Tebow wins Heisman Trophy
The history-making season contines for Tim Tebow.
The Florida quarterback became the first freshman or sophomore to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy in a nationally-televised ceremony Saturday night.
He won by just 254 votes.
Tebow received 1,957 points, while Arkansas running back Darren McFadden was second with 1,703 points. Colt Brennan of Hawaii had 632 and Missouri's Chase Daniel had 632.
Florida is the first SEC school to boast more than two Heisman winners, and the Gators now join Notre Dame as the only school to have more than two Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks.

If you bleed orange and blue, this blog is for you. The Gator Report is written by Florida beatwriter Antonya English and the staff of the St. Petersburg Times. We invite your comments and participation.
Congrats Tim, youngest Heisman trophy winner ever. I can't believe people thought you couldn't pass, and they were comparing you to Matt Grothe. Grothe is really overrated, which showed once he played the "hard" games on his schedule. Go Gators!

Great for Tebow....
Does not deserve it though. 3 losses...Heisman??? Seriously?
Great athlete.
Just like last year, no one really deserved it this year either.
And do not give me the idiotic "SEC" crap...
2-2 vs. Non Conference Top 25 schools
1-2 vs. Big East
2-1 vs. ACC
0-0 vs. Big 10
2-1 vs. Big 12
0-1 vs. Pac 10

He doesn't play defense JL. He did everything he could in those losses. The award is an individual award and not team award

JL...who do you give the Heisman too? Colt Brennan? He was undefeated. Chase Daniels? He only had two losses. Run DMc is out based on your premise that a guy needs fewer than 3 losses. Tim had the highest passer rating of any QB to have EVER won the award. He tied (and could break in the bowl game) the all-time record for rushing TD's by a QB. He had more TD's than anyone. More total yards than the other 2 Heisman QB finalist. Most importantly, he would never be on the sideline of the most important play of a game as McFadden was during the winning two point conversion against LSU.

Couldn't win his half of the conference but he is the most valuable player in the country, what a joke. Only a gator could lose 3 games and win it.

should have gone to the undefeated QB.

How valuable can you be when your team wins nothing. They lost every tough game and he is the most valuable player in the country? No way should you lose your ocnf. and win nothing and get the heisman. Colt was screwed just like Boise State was last year. Gators always get all the breaks, unfair.

Wow, 3 negative Tebow posts within 5 minutes of each other. I bet tj, 1:23 and hal is the same person. Typical Gator hater rhetoric. Most likely a jealous F$U, USF fan still upset about that rejection letter from UF. Instead of spending time on a Gator blog bashing Tebow, maybe they should go start their Xavier Lee or Matt Grothe Heisman campaign for next year. It's Great to be a Florida Gator!

Gator fan, I turned down a scholarship to UF. Not everybody wants to be a gator.

Only thing he won all year. Gators had a crap season and don't want to admit it. What did they get 6th in there conference, doesn't make him look very valuable.
Posted by: roni | December 10, 2007 at 09:09 PM
How do you get 5th in your conference and win the MVP award? How valuable can you be when you can't do better than that in your conference. This award is a complete joke.

The Gators are 3rd in the conference there fellas.
LSU
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
UF and UT have the same record and we won H2H, which is why we are going to the Cap 1 game and not UT. Get your facts straight before trying to bash someone.
