Marco Rubio gets backing from U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller

Panhandle Congressman Jeff Miller, who was on Gov. Charlie Crist's shortlist for lieutenant governor 2006, today endorsed Marco Rubio over Crist in the GOP primary for the U.S. Senate.

"This race has tremendous implications for the future of Florida and the very foundation of conservatism in America. Marco Rubio possesses an impressive combination of idea-driven, principled leadership and the ability to communicate conservative values in ways that resonate at the kitchen table. Americans deserve better than the current big government, borrow-and-spend road we are on, and I believe Marco Rubio will be a compelling voice to lead us to a stronger and more prosperous America.”

Here's Miller's endorsement of Crist in the 2006 race.

What we need is a government that protects us from conservatives. They are all in bed with the corporations which are striving to take control of our political system through twits like Marco Rubio.

Oh wow...

10:21, in Government less government is good government - and you can thank a corporation for your job I guarantee you - whether you work for one, provide services to one, provide services to people who work for one or have your salary paid for by their taxes, so don't be so quick to criticize them, twit.

OH PLEASE! IT'S DEMOCRATS LIKE YOURSELF AND YOUR MORON PRESIDENT THAT WANT'S TO OWN EVERYTHING AND FOR YOU TO DEPEND ON BIG GOVERMENT!AND IT'S RINO'S LIKE GOV.CRIST THAT HELP OBAMA AND THE DEM'S! MARCO RUBIO IS AGAINST BIG GOVERMENT AND SPENDING! YOU NEED TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK! MARCO IS GOING TO BEAT THE HELL OUT OF GOV.CRIST IN THIS REPUBLICAN PRIMARY! WE HAVENT FORGOTTEN THAT LOVE FEST WITH GOV.CRIST HAD WITH OBAMA! GO MARCO GO! WWW.MARCORUBIO.COM AND DONATE GOV.CRIST OUT!!!

Rousing endorsement Represenative Miller, being that you are from the Florida Panhandle, could this by chance be payback to acquire Rubio's silence for his knowledge of some of your fellow panhandle politicians? Namely Sansom and the other 2.

"Resonate at the kitchen table", he says, at the rate he (Miller) and W. Bush has left us, we are lucky we do not have to eat that table!

10:35 If our citizens are that beholden to corporations for our well-being, that's all the more reason to have a stong regulatory government to protect us from their exploitation. Corporations only care about one thing, and that's profits. If they could turn the US population into serfs, that would suit them just fine. If we ever reach a point where corporate servitude isn't the biggest threat to the US citizen, THEN we can allow government to stand down. Now please go ask Bob Barr for your paycheck of which 99% comes from donations by Big Business, twerp.

10:21 Jeff Miller is a right wing religious extremist like Rubio. No difference. The so called "conservatives" like SC Governor Sanford and soooo many others like him are far worse then the liberals that do the same. At least the libs are not pushing their morals on the rest of us while they are practicing hypocrites. I have had enough of these "conservatives" . That title has nothing to do with the meaning it once had. And to the extreme religious types that think government is there to push their religious beliefs on others, the ones that want us to disregard the Constitution and only recognize them and their morals, are backing these "conservatives" even when they see time and time again that they are liars and hypocrites. I am sick and tired of these right wingers using the "conservative" label. I will now, not vote for a candidate that is being proclaimed as the "conservative" candidate. And for the leaders of these churches to keep selling their congregations a bunch of junk about how they should vote for who they say is the most "conservative", should be run out of town for either lying to them or for just being the biggest most gullable dumb a-ses in the world. I think some of these leaders know these politicians are hypocrites and don't care as long as they get them to espouse the things these religious leaders want them to, that's what will keep the dough rolling in at the church. Its time for the rest of America to tell the churches, that you either love this country and its Constitution that gives us all the right to our own religious beliefs, however contrary to yours, and even the right to have no religious beliefs, or go find an island of your own somewhere where you can practice all the extremism on yourselves. Stay out of the political world because as we can see you are not doing a good job as you seem to support all the hypocrites, adulterers, the gays and liars, all the people you profess that the bible condemns.

reporters are an uneducated lot

Good Lord, you liberal extremists are real nutjobs, you know that!

