Thanks to the new Hilary Swank flick Amelia, the world is catching on to what Deal Diva Stephanie told us a year ago: Bomber jackets rule. The movie about legendary pilot Amelia Earhart opens Friday, and already folks are trying to steal her signature look:

 
I never had a bomber jacket. I was too busy wearing hideous winter coat hand-me-downs from my older brother. Tragic. But if you were -- or are -- fortunate enough to rock the Top Gun look, we want to see your threads.

Valentino: the man, the myth, the movie

Things $20 won't buy you: a Valentino dress, Valentino shoes or a Valentino watch.

Thing $20 will buy you: an evening with Valentino -- or at least an evening about Valentino.

Maybe you've heard of a movie called The Last Emperor. It's a behind-the-scenes documentary about the 50-year career of fashion designer Valentino Garavani. (Don't feel bad. We didn't know his last name, either. That's him on your left.) Oprah's been gushing about it for months, and the film has finally made its way to our neck of the woods. The opening reception is at 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Tampa Theatre, and $20 gets you in.

Here's what your Andrew Jackson buys you: hors d'oeuvers, complimentary soda and house coffee, one drink ticket, access to the cash bar, fashions on display by local designers Essence Flowers and Ben Chmura and a film screening of The Last Emperor at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A sesh with the film's director, Matt Tymauer. I repeat: all this for $20. At the multiplex, that buys you what? A ticket and some Sour Patch Kids. No contest.

If you'd rather skip the foreplay and go straight for the fashion, you can show up at 7:30 p.m. and pay general admission for the screening and Q&A only. A few other screenings with Q&As are also scheduled.

Just don't bring your fake Valentino handbag.
