"Boss Greer" accused of party purges
The Republican Liberty Caucus reports that the state GOP's grievance committee has removed caucus chairman Will Pitts of Jacksonville and several other members from their party positions as punishment for, among other thing, attending a Ron Paul rally and cricizing state Republican Chairman Jim Greer, Gov. Charlie Crist and John McCain.
“This is just the latest action in the ongoing ‘Party Purge’,” said grassroots organizer Doug Guetzloe of Orange County, who was banned from participating in party activities until after August 31, 2013. According to Guetzloe, “The reasons for this ‘Party Purge’ are that we have collectively and individually called for a complete audit of the Republican Party of Florida finances, advocated for candidates not favored by party leaders, and because we are members of the Republican Liberty Caucus.”

Jim do a service to the people of Florida: purge them all and then purge yourself.

I notice that the SP Times pays much attention to the State GOP.
How about some balanced reporting on the Democrats?

Eating their own? Who do they think they are, Democrats?
Posted by: Steve | September 08, 2009 at 10:29 AM
Chairman Greer is right on, these people have spent their times making public attacks on the party. The GOP needs people who will help build it not spend their time attacking the leaders. The rank and file sit by and watch this rancorous behavior and scratch their heads. If the RLC wants a democratic control in Florida then that is what they will work to do. Create a socialist agenda for Florida. How about asking the RLC to join the libertarian party?

Is Pitts Black?, didn't RPOF just purge a leading Black Republican in Orlando...whats going on here?
Posted by: is this a Minority Purge by the RPOF | September 08, 2009 at 11:01 AM
Why is anyone surprised?
The GOP will attempt to punish anyone who is smart enough to have a mind of their own and refuse to follow blindly.
They have made so many mistakes and have no one to follow other than Limbaugh, Cheney, Gingrich, Palin, and several other Losers who refuse to realize that they past history and no longer a force in american politics.
Palin deserted her office, limbaugh is a loud mouth pill poppin nothing, Gingrich left office in shame, Cheney
is a self promoting excuse making defender of failure.
Is the GOP in a mess?

The RPOF and county groups have made themselves into little boys' clubs, where no dissent is allowed. Some of these were reasonable, but many cases are no more than "I don't like you." Dems should rejoice; and plenty of reasonable Repubs abandoned these groups in droves. It shows in the decreased registrations, donations and inability to get volunteers during campaigns. So-called leaders are just shooting themselves in the foot.

Ranadall Stevens - How about all the GOP winguts and crazies join the Fascist-Libertarian party and leave the GOP to Crist and Greer. We DEMS want nothing to do with either group of loons!

Greer is nothing more than a political hack and deserves to be voted out of office.
Posted by: tom | September 08, 2009 at 11:31 AM
This only tells one side of the story. These people were banned for attempting to destroy the party from within. They even stated that on many forums.
When will these reporters take the time to actually report the news?
Posted by: GOP Insider | September 08, 2009 at 11:35 AM
Will Pitts compared the GOP to the Nazi Party and said that for "liberty to survive Obama must win," John Stevens said he "hated" the GOP, both tried to use intimidation tactics to disrupt GOP meetings. Guetzloe and Egoroff used spoofing software to make calls look like they were coming from the GOP HQ, AND tried to hijack the party by starting an alternative executive board--even sending out press releases that there was a new chair.
These people are not the average person just disagreeing with the party. These people are doing everything they can to destroy the party!

Hey Pig - How about you and all the Dem winguts and crazies join the Communist party with your buddy Hugo… and leave America to the sane people. We Americans want nothing to do with either group of you loons!

11:41 well I agree with the first part as it applies to Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck etc. their minions wear jackboots and brown shirts and run around like fascists breaking up meetings where people try to learn about the issues.

