Diaz-Balart brothers endorse Crist
U.S. Reps. Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart have endorsed Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate.
"Charlie Crist understands that freedom is under attack and it must be protected with clarity and firmness by the United States. He will be an effective Senator for Florida. I strongly support him," Lincoln Diaz-Balart said in a statement.
The support of the Diaz-Balart brothers should help Crist in two areas: becoming more familiar with U.S. policy in Cuba and Latin America and helping to neutralize the support that his opponent, Marco Rubio, has in the Cuban community in greater Miami. Crist and Mario Diaz-Balart, the younger of the two brothers, served together in the state Senate in the 1990s.
The brothers backed Bill McCollum over another prominent Cuban American, Mel Martinez, in the 2004 Senate race, though that came before Martinez entered the race.

It was the idiots in the Florida House that we can blame for this! (and that shill for big business Calabro makes no sense as usual):

Major coup for Crist considering Rubio being the self-proclaimed great Hispanic hope for Republicans. Crist is our best chance of keeping this seat and anyone who has common sense knows it. Smart move by Diaz-Balarts.

This endorsement is meaningless. In 2004 the Diaz-Balart brothers endorsed Bill McCullom for the US Senate in the primary against Mel Martinez. They even did television commercials, direct mail and automated calls for McCullom in Miami-Dade County. Here is the impact their endorsement had against a Cuban-American Republican candidate among Republican voters in their own back yard. And Martinez was not even from Miami. Enough said.
2004 Miami-Dade County Republican Primary Results
UNITED STATES SENATOR
Johnnie BYRD 1185
Doug GALLAGHER 12356 (9%)
Larry KLAYMAN 721
William Billy KOGUT 314
Sonya MARCH 889
Mel MARTINEZ 102441 (80%)
Bill MCCOLLUM 10372 (8%)
Karen SAULL 919
Even no-name Doug Gallagher beat the Diaz-Balart candidate. Talk about non-consequential.

Roberto, Thanks for showing us all that you know how to cut and paste. Save your drivel for another blog, as you can see there is plenty here already.

Wait until the rest of the state finds out that Charlie is supporter by pro-amnesty congressmen like the Diaz-Balarts. He can hardly get 50% support among Republicans now. This endorsement will make him tank even further.

Rubio cannot even get other Cuban Republicans to support him. HAHAHAHA. That reminds me of how Bob Menendez a Cuban Democrat didn't support Raul Martinez and Joe Garcia. Everyone remember how well they did?

I guess this is the Diaz-Balarts way of saying thank you for Crist cozying up to Obama and throwing them and every other Republican Congressman under the bus on the Stimulus package. They didn't like Mel Martinez outranking them in Congress and they cannot stand the idea of a Cuban-American much younger and greener than they are besting them too while they remain stuck in their little niches in South FLorida and get passed up for leadership positions by the Republican Party.

Any mention of Marco gets the McToady out of his hole and bloggin like mad under a dozen IDs. Who pays his salary? Is it Marco "my head is even biger than JEBs" Rubio or the tax fanatics that love Marco's fascist policies?

Everyone in Miami knows Rubio is a sham. We all know about his sweet deal on a home loan, his no-bid contracts at Miami Children's and at Jackson Memorial, and his open support for a Cuban-American group that funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to the Obama campaign.

Ed Rogers from the Reagan and H.W. Bush administrations makes the point that it’s basically never good to lose a Senator:
Notice to Republicans: Arlen Specter changing parties is good for the Democrats and President Obama and bad for us. If you think otherwise, put down the Ann Coulter book and go get some fresh air.

Two knuckleheads like the Diaz-Balart brothers serving in Congress show just how whacked out our country has become.
Nowhere else on Earth could a couple of twits like these two serve in a countries national legislature.
although both are horrible legislators, currently on the wrong side of the aisle and should have been defeated in the last election, they persevered mainly due to weak opposition by Dem candidates.
both voted in lockstep with W and helped destroy the country.
but they got all the votes from the abuelas and abuelos on Calle Ocho (you know the ones who have lived in the US for 40 years but still can't speak English)?
not to mention, Miami is famous for voter fraud.
an endorsement from the D-B brothers is like an endorsement from Fidel Castro!

Gov Crist restored voting rights to convicted felons.... a couple of hundred thousand Democrats who are criminals
Crist expanded Citizens Insurance to be the largest property insurer in the state with the Florida taxpayers at risk for billions of $, 1 hurricane away from financial disaster.
Attempted to expand gambling carte blanche without the approval of the state legislature and was sued by Speaker Rubio and Speaker Rubio was affirmed by the Fl Supreme Court.
Crist embraced and promoted Pres. Obama's trillion dollar porkulus package leaving future Americans with generations worth of debt
Charlie Crist should never be allowed to be elected to public office as a Republican....... ever.

8:43 Yes! They were constantly at war with the Rubio-Rivera gang over who was going to get to shake down the citizens of Florida for protection money.

U.S. Reps. Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart have endorsed Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate.
__________
With these enforsements in Rubio's own backyard and with the very poor fundraising, Marco Rubio should fold his tents for Washington, D.C. and instead focus on his family, work and other forms of political expression.
