Miami hosts 2009 Green Forum on preserving the oceans

Greenforum_home The Americas Business Council is hosting the '2009 Green Forum: The Oceans' in Miami, bringing leaders and policymakers together to discuss ways of reducing the environmental impact on the earth's waters.

Organized by the Planet Initiative of the Americas Business Council (ABC) and National Geographic Society, together with event partners Oceana, University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the City of Miami, the two-day event is examining the effects of pollution and global warming on marine life.

"Its goal is to present a setting for the exchange of ideas, to discuss untapped economic opportunities and to showcase businesses that have benefited from a sustainable economic model," says Nicolas Ibarguen, director of the ABC Planet Initiative.

Panelists include Jean Michel Cousteau, son of the underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau, and Dr. Sylvia Earle,  National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence.
