Get your Tina Fey, er, Sarah Palin eyewear in Tampa
We women love a good fashion bandwagon to jump on.
We wanted Farrah Fawcett's feathered locks, Dorothy Hamill's wedge/bowl cut, Jennifer Aniston's layered Rachel bob. We let those ladies on Dynasty convince us that shoulder pads and big bangs were good ideas. Completely delusional, we donned stirrup pants, parachute pants, JAMS, oversized sweaters, men's flannel, clunky Doc Martens, neon and multiple Swatch watches all on one wrist. And we thought we looked GOOD.
So what do we really, really, really want in fall 2008? VP candidate Sarah Palin's glasses, of course.
"Yes! We carry her glasses!" an ad in Creative Loafing proclaimed breathlessly this week.
Staring from the page with her clenched-teeth grin was the Alaska governor in her highly desirable, already-on-back-order glasses from Japanese industrial designer Kazuo Kawasaki.
The ad was the brainchild of Sharon Kyte, who owns Designing Eyes Optical (200 N Tampa St., Suite G-110; 813-229-0551) in downtown Tampa and prides herself on keeping up with celebrity-driven eyewear trends. Kyte said she already has ordered three pairs of the titanium, rimless spectacles, including one for a woman who didn't even bother to come in and try them on.
The frames are from Kawasaki's 704 series, in 34 gray. Each pair will set you back $350 for the frame alone. According to Kyte, they are on back order until Oct. 15. ("I get the feeling I’m going to be ordering a lot more than three," she said.) If you order now, you should have a pair perched on your nose by Election Day.
SO HURRY! *gasp* GET YOUR SARAH PALIN GLASSES! *wheeze* NOW!!
