Obama's climate change policy dilemma

How far will president Obama go in addressing climate change is one of the many quesitons on the minds of environmentalists, economists and the energy industry? He has put together a team with diverse approaches to the issue, as The New York Times highlights today.

On the one hand you have the advocates for immediate strong measures to deal with greenhouse gas emissions, led by Carol Browner, the new White House energy and climate adviser (see photo), while on the other you have heavy-weight economic advisers such as Larry Summers (see photo below), who have in the past warned against radical steps for fear of damaging the economy.

It is hard to see how Obama will balance these different approaches. Most observers appear to think he will move cautiously due to the country's precarious economic situation. But a spokesman Summers_190 for Obama says he remains committed to longterm action, such as carbon trading legislation which can be phased in more gradually, reducing its impact on the economy.

Obama has said he does not believe now is the right time for a gas tax due to rising unemployment and the the credit squeeze. “So putting additional burdens on American families right now, I think, is a mistake,” he said.

Man-made Global Warming is a hoax that threatens our future and the future of our children. Václav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, which just assumed the presidency of the European Union, is right when he states that “environmentalism is the new communism and climate change is a myth.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article5430362.ece

More than 650 international scientists dissent over the man-made global warming claims. Their number is more than 12 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.

Additionally, more than 31,000 American scientists have signed onto a petition that states, “There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate…” http://www.pr-inside.com/the-petition-contains-the-signatures-of-r613239.htm

As a communist, Obama is not expected to acknowledge Man-made Global Warming as a hoax, but use the hoax to increase the control of the government over the economy and the people.

If not stopped, the global warming scam will enrich the scammers (Gore and Obama’ Wall Street friends), increase the power of the U.N. and communists like Obama, and multiply poverty and servitude for the rest of us.

Carol M. Browner and the EPA she administered were found guilty by a jury in 2001 of discrimination and maintaining a hostile work environment. When pressed by Congress in hearings, Ms. Browner admitted that she accepted the verdict of the jury.

Obama's climate change plan, not so cool.