Can we PLEASE get a third Party in this country before these two groups of morons destroy what's left of this once great nation!

11:12 I would love to see the Green Party become a force in US politics. We have the Democrats to protect our citizens from the Corporations; now if only we could elect someone to extend the same protection to the environment.

10:36 Ha hahahhahahahahahahhahhha What a dreamer you are. You go right on dreaming. Crist will wipe the little right winger out. Please keep that "conservative" label on Rubio. After this last "conservative" scandal, that is what will remain in the minds of all voters.

10:59 Thank you for expressing mine and so many others feelings about this issue so well. That is the main reason the Republicans are continuing to lose so many R's like me. R for all our lives and worked hard for R principles and candidates.

Rubio for small government? Check again. He expanded government spending AND he increased House staff and increased the pay of his House staffers!

He (Rubio)is self promoting too much, reaching too far and only getting these endorsements from the same type of elected official most of us don't want in office. He doesn't get it or it is just to stretch his candidacy as far as he can. Miller and Demint mean nothing to most Floridians, and they certainly represent everything the people are voting against.

""10:21, in Government less government is good government - and you can thank a corporation for your job I guarantee you - whether you work for one, provide services to one, provide services to people who work for one or have your salary paid for by their taxes, so don't be so quick to criticize them, twit.

I for one think the corporations owe something to us.NOT the other way around.
This post shows the attitude so prevalent among you pro business conservatives. This is why none of the current day conservatives had any trouble at all with Bush's borrow and spend because it benefited those who pull the strings of the corporations.
Also those who make money with money,
(capital gains)now after the Bush regime made the income tax pro wealthy and pro corporate executives they pay far less in most cases then a working class American.
Have you ever heard of a "government for the PEOPLE and by the PEOPLE"?
In no place in the constitution do I see anywhere that a corporate head is better then any working American!!!
""When the people discover they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic" - Ben Franklin ..."
Do you know who this statement could be directed towards NOW? Corporate executives of PUBLIC companies!
In a time of economic distress we have bone headed conservatives like this poster who think its perfectly OK for an executive to vote himself more money while laying off workers,If this is a privately held company I don't care, most of these corporations are publicly traded.
NOTE TO CONSERVATIVE POSTER;
Please keep posting the truth as understood by you and your kind,it enlightens us(the people) to "where we the people" stand in your pro corporation country and help us decide who can best run this country of "we the people"!

11:33 Well written. I agree and so many people feel the same way. Tired of the giveaways.

"10:35 If our citizens are that beholden to corporations for our well-being, that's all the more reason to have a stong regulatory government to protect us from their exploitation. If the corporate heads were not greedy then of course we could do away with regulation, this is not the case!
Need proof of corporate greed? While unemployment is rising executives over the entire spectrum of business are raising their own salaries while kicking workers to the curb or asking workers to make concessions.
We are seeing greed at it's worst and yet an entire group within a political party are defending these actions, both of concessions of workers and pay raises and benefit packages for "conservative"executives.

Why do conservative work hard and pay taxes, just so the liberals can suck off the social programs and blog all day?

11:33 I don't think the facts back up your assertion that the wealthy pay far less than 'working class' americans. Seems to me I heard that a majority of people don't pay any Federal Income Taxes (below the threshold).

I am pro-business and pro-corporation, but I acknowledge way to many manipulated and abused the system. Salaries and bonuses were way out of line for executives. The argument has been that the pay needs to be that high to retain them. First quesion I would have is "Where are they going to go - no other country would pay that kind of money?" and "If they are worth so much money, why are so many companies stinking it up."

But on the other hand auto workers salaries were way out of line with the skills that were needed. My quesion above would apply to them as well "Where else would you go, no other country is going to pay that kind of money."

Our country also has much stricter zoning and permitting processes, tighter pollution, workers' compensation and unemployment compensation laws that many countries. Particularly the ones sending their poisonous toys and food (China). We should hold any country importing into the US to the same standards that we require from our corporations.

REMEMBER the good old days when vice-president DUMMIE QUAIL said:

"repuklikans dont vote for people whose last names end in a VOWEL!"?

those were the blantantly racist days, werent they?

now you turds have to be a bit more discrete, doncha?

