Poll gives Bill McCollum 42-34 lead over Alex Sink in governor's race
A new Rasmussen Reports survey shows Republican Bill McCollum ahead of Democrat Alex Sink 42 to 34 percent in the 2010 governor's race. Undecided voters comprised 18 percent.
The poll found male voters leaning toward McCollum and female voters evenly split between him and Sink, who would be the state's first female governor. Incumbent Gov. Charlie Crist received approval from 60 percent of the voters. All the numbers are here.
Rasmussen Reports also looked at the U.S. Senate race, where Crist leads Democratic frontrunner Kendrick Meek by 18 points.

This is a great poll for Sink. Many voters may not know that "Alex Sink" is a woman. As more learn that she is, look for that female vote to shift substantially in her direction. McCollum has nowhere to go but down.

This is the (same) lead that Mason-Dixon had a few weeks ago too.

Posted by: Say It Ain't So | June 25, 2009 at 01:46 PM
Great poll for sink because many voters don't know she is a woman? Are these the supremely educated, well informed, and intelligent Democrats that don't know she is a woman? Or are they the mysogonist, stupid, selfish, and ignorant Republicans that don't know she is a woman?
Her campaign strategy will be to show the clueless she is a woman, but to not let them hear her speak (redneck).

This poll was done before the airplane scandal came to light. She is trying to mislead people into believing that if you pay back money for something that is an illegal air-taxi for her family, then its ok. Its not.

Gator(R) please! your persona of "genteel scum" is slipping and exposing the racist and bigot underneath. If you really want people to think you're not just another ID for that "liar for hire" McToady, you must strive harder to keep the personas distinct.
For example, everyone on the Buzz has by now identified your "get-smart" as a known racist - if you want to allude to Alex Sink's ancestry or make jokes about "Carnies" or "Chang and Eng", that would be the ID to do it under. It would be entirely in character for get-smart the race-baiting bigot to say those things, but NOT for "Gator(R)" the faux-moderate easygoing Republican who damns with faint praise and oozes slippery half-truths.
Remember - keeping the dozens of different IDs distinct is critical to creating the illusion of a groundswell of grassroots support, and that's what our employer is paying us to do for these hapless and discredited conservatives.

Not a very good poll for Millionaire Banker Alex Sink. The hits have just started coming on her. The more people know about her the less they will like her.

If you think the plane stuff is bad, well, actually the plane stuff is really bad.
If Kottkamp took a hard hit over it, she will get whacked.
She screwed a lot of people in business here in Tampa -- Karma is an Alex.

Last week he trails, this week he leads. I wish him well. It is a testament to a lack of leadership that in only 3 years of his Governorship, Florida has gone blue in the Presidential race and now the governor's mansion is teetering. A far cry from the shape of the state and the party as Jeb Bush left office. Crist rode Bush's coat tails to Jeb's 3rd term, but has left no coat tails for anyone else. If McCollum wins, it will be in spite of Crist, not because of him.

WASHINGTON (OBC) The Obama Broadcasting Company begins its summer schedule this evening with an in-depth infomercial "Who Wants to Have Socialized Healthcare?" broadcast live from the new corporate headquarters in the White House. The network, formerly known as ABC (The American Broadcasting Company) has decided to make its long-standing ties with the Administration official.
"We will of course maintain the fiction that we are objective, investigative, and impartial," said Anne Sweeney, President of Disney-OBC Television Group. "American viewers have a child-like trust of major networks, but if we move too quickly even they might be able to detect an agenda in our broadcasting. You can rest assured that we are completely in the tank for Obama, though."

3:16 - nothing racists, sexist bigotted in my post - and hopefully I will never do so - I don't play that way. Just poking fun at assumptions by some Democrats about Republicans being stupid and/or ignorant. You appear guilty of this yourself.
Technically, a person that would vote for someone based on whether they are male or female is being sexist. Personally, I understand why a woman may do so, there are not enough women in positions of power, and the men have certainly made a mess of things.
I have daughters, I like to see good role models for them as well.
And while I disagree with most of what Obama is doing, I believe he represents a huge step for the US.
I still won't vote for a Democrat though.

