Sen. Martinez says he'll support Sotomayor
U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez's support of Sonia Sotomayor was never in much doubt, but he made it clear today that he will vote to confirm her to the Supreme Court.
"Given her judicial record, and her testimony this week, it is my determination that Judge Sotomayor is well-qualified to serve as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court," he said in a statement. Judge Sotomayor is knowledgeable of the law, would be a fair and impartial judge, and seems to have a good understanding of the limited role the judiciary plays in our democracy.
"Judge Sotomayor’s rise to the Supreme Court is testimony to the fact that the American dream continues to be attainable. As an Hispanic American, I take great pride in Judge Sotomayor’s historic achievement. Given her qualifications and testimony this week, I intend to vote in favor of her confirmation."

Those aging repiggie racists in the Senate certainly embarrassed themselves this week.
Those old guys have trouble with any smart and capable woman in any position of authority, particularly if she is non-white, and also if she is over 35 years of age.

speaking of that "how 'bout...",
u been following that "C-street" thing
u know, the ueber-christian community of adulterers, cornholers and molesters masquerading as repiglican legislators in DC?
the putrid scent or repiglikan sex scandal is oozing out of every door and window of that place these days, with revelation after revelation of sexual misadventures by the "moral majority" butt-lickers!!
"THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT", ken frishman, "animal house"

Me, I have been following the breaking story on the C-Street holy rollers,
who seem to have no problem with chasing skirts while still in their "Christian" marriages.
I suppose that once one is saved, one is allowed to do virtually anything, as long as one publicly gives lip service (no pun intended) to the ideals of the religion.
For those of you who may not know, the C-Street dorm is
a holy roller rooming house for "Defenders of Traditional
Marriage" who seem to have a bit of a problem keeping "it" in their pants when away from "the little woman."
Current inmates include Rep. Pickering of Mississippi,
whose wife has just filed an alienation of affection lawsuit
against Pickering's mistress of over 10 years. Also bunking out is the notorious boinking Senator John Ensign
of Nevada, the "fiscally responsible" guardian of the taxpayer, who just shelled out nearly a 100 grand to buy the silence of his girlfriend's husband.
And let's not forget a recent graduate of the C-Street Academy for Philanderers, Gov. Mark Sanford of South
Carolina, who claims to be currently on a trip with his wife. Maybe that's true; who knows?
The pastor/counselor of this little waystation for straying politicians and their lobbyist co-adulterers is Doug Coe, a holy roller who "advocates the seizing of government in order to advance the evangelical kingdom of God."
Coe is known for counseling an adulterous repiggie House member to be patient with his complaining wife, saying that she is probably possessed by demons.
It is incredible.
You just can't make up stuff this good.

and so far, thats only the STRAIGHT REPUKELIKAN SEX we know about...
waiting for the homo-, pedeo- and animal-sex stories to begin seeping soon!
wonder how many of the current residents and alumni had a "time" with rev. jerry?
thats exactly what happens when you put all those deeply-closeted homosexual repukelikan "devout christian boys" together, you know.

STOP THE PRESSES; MEL SUPPORTS SOTOMAYOR!

Me (2:09),
You are a freaking riot!
Have you been to Key West? San Fran, NYC or any of the Gay Zones in every city. Have you seen the freak show that goes on at their parades?
I seriously doubt these people vote for Republicans.
Make a big deal about a few hypocrites on the Right, yet ignore what is accepted as normal by the likes of you....

In the meantime, the repiggies, adulterers included, are getting their moral panties in a twist over Judge Sotomayor.
I guess she just doesn't have that "hot babe" thing that the middle-aged repiggie guys are looking for, as far as women in public life are concerned.

He can support a left wing for the Supreme court because she is hispanic but not a conservative Hispanic Republican for Senate.

Right wing = hypocrite.
Duh...
Posted by: how 'bout them repiggies | July 17, 2009 at 02:42 PM
ahhhhhh, "duh"...
the usual eight-year-old response:
"look what "they're" doing!"
the repukelikans in question have lied to everyone, including themselves, about their moral stance (wide!) and principles and still you want to find something to say about other people instead of admitting you have been LIED TO OVER AND OVER AGAIN and have come back each and every time...
even a dog has enough sense to know not to come back after repeated whippings!!!!
YOU ARE DUMBER THAN A DOG, JERK!!

So sad, Mel chooses the tribe over good public policy. What a sad end to a disappointing senate career...

No, Mel isn't running for re-election. He doesnt have to bow down to the wingnuts controlling the party anymore. Judge Sotomayor acquitted herself well and will make a good justice. Why wouldnt he vote for her? Its not like Obama is going to appoint a right wing corporatist like Alito or Roberts.

George - Sen. Martinez shouldn't vote for Judge Sotomayor because any person who thinks its okay to discriminate against an American just because another American didn't do as well on a job exam, should never be a judge. We get it, life sucked for non-whites many years ago. But do you honestly think healing wounds from the past requires that we create new ones today? Please explain what moral or legal concept requires that we deny job promotions to people who earned them, just because some other guy didn't do as well on a test? How would you feel if you were denied a job by Judge Sotomayor because no one else passed a test that you did?
Posted by: Blue Lizard | July 17, 2009 at 10:59 PM
Mr Blue, too much Fox news. Judge Sotomayor followed established precedent in joining others judges in upholding the city's position. She didnt deny anyone anything. The Supreme court later changed how these cases are decided and the firemen won. The system worked for them, so why so angry? As for the test, I don't know enough about it to judge its fairness. The city thought it was unfair because the test results counted much more than 25% in the promotion selection process which is not the norm. I think she will be better than at least 5 justices currently serving. She certainly is qualified.
