A few months ago I was whining about my unsuccessful attempts to sell my wedding dress. A year and a half into my marriage, the gown still hangs in my closet, waiting for me to (A) have it properly reserved; (B) donate it to charity; or (C) give birth to a daughter who, decades from now when when the dress is "vintage," will want to wear it for her own trip down the aisle.
And I just learned of a fourth option: (D) wear it to the Seminole Hard Rock on Friday for 93.3 WFLZ-FM's Wedding Party. The poolside shindig is an ode to tacky wedding attire. Women are encouraged to wear a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress -- the tackier the better. Guys can wear a tux if they have one.
Folks in wedding attire get free admission to the party and Floyd's nightclub inside the Hard Rock. Ugliest bridesmaid dress wins a one-night stay at the hotel, dinner for two at Floyd's and concert tickets.
The event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. For the first hour, ladies wearing a bridal gown can score 93-cent "wedding cake martinis." (Okay, so it's just a martini made with Skyy vodka, but it sounds cool.) Deejays Ratboy and Staypuff will emcee.
