Get to know Florida hoops recruit Eloy Vargas
Just thought I'd pass this along: In last week's Times, we profiled Florida basketball signee Eloy Vargas, who was competing in a Tampa Bay basketball tournament. You can find that story HERE. Additionally, we've tracked down video of Vargas, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Plantation American Heritage, that is worth a look. That video, along with clips of 2009 Florida target Kenny Boynton, can be found HERE.
Vargas seems a nice kid, according to our reporter who met him.
He's very quiet. Very low key.
Vargas, who moved to Florida from the Dominican Republic before his sophomore year, chose Florida over Louisville and Pittsburgh. In Gainesville, Vargas figured, he could play relatively early since, in his words, "all the guys left" after the 2006-07 season.
"He can really do it all," American Heritage coach Danny Herz said. "He can pass, drive, shoot. There are very few big guys who can do that."
