FlaDems outraise RPOF

Here's a switch: The Florida Democratic party outraised the state GOP in the three months that ended June 30, $1.19-million to $1.16. That's the first time that's happened in a second quarter since 1996, when the Division of Elections started putting the records online.

Both parties still spent more than they took in (including $250,000 in American Express charges the RPOF), though the GOP's numbers included $400,000 transferred to its federal account.

Democrats counted 1,740 donations and Republicans 224. The Democrats' biggest single donor was  Charles Brink of Tampa, co-founder of the Mona Vie drink company who gave $100,000, and the DNC gave the state party $76,000. The Republicans' biggest single donor was TECO, which gave $70,000.

On3PR has again put together a handy spread sheet of all the state candidates' campaign finance numbers.

With RPOF expelling blacks like Deon long, small wonder!

Of course they're going to outraise the RPOF.

Who in their right mind would give money to an outfit whose chairman jetsets all over the state and the country in a private jet, treats himself and his family to spa treatments at the Ritz, and stays in the presidential suite of whatever 5-star hotel he's staying in? Who in the hell would want to see their money pilfered away on that?

And, what self-respecting Republican would give money to a party that has become nothing more than an extension of the Charlie Crist campaign?

JIM GREER HAS GOT TO GO.

$250,000 in Amex charges, eh?

Why doesn't Greer want to allow an audit? It seems Charlie's boy may have something to hide.

When Jim Greer goes we will send money.

What the RPOF ought to do is give "reward points" to donors. They can use the millions of points they've accumulated on their American Express account to reward their donors. Contribute $1,000, get a food processor. Contribute $10,000, bet a Bose Radio.

I love the hate, sound like an oxymoron?
No sounds like Oxycontin to Limbaugh!
We love your leader's,best thing ever happen for us and think, they pay people to come on here and bash themselves!!!

The FDP is not any better than RPOF--how in the heck did they spend that much in one quarter! Look at it--$485,000 in salary/taxes/benefits in one quarter. That's a $4 million overhead per election cycle before the first dime is spent on actual campaigns!! No wonder people don't give to parties anymore!!

Well at least they have started detailing all their AMEX charges under the other expenses on the Div of Elections website. I guess the call for audits have changed things.

It looks like of that 250K, 182K was for one of their quarterly meetings in Orlando. Everything else on the Amex looks like small stuff.

Man, RPOF spends too much money on their RECs and grassroots in the off-year. Maybe they should stockpile more and spend the money for winning elections next year.

Gov. Crist did what the Dems could never do......destroy the Republican Party.

It will be amusing to watch all of the Republican sheep, who moan about how much they dislike Crist, vote for him anyway in the general election.

First off, Deon Long is a mental patient who held a non-party sponsored event and had the hotel bill the RPOF for 20k. He's a crook.

Secondly, It's hard for Greer to raise it when he's so busy spending it.

The whiners we were warned about are here!
Now how do we shut them up?

Democrat's use of plane prompts GOP-Dorworth, Crisafulli, Horner and Hudson to call for probe: http://bit.ly/17aNi

Greer is a self-serving; ex-felon who is stealing money from the till.
Now he's engaged in a bloody party purge of all those opposed to him.
Deon Long is a great GOP leader and one of many who has directly challenged Greer.
Removing a black GOP leader is probably the dumbest move Greer can make.
But then again, look at his morbidly obese staff led by the redneck Delmar.
Out they go.

Rovian tactics are obvious to most, they have been causing unwanted blow backs to the majority but of course the extremists are "energized".LOL

I am sorry but the most telling tale in ALL of this is: Democrats counted 1,740 donations and Republicans 224.

Both parties can tout all of the dollars that they want but the true marker is that the DEMs had over 1,500 MORE DONORS than the REPs......that is what is going to translate into votes in 2010........if only the DEMs can come up with quality candidates the state will move back to normal instead of farther right with Ronda Storms style religious wackjobs.

When Bush had more money is his campaign war chest this was paraded as "proof" of how badly we all wanted Bush.
It sux that all the tactic's have beat to death not so long ago, most of us remember them.
The extremists know they MUST divert attention away from their guy's lack of monetary support from John Q Public.
Too bad,it's just to soon since Rove used up all the "good" ones.
The reason the Dems can wine and dine? They have support from us,the many, the middle class.
If your "little guy" had money,he would be able to spend it and most of all,he WOULD spend it!

HAHAHA Greer is the gift that keeps on giving. Every time he's mentioned in the media or otherwise opens his fat mouth, it exposes him and Chuckles the Clown as the menaces that they both are, and people get more and more disgusted with them as they gravitate toward Rubio.

