Times/Herald poll: Independent voters in Florida shifting toward GOP
Independent voters are more likely to side with Republicans than with Democrats on issues facing Floridians, according to a poll conducted for the St. Petersburg Times, Miami Herald and Bay News 9.
Whether it's opposing a so-called public option for government-run health insurance, supporting oil drilling or a general feeling that the nation is on the wrong track, independents are proving a key ally for conservatives.
The more conservative sentiment is a reversal from a year ago, when Times/Herald/Bay News 9 polls showed that independents leaned more Democratic. (story here)

LOL - What is Charlie going to do now?
Pander even more? flip - flop - flip?

Are they Independents or Pragmatists? Sounds like they just want to play the devil's advocate.
Are there any common bonds for Independents? Guns, abortion, equal rights, what?

Who cares! These polls are a product of the "I want it now" mentality in this country. Remember when we used to judge presidents by their 4 year body of work? Only an idiot would make their mind up about reelection in the first year of a rookie presidents term, especially coming into the presidency during a bad recession! And we wonder why other governments around the world are closing on us...Geez

This is a re-occuring phenomenon caused by voter ignorance. Here's how it works: First the Republicans screw everything up when they're in charge. In response, we elect Democrats. Then the GOP starts up the spin machine, blaming the problems on "bad government" and pointing out that the Democrats are in power. Idiot voters actually fall for this ploy. If we have a large crop of idiots, we put the Republicans back in power and they do it all over again.

Every result from this poll favors the wingnuts and their policies. I find it hard to believe in such a shift, given the damage these people have caused to our state and our nation. Maybe if the Democrats haven't fixed things after 4 or 8 years, but not 9 mos into a new Presidency. I think we need a do-over with a larger, more random sample.

Randall Stevens, are you bi-polar today?

I'm part of the dishonest GOP spin machine 3:23 was talking about. I don't like it when posters point out the obvious truth about me and the other "liars for hire" employed by the irresponsible right.

Hey Times, stick your poll. Have you really seen the Repugnant led Florida government do anything positive except take the Washington democratic stimulus money to make up for the Florida republican budget mess. We're not stupid. The Sunshine State is still in trouble, there is another budget crisis looming and we voters haven't finished getting rid of the scum that caused the problems in the first place.
