VIDEO BLOG: Shoe Dazzle, month 1!

Shoedazzle1 So, I signed up at Shoe Dazzle.

Shoe Dazzle is an online shoe of the month club from reality TV soul suck, Kim Kardashian. I know, I know, you're thinking, "KIM KARDASHIAN OWNED YOU, SUCKA." And maybe that's true.

But the site is actually pretty cool, especially when you need a regular dose of shoe to function in polite society, like me. The service is $39 a month, and you get to keep the shoes -- this isn't a rental situation. Based on quiz results, "stylists" (translation, some I.T. dudes with a sense of humor) give you five shoe choices. You select one pair.

If the shoes don't work, you can send them back (with a small handling fee -- eck). If you hate your five options some month, you can pass and they won't charge you.

My first pair just arrived. To bring you into the experience, I give you Deal Divas very first VIDEO BLOG! Now, can someone tell YouTube to offer screen shot selections other than "Stoned On Magic Mushrooms" and "Constipated"? Kay, thanks.

Without further blathering, I give you, uh... me. If you look closely, you can see the watercolor still life of Little Debbie snack cakes hanging on my wall. Fine art, baby!

UPDATE: I called Shoe Dazzle, and the rep said they're updating their shoes to be truer to normal sizes. Their initial collections did run a little big. She said it's always good to call before placing an order, and they can tell you whether a certain model runs big or small. Toll free number is on the website.

Just wanted to clarify a comment.

The shoes aren't only Shoedazzle brand. There's also Michael Antonio, Chinese Laundry, etc.

And the one that ARE Shoedazzle brand are mass produced in China and labeled with different brand names, depending on where they're going.

You absolutely CAN find the SD shoes in other stores....just check shoeocean.com (very cheap), shoebuy.com, endless.com. etc.

My friend and I both signed up for ShoeDazzle. At first we both thought that the shoes might be a bit too funky, but when we wore the shoes we got TONS of compliments! ShoeDazzle has totally reinvigorated our style.

WE LOVE SHOEDAZZLE.COM!!

Hi Stephanie - re: shoe size. I have always found a sandal fits better in a 1/2 size smaller. I wear an 8 closed toe and a 7 1/2 sandal. See if it works for you.

Well, Captain Ron, they survey you for your tastes so they make sure to send stuff you like. I'm sure if you took the quiz, they'd come up with some nice Topsiders or Crocs for your seafaring.

Captain Ron

I really want to sign up, but I'm feeling like the shoes may be a little too funky for me. *sigh* How I wish I could wear funky shoes without the other sea captains making fun me.

Love the video blog. Especially the Little Debbie snack cakes.

Stephanie Hayes

Good question! The shoes are original designs by the company's shoe desingers (yes, including Kim -- oy). Most of the shoes are funky and cool, and you won't see them in stores, as far as I know. Check out a sampling here. http://www.shoedazzle.com/the_shoes

This site sounds amazing and appeals to the shoe addict in me. Are the shoes they send designer or just obscure labels? For $40, I wouldn't expect a Dolce shoe to show up.

Stephanie Hayes came out of the womb wearing high heels. While other kids were reciting multiplication tables, she was learning to calculate an extra third off the half-price discount during buy-one-get-one week. She loves animal prints, black mascara and anything that sparkles. She objects to visible panty lines, Crocs and anything that costs more than a car payment. And she doesn't drive a nice car. She can be reached at (727) 893-8857 or shayes@sptimes.com.

Since she was a little girl Nicole Hutcheson dreamed of dressing like a Vogue cover girl. But her reality was more JCPenney catalog. The fact only honed her better ability to find luxury for less. Always on the hunt for markdowns on designer labels, this Deal Diva’s weaknesses are good jeans and killer heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8828 or nhutcheson@sptimes.com.

Colleen Jenkins learned two invaluable shopping tenets from her mom: 1. Buy quality. 2. Get it on sale. Then she added one of her own: Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! This Deal Diva’s idea of a blissful Saturday includes a trip to the Ellenton outlet mall. She loves mixing classic with trendy and cheap Target accessories with her markdown Banana Republic duds. She can be reached at (813) 226-3337 or cjenkins@sptimes.com.

A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry. She can be reached at (813) 226-3400 or lstein@sptimes.com.
Dalia Colon once bought a $200 jacket for $8. In an effort to reach a treaty in the war between fashion and function, she occasionally wears pajama pieces work, accessorizes like nobody's business and passes them off as real clothing. A DIY Diva, if she can't find what she wants in a store, she'll knit, bead or hot-glue it herself. She can be reached at (813) 225-3112 or dcolon@sptimes.com.
