Just opened: L'Moe's, Wood Fired Pizza and Queen's Head

L’Moe’s (4201 Fourth St N, St. Petersburg) has been opened by chef/owner Dan Montgomery, former owner of The Brown Dog Café, which operated for 12 years in St. Pete. In keeping with the times, prices starting at 39 cents for a pepper-cheese corn muffin and run up to $10.89 for barbecued shrimp. Most entrees are under $9, black bean chili a welcome $2.39. The 54-seat restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 10 p.m. for dinner, Sunday brunch starts mid-July.

In New Tampa, Wood Fired is now open at 2822 Bearss Ave. in the Palms Shopping Plaza near the intersection of Bearss and Bruce B. Downs. Sounds like crispy, thin-crust, Napoli-style pies. Seems like a spate of newcomers in this arena, but I welcome all of them. I love that kind of pizza. Evidently, this newcomer is the brainchild of Peter Taylor, a 20-year pizza expert, consultant, and historian. (813) 240-0293.

And just in time for last weekend's Pride Parade, the Queens Head has just opened in Grand Central District at 2501 Central Ave., by British-born owners Paul Smith and Darren Conner. They're aiming for a South Beach feel with outdoor lounge area. Chef Chris Greer is serving European-influenced food with some traditional English pub fare.

Congratulations Darren and Paul. We will bring the crew by now that I know the doors are open

Aw man, how I miss the Brown Dog Cafe! That place was an absolute gem. But I will most definitely check out the new joint too.

L'Moes isnt open yet. Thanks for making me drive there for no reason.

Great job with Queens Head. Sunday Brunch was heavenly, its the in place to dine in st pete.

L'Moes is open now and was well worth the wait! Great menu and prices, cozy atmosphere and an outstanding staff!
