Did Charlie Crist lie?

When we asked Gov. Charlie Crist last week if he'd exceed U.S. Senate disclosure rules and supply the press with his campaign finance figures in a commonly used database format, the Republican candidate was quick to say "We'd be happy to...We'd be happy to accommodate to the very best of our abilities... We'd be happy to try, sure."

Now, Crist reversed himself.

"I said that we would try and I found that it is challenging -- challenging I guess, in one way, because we were relatively successful. We'll adhere to the letter of the law. And we think that's important to do," Crist said.

Q: But all you have to do is attach the data in an email and send it along. Why not?

Crist: "We'll adhere to the letter of the law and look forward to doing so and all the data is available to anybody who wants it."

Q: What about disclosing a list of your bundlers?

Crist: "We'll adhere to the letter of the law and I think that it's imporant to do so."

Q: What changed your mind?

Crist: "Nothing has."

Q: But you did change your mind though.

Crist: "No I said we'd try."

Q: But you're not.

Crist, who was heading out in his SUV, closed the door and left without answering.

He lied. We all need to realizes Charlie Crist is no good he just wants a job where he has to do nothing. Look it took Alex Leary of this newspaper to catch Sansom Richburg and Odom. Crist knew I know I told him that these type things were going on I told McCollum also. I show them and sent them paper work to prove things like this on how the state of Florida was being robbed. How them themselves had gave millions to criminals and begged them to get it back. They refused just a sorry letter. If the state of Florida the state they are running was being robbed for millions shouldn't they do something? Well they didn't in the worst of times. Alex should run better yet let us appoint him to get us out of this mess. So far he has did a better job that these two, Charlie and Bill.

Crist lied again. His concerns ptrimarily are connected to a particluar fundraiser named Mori Hosseini of Volusia COunty Daytona Beach. ( The same guy who Crist cannot provide receipts for reimbursing him for use of his jet). This particluar bundler is using funds recieved from a Florida Forever grant to finance the Crist campaign. The Donor got 5.6 million from F;lorida Forever on land the FDEp had appraised at 3.2 million doallrs. The land is known as the Stanaki Parcels and Crist granted development rights on it AFTER the State was negotiating to buy it. That decision was done in derrogation of a court ruing that he should not grant the rights of the donor would use the development rights to increase the price he would charge taxpayers for the land. In the cabinet meeting the donor replied "maybe " when asked if that was the plan. See FLWAC minutes form May 31 2006.

I voted for him for Governor. That will be the last time I ever vote for him. Don't know much about Rubio but like what I have seen so far but I will vote for him or I won't vote. If it comes down to Kendrick Meek or Charlie Crist, I don't know what I will do. I haven't voted Democratic in years (since Lawton Chiles, Bob Graham, who is now a leftist, and Jimmy Carter- what a mistake-- the democratic party left me, I didn't leave them), but I might vote for Meek so that a real conservative could take him out in six years. Crist will be there forever claiming to be Republican but acting like a big government Democrat and really just flapping with whatever way the wind blows. He really makes my stomach turn when he is always talking about "the people" this, and "the people" that. The people want someone with conviction who will do the right thing even if it is not politically popular. Crist ain't that.

Marc Caputo -- Crist said he would "try." Simply because you do not like his final answer, it is why over the top to ask if he lied. If that is your standard, should we ask Did Marc Caputo Lie? next time you run a "correction" or "clarification" after a published news article?

In one of his first acts as governor in Jan of '07, Charlie Crist dismissed 284 (all but one) of the "greatest governor in the country" appointments, though he had been governor for less than 2 weeks.

Gov. Crist campaigned as "Chain Gang Charlie!" to emphasize his "tough stance" on crime, then right after his inauguration immediately pursued restoring convicted felons rights to vote (RCR) against the legal counsel of Attorney General, Bill McCollum. Crist did this to lay the political ground work for a National run.

Crist extended voting hours during the 2008 Presidential election which permitted 5,000 more Democrats to vote per hour. I am the"people's" governor remember?

Gov. Crist has expanded gambling in the state of Florida at a rate never witnessed before, and was reprimanded and reversed by the Florida Supreme Court for violating the Florida Constitution for circumventing the Florida legislature.

Though Charlie Crist campaigned in 2006 that he is pro-life, Crist has publicly expressed his support for tax payer funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research which destroys innocent human life, which is not only immoral but scientifically does not work, and has yet to yield one success.

Gov. Crist has essentially destroyed and socialized the insurance industry in Florida leaving property owners and the Florida taxpayers at a huge financial risk.

The governor is rarely at work in Tallahassee but been consumed with campaigning for VEEP and now the U.S. Senate since taking office.

Crist has publicly supported, campaigned and and embraced
Pres. Obama's disastrous "stimulus" package loaded with trillions of pork barrel spending which will not create jobs or boost the economy in our state or at the national level. Crist supported this though NOT ONE Republican in Congress from Florida voted for it.

Gov. Crist 100% embraces the false "science" of Global Warming even attending the CLINTON GLOBLAL INITIATIVE in N.Y. with Bill Clinton Al Gore, Gov. Schwarzennegar, Brad Pitt, Ted Turner etc.

Crist supports Cap and Trade policies which will harm small businesses in Florida with huge costs which will be passed on to the consumer but not effect lowering the temperature.

Gov. Crist recently appointed a liberal ACLU backed Democrat to the Florida Supreme Court shifting the court further to the left.

Less than 2 weeks ago, Gov. Crist was (again) smacked down by the Florida Supreme Court

for violating the Florida Consitution by not appointing a judge to the bench whose names were selected by HIS hand picked J.N.C.

Gov. Crist has another fundraiser in N.Y. this week at the home of a N.Y. City Real Housewive, with thrice married gambling mogul, Donald Trump, as a host.

Under Gov. Crist's "conservative" leadership, FLORIDA lost the Presidential election to the Democrats for the first time since 1976.

Charlie Crist has governed as a self serving political opportunist attempting to aspire for higher office. This behavior is what is wrong with our party.

And we expect the truth after all this?

Point is, this contribution data is entered into a spreadsheet, likely excel, likely by his finance staff, and is certainly convertible into excel if not. It is available, they choose not to make it public information, which is their right to do. But he did lie to the press, no doubt about it, despite the pitiful attacks on Caputo displayed above.PolitFactoid.

Well, unless he handwrites a 4.3 million dollar report and sent that to the Secretary of the Senate.

I think it was probably Cornyn and the Senators who endorsed him saying, "Yo yo, hey, Charlie, why dont you just not do that. Don't show us up"

As to whether he lied, the answer is no.

In order to lie, one has to give a straight answer, and Chuckles is incapable of such a thing, which makes him worse than a liar. It makes him a slimy, no-character, wimp politician.
