The next Kennedy generation to challenge Alex Sink?

Shriver There's been lots of Buzz lately about Anthony Kennedy Shriver of Miami - son of Sargent and Eunice, brother of Maria - running for Florida governor. We haven't heard back from him, but it sounds like he is very seriously looking at the race. Perennially rumored to be on the verge of running for statewide office, Shriver leads Best Buddies International, a charity that helps intellectually disabled people.

What's not clear is whether there's much reason to see him as a serious threat to frontrunner Alex Sink. If Caroline Kennedy couldn't get anywhere in her foray into New York politics, why would a more obscure Kennedy fare much better in a race with a well-funded and overwhelming frontrunner?

He needs to run for CFO

THE WHITE HOUSE - Despite the President's promise of a swift and decisive victory, Obama's War on Fox News has developed all signs of an unwinnable quagmire, making the White House even more isolated in its unilateral attempts to crush the growing media insurgency. As the war continues to grind on for a second month, public opinion is shifting towards a quick and complete withdrawal. While many observers still agree that the "War on Limbaugh" is a "just and necessary war," even the former supporters of the war effort are now labeling the War on Fox an "unnecessary war of choice" and claim that the cable channel had nothing to do with Obama's falling approval numbers.

Some say that the general in charge, Anita Dunn, greatly underestimated the power of fiery critic Glenn "Muqtada" Beck and his band of radical followers, who have inflicted heavy casualties on White House forces.

The war has recently passed an ugly milestone as Obama's hand-picked czar Van Jones exploded in the middle of the battlefield littered with pencils, notebooks, blackberries, and media tags, sending shockwaves of terror through the ranks of reporters in the service of the administration.

Accusations of war crimes continue to surface, the most recent war atrocity being Katie Couric's interview with Glenn Beck, after which the prominent Fox News commentator was found outside the CBS studios disoriented, with plucked eyebrows, and a coveted jar of M&Ms stolen from his pocket.
While the notorious Guantanamo Bay prison is being shut down, President Obama is rumored to be in talks with Fidel Castro to use the East German political prison on Cuba's Isle of Pines as a secret detention center for the "enemy commentators." However, the White House's unilateral decision to classify all Fox News journalists as "enemy commentators" has been roundly criticized by human rights organizations, who maintain they should be covered by the "Inside the Beltway Convention."

Let's not elect another Governor because of name recognition as we did with Jeb Bush.

Charlie has been living off of the taxpayers of Florida for so long, everyone knew his name too.

( Especially his Big Business GOP friends ).

Not sure how high the Shriver name id is in Florida. The guy is a joke.

haven't we had enough of those drunk, womanizing, power-mad Kennedys?

4:38 still doesn't get the joke. The war on Fox was to get Fox to talk about the War on Fox so they couldn't create more troubles by lieing about the health care bill, obama's origin of birth, (or to discuss whether or not Glenn Beck Did or Did Not Kill and Murder a Girl in 1990...we still need an answer, Glen)....

And it worked so well..you are a still talking about.

" ... charity that helps intellectually disabled people ..."

You mean there's a support group for Stepford Libs?

Speaking of the intellectually disabled, here's a story you might not see on the MSM Evening News:

There is hunger for a better candidate, that's all. That's why you keep hearing about someone getting in the race. If Alex Sink was a good candidate, this would not be happening.
She is the frontrunner by default.

I wish former senator Rod Smith would get in the race!!

Anthony is being pushed by his stalwart, upstanding friends', Ron Book, and Randy Perkins (Ashbritt). What a joke.

She's boring and cold? Well then, make her Secretary of State.

He has a chance in Massachussettes or California, not in Florida.

Conservative Floridians do not fall for the Hollywood type politicians

I lived in Massachusetts for 34 years (to 1968) and was a strong supporter of the Kennedy clan. John F. Kennedy served 6 years in Congress before running for the US Senate in 1952. I was 18 at 1952 and too young to vote for him. Finally in 1958 I was able to vote for JFK as he piled up an astounding plurality in his reelection to the Senate, and we all knew he was gearing up for a run for President in 1960.

Ted Kennedy’s first public office was in the US Senate to which he was elected in 1962. In 1962 many voters in Massachusetts, including myself, looked with envy at the Congressmen and Senators from Southern states who stayed in their positions and built up seniority so they could really accomplish something. Also with six year terms the Senate is a place where there is time to learn the job. Many described Ted Kennedy as the Lion of the Senate in his latter years.

Robert F. Kennedy had many years of government service, including being the US Attorney General, before being elected Senator from New York. Like his brother John, Bobby’s life was cut short by an assassin.

And let’s not forget the oldest brother, Joe, who died a hero in WW2 while volunteering for a dangerous task piloting a bomber designed to shatter the German submarine pens in France. He was to bail out over the English channel and a “mother” plane would guide the bomber to its destination. Unfortunately before he could bail out the bomber exploded. He could easily have avoided such dangerous tasks but he chose to put himself in harms way and made the ultimate sacrifice for our liberty and freedom.

Needless to say, I am an unabashed booster of the Kennedy family. Their record of public service continues into the present generations and I am predisposed to look favorably upon a Kennedy entering public service.

That all said, however, Anthony Kennedy Shriver running for Governor of Florida is in my opinion a dreadful mistake. I have a lot of respect for Kendrick Meek, but I would probably give the nod to Anthony were he to run for the Senate, or the US House of Representatives, or even the Florida Legislature or County Commission. But NOT Governor.

As Governor you have to hit the ground running. And that does not mean running for a higher elected office as we have seen with our present Governor. That means BEING the Governor and doing what is best for ALL the people, not just special interests such as developers as we saw earlier this year with Governor Crist.

There are more registered Democrats than Republicans in Florida, but the Republicans hold an overwhelming majority in the Legislature thanks to gerrymandering. With the Legislature and the Governor’s office controlled by the same party there is no control. Witness the $6 million airport hanger for a friend and the $35 million steered to one community college with no oversight. And the RPOF American Express cards for “influential” legislators. The only way we will see any control on this runaway horse is to have a Democrat as Governor. Alex Sink has the executive experience to do the job, and her experience as Florida’s CFO will stand her in good stead.

In my opinion having a primary opponent for Alex Sink will hand the Governor’s position to a Republican, and any hope for control will be lost along with any future political hopes for Anthony Kennedy Shriver. The people have long memories.

Alex Sink is not the answer. We need an alternative. I don't know much about him but at least it would provide us with a choice.

Why not run for CFO? The Dems don't have a candidate, and being President of the Senate has never translated well into a statewide race.

Who we really need is Jeb!

When did $2.5 million become "well-funded" in a gubernatorial campaign?

OHMYGOD RUN RUN RUN !!!!!

Ummm caroline kennedy was blackballed by da mob didn't want the kennedy name distracting from the obama royalty. So, if not for that she would be senator of new york now. There's still time.
Oprah needs to go away.
This guy should RUN. We NEED A BETTER CHOICE. so far the field is D I S M A L

This is different: a Kennedy helping the Republcans in the gov's race. Sink is doing just fine. This sounds like some kid looking for some headlines.

Well, since he already works closely with the intellectually disabled, Shriver would probably have little difficult dealing with the Republican-controlled legislature.

Sorry for the typo.
