Miami mayor Alvarez endorses Crist
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez has endorsed Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate, the second prominent Miami-area endorsement for the governor in a week.
“Gov. Crist has demonstrated his commitment to conservative values that hold government accountable and keep more money in the pockets of hardworking Floridians. He is the common sense conservative leader we need in Washington, and I am proud to lend my help to his campaign.”
Last week, U.S. Reps. Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart endorsed Crist over fellow Miami Republican Marco Rubio.

Crist, in comparison with the rest of his party, is a moderate, and would be OK as a Senator. The problem? He's in the wrong party, and this nation needs a fifty-ninth Democrat in the Senate

“Governor Crist has demonstrated his commitment to underachievement that holds government to the lowest possible level of accountability and puts more taxpayer money in the pockets of special interest contributors. He is the closet-gay, useless, empty suit minion we need more of in Washington, and I am proud to end my career by helping his campaign.”

Anyone who knows anything about Miami-Dade politics knows that this comes as no surprise. Alvarez is part of the CRIST-DIAZBALART-VILLALOBOS-PLANAS-LLORENTE-GREER-CURBELO-CUSTIN network of RINO crap.
Want proof? Look at all their fundraising reports and see how most of them contribute to one another and share the same donors and even the same campaign treasurer.
Alvarez is no more a Republican than Charlie Crist is, and frankly, everyone else on that group. The Diaz-Balarts have been getting scored by their old Cuban constituents. The wrath against Alvarez will be worse, especially since he's not as well liked as his fellow RINO the Diaz-Balarts.
For a complete list of current and forthcoming Charlie Crist endorsements from Miami-Dade County, refer to the list of Alex Villalobos endorsements from 2006.

"Governor Crist has demonstrated his commitment to conservative values"
Wrong Mayor Alvarez, here is his record of "conservative" values:
In one of his first acts as governor in Jan of 2007, Charlie Crist dismissed all but one of the "greatest governor in the country" appointments, though he had been governor for less than 2 weeks.
Gov. Crist then immediately pursued restoring convicted felons rights to vote (RCR) against the legal advice of the Attorney General.
Crist extended voting hours during the 2008 Presidential election which permitted 5,000 more Democrats to vote per hour.
Gov. Crist has expanded gambling in the state of Florida at a rate never witnessed before, and was rebuked by the Florida Supreme Court for violating the Florida Constitution for cicumventing the Florida legislature.
Crist has publicly expressed his support for tax payer funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research which destroys innocent human life, which is not only immoral but scientifically does not work, and has yet to yield one success.
For political gain, Gov. Crist has esentially destroyed and socialized the insurance industry in Florida leaving property owners and the Florida taxpayers at a huge financial risk.
The governor has rarely been at work in Tallahassee but been consumed with campaigning for VEEP and now the U.S. Senate since taking office.
Crist has publicly supported, campaigned and and embraced
Pres. Obama's disastrous "stimulus" package loaded with trillions of pork barrel spending which will not create jobs or boost the economy in our state or at the national level. Crist supported this though NOT ONE Republican in Congress from Florida voted for it.
Gov. Crist 100% embraces the false "science" of Global Warming even attending the CLINTON GLOBLAL INITIATIVE in N.Y. with Bill Clinton Al Gore, Gov. Schwarzennegar, Brad Pitt, Ted Turner etc.
Crist also supports Cap and Trade policies which will harm small businesses in Florida with huge costs which will be passed on to the consumer but not effect lowering the temperature.
Less than 2 weeks ago, Gov. Crist was (again) smacked down by the Florida Supreme Court
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/opinion/orl-edped-crist-judges-diversity-07070809jul08,0,4672645.story
for violating the Florida Consitution by not appointing a judge to the bench whose names were selected by HIS hand picked J.N.C.
Gov. Crist has another fundraiser in N.Y. this week at the home of a N.Y. City Real Housewive, with the thrice married gambling mogul Donald Trump as a host.
Under Gov. Crist's "conservative" leadership, FLORIDA lost the Presidential election to the Democrats for the first time since 1976.
"Conservative" Mayor Alvarez?
These actions are not Republican or conservative. Charlie Crist has governed as a Democrat.

To the person who wrote that wonderful dissertation at 12:21pm, I am proud to call you friend.
As for Alvarez, what has he done while in office? Has he championed anything? I think he's about as empty suited as that clown he's endorsing now. RINOs are absolutely useless.

Oh by the way, my friend at 12:21, you forgot to mention this biggy: He nominated an ultra-liberal, ACLU-backed judge to the Supreme Court. There, that completes your list.
CHUCKLES, YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. I RUE THE DAY I EVER VOTED FOR YOU IN THE PAST.

Oops! I knew I would miss something. Thank you for pointing that out sir.
Yes, the N.R.A. and the Republican legal community in FL was not happy with that liberal Democrat appointment to the Florida Supreme Court made by Gov. Crist.

Elected officials should not be allowed to endorse candidates.
They were elected to represent their constituents and
not misuse their offices in this manner.

CB you don't fool anyone. Crist is NO COnservative. Crist is a "Cristite". He is his own party. He is the only party to which he is loyal. And Greer is the Chairman of that party.

What is it going to take for the Florida voters to realize
that sending the worse Governor we have ever had to
Washington will make us look like a bunch of idiots.
Don't let them buy another election.
Charlie makes Geo. W. Bush look like Einstein.

Do we really live in a democracy?
Posted by: democracy? | July 13, 2009 at 03:02 PM
this is the same Carlos Alvarez who's going to jack up taxes (tomorrow) during the worst recession ever!
this comes on the heels of the Miami-Dade Commission's vote last week to finalize the Marlins stadium which will cost taxpayers $650 million dollars!!! (the original estimate was in the $450 million range just a year ago).
Alvarez makes about $250K per year plus his police pension. Miami-Dade has gobs of bureaucrats making over $200K. No wonder the condo crisis has gutted the economy there. The governmental corruption is unbelievable.
Just glad I don't live there and don't pay these jokers a penny in tax!
They don't call it a banana republic for nothing!
Can't we send all these guys back to the island?

Chuck, as Florida’s worst Gover-NOT ever, does not deserve the honor of serving as our Senator. Neither does Meek, a member of the worst Congress in our History, for that matter.
If either of those two unaccomplished career hacks makes it to DC, we’ll never get rid of them, and we’ll regret it for ever…
On the other hand, we’ll validate our nickname; Floriduuuh!

The Rubio supporters in this blog are whistling past the graveyard.
Alvarez and Mario Diaz-Balart are two of the most popular Cuban American politicos in South Florida.
This means Rubio does not even have the undivided Cuban Republican vote.
Rubio may gain something by running -- but it will not be a senate seat.

For "in the know" Hers is what everyone knows, those Cubans that you mentioned, while not perfect, are not criminal scumsucking unethical pigs like the ones you endorse. They represent hard working smart people of the Cuban community. They are respected. Your version of being "in the know" is probably derived from your desire to keep feathering your nests along with the political hacks that you endorse.

Sources Say Rubio Reconsidering Senate Race
Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Florida. Two Republican sources said today that even as former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio campaigns for retiring GOP Sen. Mel Martinez's Senate seat, he has been calling around to top Republican donors and activists in the state to discuss the idea of switching from the Senate primary against GOP Gov. Charlie Crist and into the open-seat race for attorney general, where a serious Republican candidate has yet to emerge.
