Charmed, I'm sure, by bracelets
There's much ado again about dangling make-your-own bracelets.
Today's versions are a vast improvement over the clunky disc number my mother drags out from time to time. Despite its bulk, the bracelet that originally belonged to her mother has enough memories to be a heirloom.
Here's some options, if you're feeling the charm:
Pandora: Think Brighton meets the Add A Bead rage of the 1980s. We bought several for my mother-in-law and they come in shapes to commemorate birthdays, holidays, babies and some pretty designs. There's a new Pandora store at International Plaza, or you can purchase at many local jewelry stores.
Blue box worthy: Tiffany & Co. is making the pitch to a younger set with a collection that includes a martini glass charm, lollipops and "naughty and nice" hearts. No doubt, they're hoping you'll buy one to mark every event from high school graduation to the hot Momma years.
Warning: Building a charm bracelet will cost more than you'd normally ante up for casual wear jewelry. Pandora beads run between $25 for simple silver to over $1,000 for gold with gems. Tiffany charms can range from $65 to over $2,000.
I'm not sold on a charm bracelet for myself, but I'd buy as a gift in a heartbeat. Takes all the guesswork out of presents for holidays and birthdays.

I love these, and I have an awesome gold one that belonged to my grandmother. But I rarely wear it because it interferes with typing...or "keyboarding," as I think it is called these days, based on what my sons have learned in school. ;-}
