Dems launch robocalls against Rep. Bill Young
UPDATE: Young replies, "This is more of the typical creative trash the DCCC puts out against Republicans. Right now I'm pretty busy reading the three separate bills containing 3,000 pages that are being offered by the Democrats in the House, all of which basically put the federal government in charge of America's health program."
-----
Democrats today launched a campaign against U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, accusing him in robocalls to constituents of being a pawn of the health insurance industry.
"This is the DCCC with an important message about your health care," the recorded message says. "Insurance companies are posting record profits while health bills skyrocket. Now they are lining up to stop health care reforms and protect profits. Congressman Bill Young took almost $40,000 from the insurance industry and now he’s trying to block reform … like reducing costs by forcing them to compete and preventing insurance companies from denying you coverage. Call Congressman Young today. Ask him to stop standing up for insurance companies and start standing up for us."
Young is one of 25 Republicans being targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
While it's true he has gotten $38,700 from the insurance industry, Young is hardly among the top recipients, likely because he's a defense appropriator. As this list shows, many Democrats have taken in more, including Florida Reps. Kathy Castor ($39,100) and Suzanne Kosmas ($96,987).
Rep. Henry Waxman, chair of the Energy & Commerce Committee, a major panel that handled health care, took in $121,000. Rep. Charles Rangel, another top Democrat, took in $1.4 million, according to the data, which looks at all years.

If the DCCC wanted to run an effective ad they shouldn't have said "insurance" until the end. I get insurance call all the time. When I heard that word, I hang up.

Left, right, left, right as both parties decend the stairs further into the slop that passes for politics these days. The 3rd's, I's and NOP's would be proud to pass them up if only someone would pay attention to them.
And we wonder why voter turnout is so low.

I support the President and I support health insurance reform. I don't know how Republicans can argue in favor of the status quo of our health insurance system.
I suspect their personal animosity toward the president has warped their judgment.

The Republicans are marginalized. Seventy-five percent of the rank and file are old, white, angry, male, Southerners. As for their "leaders," they have no ideas, only negativity. They are in the pocket of the special interests opposing a public health insurance option.

Young American is cutting an pasting - same exact graph in another comments section.
But that's kind of like the robocalls and Barry "Closet Organizer" Obama's teleprompter.
Without scripted speeches that offer a bunch of words without saying anything, these folks have nothing.

Get the message out DCCC. Republicans love corporations, hate people. they'll tell you any number of lies to get your vote, but once in office, they ALWAYS side with their corporate big money donors against WE THE PEOPLE.

Guess who employs you the people? Yep, that's right, the "rich" people who run small businesses and the "rich" corporations.
Burden us all with more and more debt, to pay for ever-bigger government programs, and businesses will continue going out of business. As a result, unemployment will continue to rise.
That's econ 101 - a course Obama and the Obamacrats apparently skipped.

Apparently the paper has decided that the $188,000 that Ginny Brown-Waite aka kill seniors took isn't important.

Good. Bill Young is reading.
Ask him what medical coverage he has. Ask him about the largest "socialist" medical insurance programs we already have: medicare (for seniors), Tricare (for our military) and the VA.

In 2007 republicans blocked legislation to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Now they are attempting to derail the 'public option' with astroturfing. Town hall meetings have seen health care industry supported outsiders brought in to cause disruptions.
Recently, Congress investigated three insurance companies' performance over a five years period and discovered they had used 'rescission' (canceling policies) in nearly 20,000 cases saving them $300 million dollars. It turns out your risk of being cancelled was elevated by various cancers.
The insurance companies stated they would continue with these practices.
The leading cause of bankruptcy is not credit card debt or large mortgages, but huge bills for health care.
The 'public option' is necessary to rein in insurance companies predatory practices.

I'll vote for Bill Young over any democrat.

Some advice to OlderAmerican, Obama has already taken $350B out of Medicare to help pay for his new healthcare. Where are you going to go for your hip replacement when Medicare is out of funds and can't pay for it. Will Obama pay for it?

All of you who think this is a great deal should read the House Bill. It's posted on the internet. You'll be surprised at what is in it and it will probably change your mind.

Good to learn that a Representative is actually reading the bill!
I hear a lot about medical bills causing bankruptcy. Now, are we to believe that the medical bill is the only bill these unfortunate folks have? I know one of those persons who recently went this route. They decided to have a cancer treatment that was not approved by their insurer and HR 3200 would never have allowed it given the comparative effectiveness language in the bill and the trip to Switzerland. She has outstanding debt on a car, house and credit cards. But somehow it is only the medical debt that counts toward bankruptcy.

Why didn't the DCCC question Nanci Pelosi's acceptance of campaign money from Insurance co's? It's called duplicity and that is what the Dems are all about. Hillary said, "It's patriotic to question the govt". Now we have Dems saying "spy on your neighbors and report them for questioning what we are doing". That's pathetic and hints of Nazism. I do not think you Dems will appreciate living under a Nazi regime.

to Richard:
"Obama has already taken $350B out of Medicare to help pay for his new healthcare."
Newsflash for you Richard: the bills being proposed aren't even out of committee. There is no "new healthcare" yet.
In addition, there has not been any bills removing any money from Medicare. Medicare is exactly the same today as it was when Obama took office.
And if that's not enough, your ignorance goes even deeper. The president does not have the authority to do that even he wanted to. Only Congress can do that.
You know when you have to lie to make your point then you have no point. And you should be ashamed that you aimed your fear-mongering at old people.
Of course, I know better. People like you are shame-less.
