House tribunal on Sansom could begin late this month
Rep. Bill Galvano said this evening that he has not set a date but wants the hearings on Ray Sansom to begin by late this month.
The hearings are called after special investigator Steve Kahn found there is probable cause Sansom, R-Destin, broke House rules and damaged public confidence in the institution through his dealings with Northwest Florida State College. Galvano, R-Bradenton, will chair the panel.

Get it over with already! This clown needs to go!

Sansom will resign before the hearings..so the question will be...do they still hold the hearings?
Posted by: concerned citizen | July 02, 2009 at 07:55 AM
concerned citizen - hopefully he resigns before and tries to save some face for the republican party... of course, the naysayers here will jump all over it - but I point to Siplin and the opportunity he was provided in defending himself...
However, in this case, the evidence is pretty bad against him... and hopefully the RPOF is planning a little sit-down with him to encourage his departure... and if he refuses, come out with a request that he leave in the media...
Allow him to save face, but if he refuses, smack him down... if he agrees, it must be with the caveat that he openly states that "after speaking with leadership, it has been determined that for the betterment of the party, I am stepping down... blah blah blah... so I can attend to my family and this important legal issue... blah blah blah, and go on a hike... blah blah blah"
If Greer and others cannot see that this is what needs to happen, then the party as a whole will suffer...

Oh come on now, thank Susan Smith for bringing the complaint that brought about this action.
Sansom is still defending his actions and Odom is as arrogant as ever but to you guys that a trait to be admired isn't it.
I notice none of you way over to the right ever say anything about Hansen.
Very interesting!

8:54: I've seen many comments on Hansen, Ward and other staff on the issue from both sides. Too many in my opionion - Legislators are where the buck stops, not staff. Some seem informed, some not. Not sure how you missed them.

I do agree gator, the person ultimately responsible is indeed the "Boss".
The primary reason I say Hansen is he was in the middle of all this, his name, fingerprints are all over several of the documents.
Cretul now being "Boss",in my opinion should have at least appeared to have cleaned house rather then the path he took.Cretul came out defensive, very bad decision. What did Cretul do instead of cleaning house (pun intended)? He kept Hansen on as his own chief of staff, that's right leave the same guy in the same office that had to know how corrupt all this was and WHY? Either Larry Cretul is in way over his head as many say,or so Hansen could cover his own tracks.
In my opinion, the decision that Larry Cretul made to keep Hansen in his same position, borders on idiocy(for Cretul and the entire house).

After thinking a bit more about this I want to say that this is not how one of the old school Republicans would have handled this.
Even Newt Gingrich was eased out because of his indiscretions back in the day.
In the party we have today? He would have been exonerated and any further attacks would have been dismissed as "lefty bias" and then the fringe news would have covered some Democrat miss doing from years ago, maybe talk about Pelosi or Harry Reid,it seems nothing will get the "base" to forget about a Republican crime more then just the mention of Reid or Pelosi.
You know what I am talking about!

Why hasn't Bill McCollum and the Republican Party given back the million dollars that Jay Odom gave them?
Anyone, including Bill McCollum, who received money from Odom needs to give it back - or donate it to charity.

Staff members like Hansen and Ward will be safe as long as they keep their mouths shut. They undoubtedly have enough dirt on the rest of the House to bury them, this is their insurance.

By "old school Republicans" do you mean the ones who impeached Clinton while toe-tapping their way through men's restrooms? or the ones who were wheeling and dealing with Jack Abramoff and the Indian tribes while lecturing the rest of us on the evils of gambling? or maybe it's the ones who sold weapons to Iran so they could fight an illegal war in Central America?
Get a clue...Those "old school Republicans" were no different from the ones today.

I thought it was Clinton screwing the Indian Tribes, but could be faulty memory.
Look, they all have skeletons. Bob Graham, who I admired as a Governor, and seems an honorable man, made hundreds of thousands on farming subsidies that he voted on.
Democrats will have more now because they are in power and money talks. Not defending Republicans, the toe-tappers deserve to be gone, and they are, at least the Republicans are.
You can pick and chose individuals on either side all you want, both parties have them and it is sickening. Barnie Frank for gods sake had an affair with an intern and nothing happened. The South Carolina Governor should be gone and likely will be.

Gator(R)- it's refreshing to actually read things from you as they are stated factually and without all the pettiness that seems to go along with so many. Why everyone seems to forget that this runs rampant on both sides of the political fence is amusing. However, until people wake up and start taking action themselves by actively voting OUT each of these individuals, we're going to keep hearing the same worn out stories over and over again...

None of you get it! There is no differences between the R's and the D's.
These dirtbags are professional politicians. They are Dems when the Dems are electable and they are Reps when the Reps are!
Is that too difficult for you blogsters to understand?
Answer me this why would there be an editorial concerning Crist becoming a Democrat if he is a Republican?
You people are more suited to be slobbering on the Michael Jackson blog and blogging how great this overrated skin bleaching pervert was! than this blog.
Cheers -