Fascist-Libertarian is an oxymoron, by the way.
Posted by: Ace | September 08, 2009 at 11:51 AM
I have seen the 100+ grievance filed against Will Pitts and John Charles Stevens. These two were on a mission to blow up the GOP. Stevens JUST became a Republican and has admitted publicly that he has donated to, and greatly admires Ralph Nader. These two are RINOs!
Posted by: Henry Worthington | September 08, 2009 at 11:52 AM
Oh good grief the McCarthyite at 11:45 is trying to start another red scare. Anyone who expresses concern for the well-being of fellow humans as opposed to greed and avarice, has got to be a communist.
Posted by: 11:45 has no decency | September 08, 2009 at 11:54 AM
I somehow got on Will Pitts email list. I get junk email from him accusing George W. Bush of war crimes, and calling for FL to leave the Union. His plan seems to be to take over the Republican Party so he can get us into another civil war. This loser should have been banned for life!
Posted by: Ken | September 08, 2009 at 11:56 AM
11:51 Fascist-Libertarianism is an up and coming faction within the GOP. They espouse the principles of fascism and hide behind the name Libertarian. So in reality there's no more conflict than when the Nazi's called themselves "socialists" when in fact they were right-wingers too.
Posted by: Just Clearin' up a few misconceptions | September 08, 2009 at 11:59 AM
The only person who I think is a bigger liar than Will Pitts is Doug Guetzloe. You either do what they want you to do or they smear your name. I personally think they both have screws loose.
Posted by: MM | September 08, 2009 at 12:00 PM
This decision wasn't a hard one. The RPOF had hundreds of emails and forum posts by John Charles Stevens and Will Pitts stating that they wanted to ruin the Republican Party. Was Greer supposed to sit back and do nothing while these kooks disrupt meetings, intimidate people in the parking lot and call people at home in such a way that their families are scared?
Stevens called a local party chairman screaming so much (over nothing) that his wife had to take their children out of the room. These people are nutcases.

I once had Will Pitts follow me into the parking lot after a Duval Republican meeting. He lectured me about how our troops are "baby killers" and "occupiers." At one point I feared he was going to hit me (and I am a female.) He become so enraged that spit was flying out of his mouth. I have not been back since out of fear for my own safety. Events like what happened to me are the real reason Greer banned him.
Thank you Chairman Greer!

Today’s Democrat Party espouse many of the same principals of the National Socialist American Workers' Party. That is why I propose just changing the name to NAZI.
Before the little tyrant started invading; Liberal's couldn't say enough good things about him. From Hollyweird, to academia, liberals were happy as clams with Hitler.
Charles Limburgh visited him many times and appeared at public events with Hitler touting Socialism's many benefits. Upon return to the US; his run for office was derailed because his love for Hitler.
Facts are facts little piggie. My question to you is; why run away from Hitler now?
Posted by: Just Sayin | September 08, 2009 at 12:24 PM
At the hearing for Will Pitts, the State Committeewoman and an offduty police officer testified to a similar story as the person at 12:13 PM told. Allegedly Pitts tried to strangle the State Committeewoman when she was collecting ballots for the party elections. The offduty cop had to step in.
I think Greer should be fired for going easy on Will Pitts! What kind of message is Greer sending to women when he only slaps someone on the hand who has repeatedly attacked women at Republican meetings. Does this say something about Greer's value system, when he thinks it is worse to badmouth the party than it is to physically attack women?
Posted by: Greer goes easy on person who attacks women? | September 08, 2009 at 12:31 PM
Anyone who has met Will Pitts knows that he is a bully and a liar. He's a cancer that should have been banned for life.

I have personally witnessed Will Pitts and John Stevens go on one of their anti-Republican rants after a Duval REC meeting. I consider both to be very dangerous people. Doug Guetzloe is just a manipulator who is surrounding himself with these out of control loons to cause trouble.

good riddance to bad rubbish

Will Pitts and John Stevens are both buffoons who go to every Republican meeting and yell and scream. They have disrupted many Duval REC meetings, and did the same at a recent Duval YR meeting. They are filled with hate and anger and they should have been removed months ago.

Greer is trying to look like he went light on Guetzloe and Pitts by giving their puppets, Egoroff and Stevens, harsher punishments. What Greer really did was anger his supporters by going light on Guetzloe and Pitts.
Come on Greer, these clowns aren't going to feel like you're being nice. Grow a pair, and do something for the party once instead of for yourself.
Now Greer has positioned himself where everyone will be against him. Nice job!

