More and more states tackling global warming
"As proposals to cap greenhouse gas
emissions stall in Congress, more than half the states are moving
aggressively to combat the pollution that causes global warming," USA Today reports in a front-page story today that is woefully short on details.
In 2008, eight states are scheduled to release plans to slash
emissions of heat-trapping gases, the story notes, and 17 states -- including Florida -- already have set emissions targets. "States are deploying an array of strategies to reduce pollution," the story reports. "Among
them: capping carbon dioxide emissions of power plants or vehicles and
promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy." To read the USA Today story, click here. (Fair warning: It's not much longer than this blog post.)
