Calathes named SEC Freshman of the Week

Florida guard Nick Calathes has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Calathes, the team's leading scorer, averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and hit 53.8 percent from three-point range, as the Gators (15-2, 2-0 SEC) picked up a road win at Alabama, then
won against Auburn on Saturday at the O’Connell Center.

Calathes opened the week by scoring 21 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the Gators’ win over Alabama. Seventeen of his 21 points came in the second half. He also had 16 points and five assists against Auburn and for the week hit 7-of-13 three-point attempts.

Calathes leads the Gators in scoring with 15.2 points per game and leads the SEC in assists per game at 5.9 per contest.