While I personally despise Greer, I think he's the best thing that ever happened to Rubio. He's the quintessential fat party boss who abuses his power for the benefit of the establishment candidate. Rubio doesn't even need to do or say anything, and Greer and his fat minions continue making caricatures of themselves.

Once Chuckles is out of the political scene, we'll be rid of all these clowns.

The challenge to the Republicans who whine about Crist is if he beats Rubio do they vote for him for political expediency or stay home and stand on principle.

I live in a world where people actually think Deon Long is legit? Deon did nothing for Republican candidates last year except stand on the sidelines and critisize. That is all he's good for. Well, that and racking up thousands of dollars worth of bills and billing the party... yeah, real standup guy there.

Get a clue. Yes Greer sucks but Deon sucks harder and there's no way to change that reality.

Greer has got to go or the neo-con corporatist party will. On 2nd thought maybe having Greer around a little longer will be just fine, especially if he will take Crist with him.

When I was doing extensive research in the Division of Elections when Dorothy Glisson was the chief of the division back in the 1980s, my recollection from my research is that the RPOF ALWAYS beat the FL Demos in raising green.

If I'm wrong, please correct or refresh my memory. Thanks.

The RPOF outraised by far even when the Demos controlled the House and Senate -- well, sort of for the Senate with Sen. Dempsey Barron running the place almost single-handedly for how many years?

Check out the RPOF expenditures.

To: Dave | July 11, 2009 at 12:34 PM:

With the passage of the federal Civil Rights and Voting Rights legislation of circa 1964-1966, white Democrats who were clearly bigoted against those of African [and other non-Northern European] descent began leaving the Democratic Party to join the Republican Party -- the "party of Lincoln".

Strange how the political changed about one hundred years after President Lincoln's assassination.

A good number of those bigots then are still alive now and still bigots. Likewise with their children and grandchildren given how they were raised. Prejudice is so difficult to defeat.

Note the level of hate targeted at President Obama. The racists are simply "freaking out".

Questions:

Is racism more public since November 2008?

Is racism more strident since November 2008?

Is racism less strident since November 2008?

Any answers or opinions?

The repiggies have allowed the denizens of Teabagistan to indulge in the most disgusting sort of racism that we have seen since before 1960.

Intelligent non-racists have fled the repiggie ranks.

Hey there "how'bout",how ya been?
I see we have a new foil hat extremist with yet another link to extremist talking points.I noticed he gets over whelmed rather easily.Nice talking to you have a good day buddy!

How am I going to pay for my morning cup of Joe at the Atlanta Bread Company?

JIm please go. I wont fire you but please go. it is time....

Lots more money for GOP though through 527's + RNC + RPOF

The Repiggie She-Troll gets all her news from Air America, WMNF and Media Matters. Another brain dead lib.

The Republican Party is the Party of Stupid.

You can't fix Stupid.

Listen since 1996 the GOP has owned this state and you keep what you kill..It really doesnt matter about the legislature since its so gerrymandered the Dems could not touch the majority ..so right wing world continues its sorta like Iran..Crist will sweep cause of his sun tan but the remaining statewide races go Dem the FGOP is gonna have trouble raising money..Unless the Const amendmendment passes..its business as unusual in the legislature..

The current state party leader has done so much more to hurt the party than any elected official ever came close to doing.

Rockabilly is a talk radio twerp who is obsessed with conspiracy theories hatched by the non-educated paranoids on that medium.

If this paper wasn't biased they wouldn't allow posts like this one,its obvious the purpose of the story has an agenda.

Obviously the donors have moved their money away from Greer and the party. Can't wait until 527s have to report again

you know after hearing so much about media matters from billy o and Boortz i went on their website, they posts quotes and transcripts.
It was not what I thought it was listening to bill and boortz.
If they hear what they think is a lie they will post the transcript so noting can be taken out of context, you know like hannity does with his partial sentences but entire transcripts. Then they show why they think its a lie and cite there proof.
Its a novel idea, you know journalism, its quite different then commentating, which you need no proof of anything.
many don't know that fox news broadcast is 68 percent opinion, not fact based and that's why Media matters has so much material.
I strongly suggest go on media matters site, you will see all they do is look for conservative bias and lies, but rather then just proclaim bias and lies then repeat that hundreds of times, they show you and cite their work.

Run Marco Run we need you now more than ever. Crist is nothing more than an empty suit with a tan. He is a good buddy of Obama and loves his pork filled stimulus spending package and Cap & Trade tax. Does that sound like Crist is a republican? Crist is afraid to be on the same stage with Marco and as time goes on Crist's tan is starting to fade with the failing so called stimulus pork he supports
