, over and over again, every time the lunatic fringe tries to reassert their failed agenda. And it won't cost anyone a single dime!

Dan is a day late and dollar short as usual. Passing resolutions is so May 2009.

Marco Rbio is a true fiscal conservative. He beleives governments should tighten their belts when the economy gets tough the same way the private sector does. We need a tough fiscal conservative as our voice in Washington