REMEMBER THIS IS A REPUBLICAN PRIMARY! AND ONLY REPUBLICANS VOTE! SO ALL YOU LOONEY LIBERALS CAN TALK ALL YOU WANT! BUT ON ELECTION DAY...MARCO IS GOING TO BEAT THE HELL OUT OF LIBERAL OBAMA LOVEN CRIST! THAT MEANS NO INDEPENDANTS OR DEMOCRATS CAN VOTE AND A NEW GALLUP POLL IN FL SHOWED THAT INDEPENDANTS ARE REGISTERING AS REPUBLICANS TO VOTE FOR MARCO BECAUSE GOV.CRIST IS ALL ABOUT BIG OBAMA GOVERMENT! US REPUBLICANS HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN OBAMA & CRIST ON TV HUGGING FOR THAT STUPID STIMULUS PLAN!PUT A FORK IN CRIST! HE IS DONE! LOL!!! WWW.MARCORUBIO.COM

Slowly but surely the tan mans armor is being chipped away. When the Republican Primary is held there will not be a lot of stimulus package supporting traitors in the voting booths. Nor will there be a lot of people who think it is a good idea to give amnesty to illegal aliens during a time of massive unemployment. And the felons who enjoyed having their right to vote restored by Crist will not tip the balance in his favor.

Crist would do better to come out of the political closet and run with the green party or as a democrat. He is a lifetime away from his "Chain Gang Charlie" days.

The fairy @ 10:35 will wish he had never spoke the truth.I imagine he is a paid poster who will at very minimum get scolded or probably get fired. This is not limbaughs magical world where everyone nods their head in agreement or fox news where viewers eyes glass over while reciting repeatedly "fair and balanced","fair and balanced" This is the real world where we don't buy into that we owe our lives and futures and money to the all powerful Corporations,NOT IN MY LIFETIME!!!
Read the polls you moron, not the fake ones from rasmussen real polls and you will see that people are sick and tired of individuals raping our publicly traded and held companies while throwing the workers out on their butts.
I want controls of executives pay, just like Reagan busted the air traffic controllers by using military personal,(which is socialism at its best)I want government intervention and rules set in place to allow stock holders to vote on pay packages for executives as well as workers.

Why is this news - Marco already has the backing of many of the most influential people in the Panhandle - Sansom, Richburg, Odom are the first to come to mind.

I will be joining Marco Rubio at several July 4th "tea party" events to protest the conservative government's tax cuts for the rich and corporate welfare under President Bush. Please join me in this protest against the same corporate favoritism which propmpted an heroic group of colonists to dump the East India Company's tax-exempt tea into Boston Harbor in 1773! Everyone who believes corporations should pay their fair share of taxes is encouraged to attend!

Who else in Fla has ever heard of MIller? As for DeMint, at least now being from SC will mean something, although not what he hopes, I'm sure. I don't get what all these no-name endorsements are supposed to mean.

Equalizer is right.

Charlie wants to be everything to everyone., I am tired of
"I'll look into it" statements.

He has done nothing for the voters, and it has been nothing
but "all about Charlie and his political ambitions".

He reached his level of incompetence a long time ago, is not a leader, and should just sit back and wait for another
political appointment from someone who owes him a favor.

Please don't be fooled by Charlie again. Don't send him to Washington.

If you're sick of "sellout Charlie", and we all know Rubio's a corporate-owned fascist, why not just vote DEM?

Jeff Miller represents about 8% of the Republican electorate, maybe more in a shorter turnout election like the 2010 primary. The Panhandle votes. This does matter.
Coupled with breakage in Pasco, Monroe, this is not a good thing for Crist in any spin class he and the braintrust may attend.

More to the point, Rasmussen has him at only 46% versus Meek I read.

The repiggies are certainly being rude today. I guess their nerves have been rubbed a bit raw by the Sanford imbroglio.
"How do you solve a problem like Maria?"

It must be tough to maintain such saintly standards as a party when so much of the membership is so rotten and lacking in integrity.

It must really make their teeth hurt to see the Obamas on date night, or enjoying an outing with their children.
I realize that the Party of Stupid doesn't do irony, but, oh,
the irony of it all...

