First attack ad against Sink focuses on plane use
Election day is more than a year away, but the first attack ad against Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink is already on YouTube. Perhaps it's also the first intellectual property theft of the election year as well.
The internet ad comes courtesy of Stafford Jones and Jay Navarette, the Alachua County Republicans who run the Don't Bank on Sink web site.
The ad hits CFO Sink for her use of the state plane, following recent Herald/Times stories about how Sink and her opponent, Attorney General Bill McCollum, use the state plane at taxpayer expense. By the way, the creators of the ad neither asked nor received permission to use our video. (We'll ask our lawyers what they think....)
The Times editorial board today knocked Sink and McCollum for sending the plane, often empty, to get them to and from their homes outside Tallahassee.

Yawn. Sick of Republican hypocrits.

Come on Democrats, is this really what we are going to have to live through for the next year?
She is toxic just like those assets she wants to invest my retirement in.
We need to draft someone, anyone else that is better than this clown.

Boy that one will leave a mark!
She is going to be in serious trouble if this keeps up.
Posted by: Sink sunk? | July 06, 2009 at 11:20 AM
Wait till all the bad decisions she has made come crashing down on her head.
She made terrible decisions in banking, which is why BoA fired her, made terrible decisions as CFO, why would anyone give her a promotion?
She has more baggage than her fancy jets to her fancy condo in the Bahamas!

Fools. What about Chuckles' Lt. Gov. Kottkamp flying himself and his family back and forth between Tallahassee and their home in SW Florida (and his use of state resources to go to a concert in Georgia!)?
What about Chuckles himself jetsetting around with a cadre of FHP body guards to all his Hollywood celebrity events, fundraisers for himself in DC and elsewhere, and let's not forget his Obama Stimulus trip he took down to Naples?
These two creeps' use of state resources for personal and hack political activities far outweighs anything Sink is doing.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that this is only a preview and that "Send me to Tallahassee and the spending spree stops" line is going to be fashioned into a stick that beats her over the head for the next year or so.
She's no watchdog of the taxpayers money and she won't be elected Governor.

Republicans are using my money to pay 11:51 and his fellow trolls to try to whip this into an issue! More Republicans have used those planes than Democrats. They call this strategy?
This is ridiculous!

Really just who do you paid republican operatives think are buying into this "its them not us" stuff?
Posted by: I am insulted by these far right attacks pretending Republicans are "clean" on this issue | July 06, 2009 at 12:47 PM
They DO know that McCollum is in trouble for the same issue, right?
This is pretty poorly made...wonder whose 8th grade A/V project this was.

Both Sink and McCollum doing the same thing with state planes.
Posted by: Both Sink and McCollum doing the same thing with state planes. | July 06, 2009 at 01:03 PM
This may be why Kottkamp is laying low, he'll get slaughtered by the same issue during a campaign. Paid Democratic operatives: 12:47, 12:20, 11:29 and others, don't act so indignant, Democrats will produce the same drivel against Republicans in short order.
Obama ran a campaign, much like Jimmy Carter without saying much of anything. McCain ran a campaign like Dole, lifeless and disorganized. Crist pretended he was Bush
There will be nothing of substance said for the next 14 or 15 months. Neither McCollum or Sink have much in the way of accomplishments to tout, so this is what we will get.

I can believe that this is what she is doing with MY tax dollars.
I voted for her in 2006, I see now that was a mistake, one I won't make again.

Gator(R) sounds more like that "paid operative" McToady Norquista with evey post. Often lately the venom seeps through the genteel bleating of the "moderate" talking points. Hmmm.

1:33 - Mr. Repiggie is wearing me down.
Actually, seemed like my post implied poor behavior by both parties, but I guess in order to avoid receiving the dreaded 'McToady Norquista' or worse yet be accused of being paid to write this drivel, I must avoid criticizing anything Democrats do altogether.
Democrats are wonderful people; no Democrat has ever cheated on his or her spouse; no Democrat has ever taken a political contribution from an unsavory character or country; all Democrats pay their taxes and are proud to do so; only children raised by Democrats grow up to be decent and kind human beings; no Democrats are racist, homophobic, selfish, or otherwise unpleasant human beings; and most important of all, no Democratic position on anything is wrong; actually, that is by definition. Like Mary Poppins, they are practically perfect in every way.

Cliff Stearns said we should get a piece of any company we give stimulus $$$ to and that's why he would vote against Bush and the Rs stimulus, why did he vote against Obama and the Ds stimulus?
He realized his call for socialism was against national party wishes as per Heritage foundations orders.
Why do Republicans hate the working class so much?

There are moderates in the (R) party even though mostly silent for fear of being tossed by a far right wingnut.

Free markets are better than the opposite: Slave markets. And free markets mean no interference from Democratic Socialist, but alas--we can't seem to have truly free market because of democrats in congress mandating this and mandating that...

free markets work best and you are right when you have gov't giving out handouts with all types of conditions. History as a guide: free market entrepreneurs succeed and are efficient and create wealth for everyone; the policial entrepreneurs seek subsidies, are inefficient, and go bankrupt.
free market without gov't means efficiency and best practices.
Free markets rock

I'll tell you when moron,
Just after WW2 the Democrats gave to returning military personal a generous benefits package that included;
subsidized home loans and
paid college tuition that included pay while attending school.
My father went to college when he came back from Okinawa and also bought his first house and went on to work on the staff at Pontiac accruing a nice benefits package.
My father-in-law also went to college using the GI bill and bought his first house as well as go on to work at NASA as an engineer.
The good old days when workers and middle class were one and the same.
Now this new crowd that has taken over
the Republican ask for, rather demand business be completely uncontrolled while at the same time demanding that "we the people" are controlled more stringently.
This Country has never done better then with a strong middle class,Reagan/bush policies decimated the middle class.
*look it up*
What ever happened to working middle class that I grew up with?
We the workers no longer are as important as corporations and the ultra wealthy.
Posted by: freedom for business only | July 06, 2009 at 05:53 PM
I have to differ,take medicare,administration costs and 3-4%
most other private insurance companies have administration costs in the range of 30-40% in some cases.
Don't try that Heritage Foundation Claim
either, overall costs is the only way to count this.
The Heritage Foundation which has been quoted many times by other conservative organizations want us to believe that many private insurance holders have no claims and want to count these lack of claims to show a per person cost as less then medicare's
This is not what is at Issue, its total cost of percentage of health care costs versus total gross cost.
Posted by: big ed | July 06, 2009 at 06:06 PM
I noticed that when Heritage foundation Center for Health Policy Studies Robert Moffitt testified to the House education and labor comm he did not use the foundry's Myth and screwy mythology about private insurance administration costs being far less then Medicare, why? He was under oath.
Moffitt had as much time as he wanted,he was well prepared and had assistants with him,he did not testify that medicare administration costs were higher as his employer claimed because its a lie.I am glad the democrats gave him this opportunity to testify,I hope the extremists shut up now and quit with the lies.

I LOVE IT. A very creative ad.
Alex Sink is toast. Democrats need a new candidate bad or it will be over before 2010.

It's a parody, so it's fair use.

Bill McCollum used the state plane for state business travel.
CFO Alex Sink used it for state and personal travel. It's time we ditch this idiot and get a new candidate. She is damage goods and the Bank of America ads won't even appear until 2010.
