Scientists to convene climate change summit with Congress, Obama administration
The National Academies of Science has scheduled a two-day summit on "America's Climate Choices" next month where "top climate change experts will meet with members of Congress and the Obama administration, as well as with business leaders and representatives of nongovernmental organizations, to set the stage for national action on climate change."
The summit, to be held March 30-31 in Washington, D.C., "will focus on how to limit the magnitude of climate change and adapt to its impact," according to a press release from the academy.
The attendees "will also consider what can be done to advance climate change science in order to increase our understanding of how human actions and nature interact to drive climate change, improve systems for modeling and observing climate change, and enhance the accuracy of warnings for regions that may be most vulnerable."
Ninety experts have volunteered to serve on various panels, but the academy also wants to hear from the public. It's seeking input here, through April 17.

It is funny how a change of presidency can change the tone of newsprint. It was not long ago the Bush administration had us believing there was no global warming. Today we are studying global warming. Who knows what will be studied four or eight years from now.

about consequences by noor
From the frontiers of climate change comes Consequences by NOOR. Featuring the work of nine, internationally acclaimed photographers, this exhibition documents the devastating effects of climate change around the globe. These stunning photographs show not what might happen in the future but what is happening today.
The subjects include: a massive pine beetle kill in British Columbia, genocide in Darfur, the rising sea level in the Maldives, Nenet reindeer herders in Siberia, Inuit hunters in Greenland, a looming crisis in Kolkata, India, coal mining in Poland, oil sand extraction in Canada and the deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest by Brazilian cattle ranchers.
Consequences by NOOR premiers at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, December 7 through December 18, 2009.
Consequences by NOOR goes on tour in 2010 and is available for booking. Below is just one of the images from our project. I'd love to speak with someone to see if you'd be interested in featuring a few of the images on the wwfus website.

Genocide in Darfur caused by a 1 degree increase in temperature?
And you wonder why so many people believe this whole movement is a fraud?