This is good press for Rep. Miller, but the most important question is whether or not former Governor Jeb Bush will officially endorse and assist Speaker Rubio - as he is doing with goofy-boy McCollum. This is significant for a number of reasons, as Rubio is Jeb's protege. Jeb Bush holds the one endorsement that could be key in this very interesting primary election - a proxy battle over the "heart and soul" of the GOP... At this point, I would not be willing to fully trust public opinion polls that suggest Crist will crush the young, energetic and idealistic Rubio, as the race has yet to begin...

What is this guy saying? Is he claiming Rubio is no longer a conservative? Is this some sort of trick to overcome the negative image the majority now have of conservatives?
If this is some silly trick by a Rubio operative because he knows the REAL Rubio can NOT get elected?
I like the operatives post about buying Rubio a seat through donations, that's a good one too.
I don't think that paid operative is smart enough to know that not all exposure is good for his guy, most exposure today is either paid operatives or negative results from those paid posters.

thanks mike m

Just think,Obama is not shoving "how one should live his/her life" down anyone's throat,he is live and let live as are most Americans (excluding conservatives)
and to see so many of their (conservative) leaders have morality issues after demanding that from others.
I wonder was 12:34's intention to be sarcastic? I hate to give him an out but no way can this idiot get paid much for these bone headed posts,or it may be that he has no oversight.

I will be joining Rush Limbaugh at several July 4th "tea party" events to protest the Libertarian Party's misconstruction of The Boston Tea Party as a protest against taxation.

A careful reading of history will clearly show that the Bostonians were dumping the East India Company's tax exempt tea as a protest against this "corporate welfare" by the British Monarchy. By forcing the colonies to accept the untaxed tea, the Monarchy and the East India Company were acting in collusion and engaging in a war for corporate profit - not unlike the recent Exxon-Mobil War in Iraq as sponored by the Bush administration using American Taxpayers' money.

Please join me in this protest against the Libertarians, who are trying to pass this off as a patriotic example of protest against taxes, when if fact they themselves are the perpetrators of crimes very similar to those which the Bostonians were combating with their actions in 1773.

Will Sanford and Ensign be tea-bagging?

So funny and so true 1:55
It seems as though Rubio may have hung the moon for our paid poster from the faraway place called limbaughland or on the other coast they have foxworld.

I hope Marco wins and keeps the Dems out of the seat. We need someone to protect us from twitts that want to take our hard earned money and give it to Green Piece & ACORN.

Who cares about this endorsement?

Can't decide if Marco Rubio reminds me more of Ray Sansom or Mark Sanford.

As a Rubio supporter, it is energizing to see the "Cristies" and their vitriol on this and other blogs. Do they hear footsteps? Is this why Crist had his boy Greer try to use obscure rules to get Rubio out of the race?

Who do you support as the Republican nominee for for U.S. Senate in 2010?

Bob Coggins

Charlie Crist

Gwyn McClellan

Belinda Noah

Marco Rubio

Robert Clinton Smith

Marion D. Thorpe, Jr.

Tom Walsh

Last paragraph is a good point. It is very ironic that we are criticizing a man who seems to live by our 'moral standards' better than we do.

I guess I am due for a midlife crisis, but I sure hope I don't end up in Brazil for crying out loud.

Crist is sane and has common sense. This may hurt his chances with florida republican voters who gravitate towards the crazy. Lets hope Charlie stays sane anyhow and doesn't start sounding like Mitt Romney.

It will be interesting.

Charlie Crist, the Republican with a chance to win the State and Marco Rubio with a chance to elect another Democratic Senator.

It seems that between 2006 and today Republicans who have had years of being spoon fed the concept that this nation is chocked full of voters that share their view, after all, it's hard to find any radio personalities that are not from the Right side of politics, so, it must be true Republicans control elections.

Then time comes to vote, and what happens?

Democrats win, Democrats win again, and if it weren't for gerrymandering, the Florida Legislature wouldn't be Republican held.

This nation changed, so did Florida, while your attention was given to listening to what you want to hear from your favorite Conservative heroes, you became marginallized without noticing, except at election times, and then, you were shocked, your heroes said that cant happen, you are the majority.

But it did and you are not the majority, but, you are a shrinking minority.

All I have to say is, if Marco Rubio beats Charlie in the Primary, Democrats across the state thank you in advance for the Senate seat.