The city of Jacksonville is better off without Pitts being viewed as creditable. I have never met a man who lies as much as Will Pitts. I often wonder if he believes his own lies or if he just thinks we're too stupid to see through them?
Posted by: jaxrepublican | September 08, 2009 at 05:22 PM
The fact that Guetzloe wasn't banned for life makes me furious with Greer! When he comes back he'll be worse than ever. If these people are harmful to the party, get rid of them for good. Stop trying to play nice. They don't play nice.
I agree with the assessment that Will Pitts is a liar. He even acts like a used car salesman.

Jim Greer is a disgrace.
He should be ousted.
Posted by: Ashamed of Greer | September 08, 2009 at 06:52 PM
Jim Greer hates America.
Eliminating people that have dissenting opinions is what some fascist leader from Germany did. If this isn't fixed ASAP I will withdraw my support from the GOP and will do everything in my power to see that Jim is removed
Posted by: MyOwnBuzz | September 08, 2009 at 07:14 PM
These people were not removed for having "dissenting opinions." They were removed for having destructive behavior. There is a huge difference. If these people just disagreed with the party it would be one thing. The people removed actually used intimidation methods to make their point. That is crossing the line, and they should have been given the boot.
Posted by: These people wanted to destroy, not just disagree with, the party | September 08, 2009 at 07:39 PM
Why in the world does anyone put any credence in what Doug Guetzloe has to say. The boy is a convicted liar and will do anything to get his name in the newspaper. He thinks it gives him credibility.
Posted by: William Norris | September 08, 2009 at 09:49 PM
According to the grievance letter sent by recipient John Stevens to www.fontcraft.com, Stevens and Will Pitts were removed for actively supporting a 3rd party candidate during the general election. I don't blame Greer for removing these clowns!

These people will do or say anything anything to hold onto their perceived positions of power. There are about 10 people who are stirring up all of this dissention within the state. Becky Reichenberg, Jon Woodard, Brian Ianucci, John McGowan, Mallory Foster "Shooter McGavin." If you have ever met will Pitts or John Stevens, they are 2 of the most respectful and honorable people I have met. They never yell or insult others even when they are being insulted. These stories of threats in the parking lot are the same tactic that those in the SJREC have used numerous times, accusing people of threatening them during some encounter that never occured. Becky Reichenberg and the off duty officer were stuffing the ballot box during the REC elections and were caught red handed. I saw what happened, Reichenberg was collecting ballots and had came over to the off duty officer and he pulled a pocketful of post it note ballots and stuffed them in the ballot box. Pitts caught him and asked what he was doing, he said he had the ballots of those who had left. Commissioner Ken Bryan, former Federal Agent saw it as well. He said he was never coming back to the SJREC becuase of the corruption he witnessed.

People like George Bush and John McCain should be in jail cells for what they helped do to this country and for murdering people in the middle east. Jim Greer should be in a jail cell for supporting those criminals. By supporting John McCain in the 2008 election, the republicans were antifreedom and supporting mass murders. If these are the only things republicans are opened to supporting, they deserve to have their party destroyed. I admire people like Nick for standing up to these antifreedom and antipeace neocons. There were a couple posts telling the RLC to support the Libertarian party instead. You would like that wouldn't you? You probably know that the elections and media are rigged against third parties, so that's probably why you want that.

I've been a Republican all my life and there has never been a more Republican person than Doug Guetzloe.
He's been a Republican's Republican.
From Teen Age Republicans to date - no one is more Republican than Doug Guetzloe.
If you just take the $30 billion or more that his Ax the Tax group has defeated - he's done more than all his detractors put together.
Greer is a mental midget and a loser.
This little Party Purge action just makes Guetzloe even more powerful - for the people!

and like all Republicans he has a zero tolerance policy on dissent. He behaves as if he personally owns the copyright to the name Republican and because of the party rule changes he, in effect, does. No matter what you think of democrats or others there is no doubt that the RPOF wants your money, your vote, and then to keep your opinions to yourself.
