Brandi Carlile explains her GM ad for the Olympics
Many of you will have seen the GM Olympic Games commercial featuring a singer with a beautiful voice. Her name is Brandi Carlile and the song is called "The Story." (Listen to her song on YouTube)
Carlile has posted an item on her website explaining why she agreed to allow GM to use the song in a commercial. Describing herself as a "loudmouth tree-hugger", she says she originally declined to do the ad when first approached by GM. She says she had "visions of SUVs and full-size pick-up trucks driving through a rugged mountain range .... dancing through my head."
But she changed her mind when GM came back to her saying the ad campaign would be promoting energy-efficient hybrids, hydrogen fuel cell cars and the electric Chevy Volt.
"I felt the need to think twice about having the opportunity to be a part of a huge American car company creating an ad campaign for environmentally responsible cars. We feel they allowed more than a fair amount of input from us and made an honest effort to create an environmentally conscious ad. We are proud of it."
She adds that "every last penny from the GM ad is being donated and split between several environmental organizations exploring alternative energy and effecting change on a grass roots level."

I love Brandi Carlile, and hope more people get exposed to her great music through this ad. Now, how are Os Mutantes going to explain their McDonald's ad?