It is very telling that in giving Crist a lead in the Senate race, Rasmussen only matches him up against Democrats. Nothing about the critical PRIMARY.
And that not a great one, considering he is a sitting Governor matched up against 2 Democrats with no statewide name recognition.

Funny, I didn't realize that any of these people had actually secured a spot as the party's nominee. It's irrelevant that the democrats that were polled think Charlie is better than Meek. Charlie won't be the candidate for Senate so it really doesn't matter what these idiotic polls say...

Many people also do not know Alex Sink was the president of Bank of America FL and was much responsible for Florida's economic and mortgage mess.
Posted by: John | June 25, 2009 at 11:13 PM
Actually, this poll has very similiar results to a previous poll and this poll also showed Pres Obama is slipping fast. I believe the NY Times national poll showed the same slippage. Florida now has a higher disapproval rating for Obama than approval. That was a quick honeymoon period, not even 6 months.

socialism is a horrible disease. The identity politics that socialists thrive on is so anti-American. Race, gender, class warfare, what next full blown nazism? Obamacons and bushbots are doing their best to destroy this nation. Why?

Do we think politicians do not have families? Do we really think a child should fly commercial-ALONE, just to appease "voters"? Who gives a darn if Sink's family joined her here or there and the plane stopped in Tampa to let them off far from home? It's not like they landed in their front yard! Which they could do if they wanted to!!!!
Sink has a family. The family makes sacrafices so she can serve Floridians.
She should not have to apologize for trying to fit in some family time.
Sad and stupid! The voters, I mean!

Posted by: John | June 25, 2009 at 11:13 PM" I found this quote and thought it would be helpful for you to make up your mind about who the REAL banking villain is. Reprinted w/o permission from a good friend.
"
From Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Thomas on his eponymous blog:
I wrote a column today pointing out how Alex Sink has a problem because of her career with Bank of America. She was long gone before all the financial recklessness started, but perception is everything.
But Bill McCollum has his own issues here. He generally was regarded as a lap dog for the banking industry during his congressional years. In 1989, Public Campaign (an open government group) gave McCollum its "Golden Leash'' award for accepting $373,857 in campaign cash from the banking and financial service industries while using his position on the Banking and Financial Services Committee and the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee to promote anti-consumer credit card legislation. Here is a link on the award.
So when Florida Republican Chairman Jim Greer refers to "Banker Alex Sink'' and brings her career into the race, he might want to consider how many stones he wants to throw in this glass house."
Ummm hey nice try but the propaganda won't get by without a rebuttal.See, this is not weekly standard, they allow and even encourage a divergent point of view!

If you people are calling OB's health care plan another form of Socialism I want you to consider/answer the following question. How much money do we the taxpayers TODAY pay to care for every "Tom Dick and Harry plus his counterparts named Jose etc.” for health care? No one in our country goes without health care and the working classes pay for it one way or another. Can you grasp this concept that everyone today gets health care whether the person has health care insurance or not? We already have Socialized Medicine if you look at it with your tunnel vision.
Once you get my point, you will get OB’s agenda on health care for all, and by the way, the Republican Party is behind the idea its’ just that the Bush administration did not get it passed while he was in office. OB and the legislators are trying to figure out a way to get money out of “everyone” to help pay for health care. They do not want to “just get” money out of the people that already are paying the health care insurance companies. They are trying their best to get something out of everyone.
Aren’t you tired of paying for the immigrants and all the scum balls on welfare etc? Wake up. Analyze what is going on now and what both the Republican and Democratic Senate are trying to do before you run your mouth about Socialism.

head to head might be right, but there is no way that Brown and Meek have 70-80% name identification. Most polls have had Meek between 25-30.

The Rasmussen poll looks very similiar to the NY Times poll on Obama slippage plus the Gov's race number looks similiar to other polling numbers like the recent Mason Dixon poll.
I think it's pretty accurate.
